Here’s an answer from Dr. Arlene Taylor!
I’ve been thinking about your question. There are a couple of things to consider:
1. Your brain may be becoming accustomed to even the 75 mg of caffeine . . . as the brain’s neuroreceptors become accustomed to something like that they may be wanting more . .. that’s the reason caffeine is habituating. You do not, however, need to give it any more.
2. When the brain does something new (e.g., delta-E) after 18-20 months it becomes accustomed to that. Meaning that your brain is still receiving the benefits of the L-Theanine but its perception of those benefits can become a little dulled. It’s a bit like making love to your wife. A couple of years into the marriage you still enjoy it but there is no longer that sharp edge of gratification . . . when this happens people sometimes look around for something else to provide that newness and variety.
You might try taking delta-E in different types of beverages just to mix it up a bit for the brain.
My brain still gets the clarity but it’s doesn’t get the “surprise” of the clarity that it used to obtain when it was still very new.
I have been taking L-theanine for some time now and believe in it’s effects. However, I do feel as though I have built some tolerance to it. Should this product be cycled and are there negative effects of long-term L-theanine use?
