You're about to get an insider view of exactly how pro cyclists and triathletes get a bike fit using the fanciest bike technology on the planet. It's called the “Retul bike fit”, and here's how they describe it on their Retul website:
“Fit data collected in a traditional two-dimensional plane (i.e. video-based systems) is fairly limited because the fitter can only look at one view at a time, and those views stand as independent reference points. In order to make the best fit recommendations, the fitter must realize that the front and side views are actually interdependent reference points. In other words, the front and side views must be viewed simultaneously in three dimensions in order to see how all the applicable movements of the body are working together. Retul uses a 3D motion sensor to simultaneously gatherdata on multiple angles of the rider.”
Sound complicated?
Good news. I'm going into the Retul Bike Fit center in Boulder, Colorado on today at 9am PST, and you get to watch LIVE below as I ask them to make my bike fit my body *perfectly*, and they do the entire Retul bike fit. Greetings! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this site?
I’m getting tired of WordPress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform. I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
Hi Ben, Retul looks like a really cool process with effective enough results. How does your experience with Retul compare with BCSM or other methods you have used?
Retul was more concrete in terms of measurements and numbers – much less guesswork in that department because all the angles are digitized. As a result, the feedback is far more comprehensive too. And after the fit, they showed me their new framefinder software, which is going to a a huge industry changer. More news on that later.
OK. I am looking at bikes now. How long do I have to wait? Should I call my local Retul fitter for info on that?
a grocery store trip would be great!!! what and how much to buy (any specific brands). how and what to bulk cook to last a week. suggestions when only cooking for one person. what types of foods are worth splurging on… and how to buy healthy food and keep it cheap for a broke college student. :)
I loved the podcast you and Jessa did about eating well for the family, specifically with kids. We do a lot of humus around our house, but I'm wondering what other lunches you could recommend for PB & J replacements. How healthy are homemade nut butters? How often do you eat meats vs. protein from beans/grains? I guess my request would be more on nutrition. :) You guys are awesome. Keep it up!
We'll definitely do that Genevieve. Be sure to check out https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/innercircle/
Ben- If there is a way to let fans know you'll be someplace like Boulder in advance, that would be awesome. I am an officer with Rocky Mt. Tri Club in Denver (400 members) and we would have loved to have tagged on a stop for you to present to the club. The owner of our local run shop, Runners Roost and I both love your work! I'll personally admit that I'm a bit disappointed you got Retuled though. Now you'll be able to run even better off the bike and be in different zip code all together. (I was 2nd to you at Grand Columbian this year!) I had Todd at Retul fit my bike last season and increased both on the bike power and off the bike run speed dramatically by opening up the hips just a few millimeters.

Matt…I usually post on http://www.twitter.com/bengreenfield where I'll be and when…so stay tuned to that…in the meantime, I'll keep in touch if I'm in the area again, which I will be! I'm usually here about 2x/year.
I hope you can make this video available to watch later. I'm working right now but would love to sit down and watch this process!
A grocery trip would be great to see what you buy for the whole week.
