New Discoveries Of The Week: Cool New Things I'm Trying, Books I'm Reading, And More!
A Cool New Website I'm Loving To Get Through Great Books Fast
I'm a book review nerd…because…let's face it: I can only read so many books in a year. So, I often rely upon book summaries and book review sites to get through books faster or get a good preview of books to see if they're actually worth my time to read the entire book. For example, I'm a huge fan of the book reviews produced by gentlemen such as Derek Sivers and James Clear.
In the past, I've also told you about the website/app Optimize.me as one of the ways I get through the world's best books f-a-s-t. What is Optimize? It's simple, really. The good folks at Optimize read every one of the best books (primarily focusing on health, wealth, self-improvement, neuroscience, fitness, business, nutrition, lifestyle, and philosophy) and then summarize these books in easy-to-digest, 20-minute audio MP3s or very short 5-6 page PDFs with the biggest ideas, summaries, and most important takeaways. So, in less than 6 months, I easily made it through the 400+ books on their site, often while I was hoisting dumbbells, walking in the sunshine, or driving in my car. So you get more wisdom in less time. You can click here to get into Optimize now for…brace yourself…the shocking sticker price of 10 bucks a month. Better yet, I talked to the nice folks at Optimize and they're even knocking a buck a month off if you click here and use code BEN.
Well, now I've found another similar service that has quite similar features to Optimize in terms of book summaries that you can quickly read or listen to, but features an entirely different library than Optimize. It is called “Thinkr.” Thinkr summarizes the key ideas from new and noteworthy nonfiction books, allowing you to read or listen in about 10 minutes per title. This week, I've already plowed through Orthodoxy by G.K. Chesterton, The Righteous Mind by Jonathan Haidt, and The Body Keeps The Score by Bessel van der Kolk. I've noted that many of the titles on Thinkr are somewhat health-oriented and relatively conservative or religious, but that's all right up my own personal alley. I'm super happy so far with the app version, though they have a website version too.
If you like to read, but can't get to all the books you've been wanting to, it's incredibly convenient. Check out Thinkr here. Enjoy!

This Week's Most Popular Tweet:
So you’re saying if we got rid of ALL dairy cows we’d only reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 0.7%? Seems a bit lopsided considering tradeoff in terms of loss of food…plus a bunch of the land they’re grazing on can’t be used for crops anyways: https://t.co/WiCGwr9SkS
