Beef & Blueberries For A Potent Stem Cell Boosting 1-2 Combo
It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of good, quality meat, and I’m constantly on the hunt (pun intended) for proprietors of meat that offer grass-fed, grass-finished organic carnivorous tastiness that my readers and listeners can easily order to their own house.
The other night, I got my hands on some filet mignon cuts from a new company I discovered called “Piedmontese Beef.” The Piedmontese breed of cattle originated in the Piedmont region of northwest Italy, where it was first discovered over 100 years ago among the region’s robust history of fine wines and rich cuisines. Prized for its noticeably heavy musculature, the Piedmontese breed’s unique genetic makeup means these cattle naturally develop a significantly greater muscle mass compared to conventional cattle. At the same time, muscle fibers remain tender without the need for excess marbling. The result? Consistently superior beef that’s both lean and tender.
Certified Piedmontese is a healthier beef option that doesn’t sacrifice flavor or tenderness. The cattle, which are raised responsibly and carefully on family ranches across the Midwest, are healthier, too. They’re never given antibiotics, steroids, or hormones. So naturally, I had to try this stuff! I sous vide these Piedmontese filets for an hour, then finished them off with a 2-minute sear per side, then 30-second sear on each edge. My marinade was unique: olive oil, coarse salt, black pepper, rosemary, thyme, and the secret ingredient…blueberries! Why blueberries? Turns out an impressive study I found shows that combining a nutrient found in beef (carnosine) with blueberries can send your energy levels skyrocketing. It does this by supercharging your stem cells more than 80%! Wow! The added bonus is that the sweet tartness of the blueberries paired amazingly with the rich flavor of the Piedmontese beef cuts.
