- Grape, not raisin: why he thinks people shrink as they age, and the clients he says grow taller on his protocol…33:58
- The Bible verse behind adding one pound a month to his bench press since 1997, and the crepitus that is now gone…37:11
- Cellular trauma, the ACE study, the murders of both his brothers, and why he says a perfect diet still lets people drop dead at 70…41:10

In this episode, you’ll meet a guy who’s convinced that almost everything you’ve been told about hydration misses the bigger issue. John Jubilee’s argument is that the water people drink isn’t the problem, their cells are. As you age, he says, your cell membranes become progressively harder to penetrate, meaning the water you consume and supplements you take may not be getting where they need to go. His theory: until you address the membrane itself, you’re leaving much of the benefits on the table. He came to this conclusion after nearly a decade of seemingly doing everything right, including drinking a gallon of water a day and spending nearly $1,000 a month on supplements, yet still struggling with high blood pressure and virtually no cartilage left in either knee.
You’ll hear the whole arc of his story: the question he asked every one of his doctors that none of them could answer, the $11,000 machine he bought in 1997 to answer it himself, the protocol he built out of that, and what he says has happened for tens of thousands of people since. You’ll also get the practical layer that costs nothing, from the three steps he tells everyone to start with to the balls-of-your-feet walking trick, and his case for MSM. Plus, he shares the reason he refuses to recommend any fancy water at all. And near the end, it turns personal, into cellular trauma, the ACE study, and why he believes a flawless diet still leaves something unaddressed.
John Jubilee is the co-founder of Energized Health, which he runs with his wife Chelsea. He spent his early career in banking and was running more than 100 branches by the age of 30 before turning to health full time. Beginning in 1997, he taught himself anatomy, biology, and cellular science to solve his own bone-on-bone knees, and built what he calls an inner cellular hydration protocol out of it. He is 65, still lifts twice a week, and says he has not been sick in 29 years.
Curious how hydrated you actually are, and what it would take to change it?

Long-time listener — 8 years or so. I see a few other commenters have raised questions about the science here without a reply yet, so adding mine.
Three things I can’t reconcile:
The measurement. BIA doesn’t measure intracellular water directly — it derives it from impedance, and ICW tracks body cell mass, which is mostly skeletal muscle (~75% water vs. ~15% for fat). Energized Health’s own site reports +5.38% cellular hydration alongside +5.04% skeletal muscle gain. Those track together because they’re arguably the same measurement. Resistance training by itself raises ICW roughly 3–9.5% (Reviews in Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders, 2023). What does the protocol add beyond that?
The cartilage. Normal knee articular cartilage is 2–6 mm. 2.5 cm would be several times the thickest cartilage in the human body. A 2016 Science Translational Medicine radiocarbon-dating study found essentially no new collagen formation in adult cartilage, healthy or osteoarthritic. Separately, 40 lb of weight loss removes ~160 lb of per-step knee load — which explains the pain relief without requiring regrowth.
The mechanism. Seed oils were described as “hardening” cell membranes, but polyunsaturated fats increase membrane fluidity; saturated fat and cholesterol decrease it. And I can’t find an 88-day cycle anywhere in the cell turnover literature.
To be fair: the soleus/calf work, cutting refined sugar and flour, resistance training, daily accountability — all legitimately effective. That’s probably why the results are real. I’d like to see them attributed correctly.
John — what are steps 4–7 and 9–12? And which Renpho model?
Ben — I am starting to feel as though your episodes are moving from digging into science and plausible wellness opportunities towards advertisements for yourself and your affiliates. Feeling increasingly disappointed. Are you willing to respond to any of the comments on this episode?
Ben, you lost a ton of credibility on this. He never answered most of your questions. You didn’t question the accuracy of the Renpho, his world record on the Hammer Strength (watch the video and the range of motion), pounds and pounds of muscle gained and water gained. His science is pseudoscience. I am blown away that you actually published this. And you are getting an affiliate deal from this? Wow.
Hey — interested to learn a bit more on this so working through the research now, but was curious how results are measured on the Renpho device?
1. Don’t think (or can’t find) that Renpho outputs intracellular or extracellular water, or computes phase angle — so I’m assuming the reading is just total body water %?
2. If it is TBW%, that number rises on its own as people lose fat or gain muscle (fat is ~15% water, lean tissue ~73%). So how do you separate a real hydration improvement from simple fat loss? Gaining 20 lbs of hydration looks like it could come purely from dropping body fat.
3. What’s the protocol for sodium? If the measurement is impedance-based, fluid retention from the day before should move the hydration number quite a bit — is there a standardized measurement window?
Thanks!
Wowza this was a whole lotta nothing. Zero info, just a sales pitch telling you that everyone is dehydrated and nothing works except his miracle method which is a huge secret you gott pay to find out. Sounds far too good to be true, and with the lack of info in the pod, I’m not in the least enticed to find out how much I need to pay for more BS
