My Latest Fascinating Discoveries: Cool New Things I'm Trying, Books I'm Reading, And More!

Pre-Packaged “Overnight Oatmeal” I'm In Love With

I was recently at Whole Foods and grabbed a little package of oatmeal called “Mush” off the shelf. I think it was probably the peanut butter and coffee/chocolate flavors that caught my eye and made me drool.

Now, I'm not talking about those little paper oatmeal packs that come in a variety box (*cough* rhymes with Shaker *cough*). Those can have as much as 12 grams of added sugar in a pretty measly serving (I'd need at least four packets to make for a filling breakfast, and that adds up fast to diabetes most likely).

Overnight oats can be a decent alternative to the crappy pre-packaged stuff, but they require hard labor and time the night before. Enter Mush Oatmeal, which is a ready-to-eat oatmeal that's packed with clean ingredients and has zero added sugar. While Mush does have classic oatmeal flavors like blueberry and apple cinnamon, they also have unusual and delicious varieties like peanut butter swirl crunch (I highly recommend) and coffee coconut. The sweetness in the oatmeal is thanks to natural ingredients such as dates, fruit, and cocoa powder – and no high fructose corn syrup, thank you very much.

For those concerned about oats effects on the gut, Mush Oatmeal soaks their oats cold instead of heating them, which removes a coating found on oats called phytic acid. When phytic acid is removed, you can absorb more of the nutrition of oats, including zinc, iron, calcium, and magnesium. They’re also dairy-free and gluten-free for those who have dietary restrictions.

So if you’re in the market for a quick, tasty, and nutritious way to enjoy your morning oatmeal, click here to learn more, find Mush at a store near you, or order online.

My Latest Song About All Things ‘Love,' Inspired By Scripture

Speaking of love, as you may already know, I have a passion for singing and songwriting.

So over the past year or so, I’ve been writing and sharing my music. You can listen to some of the songs I have written and recorded (often with my family) on SoundCloud.

Anyways, I just wrote a new song called – you guessed it – “Love.” I was inspired to write this song based upon one of my favorite sections of Scripture, which goes like this:

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
-1 Corinthians 13:7

You can take a listen here, and let me know what you think. I hope you enjoy it, or in this case, I suppose, I hope you *love* it!

P.S. One of my passions is singing and songwriting, so any feedback you have for me is truly appreciated. You can also share this anywhere you like, including with a church worship leader or anyone else who you think might appreciate it or want to include it in their worship!

I’m teaching through 1 Cor. right now and I slowed down to do a series on love on chapter 13 so the song was perfect timing for me! Thanks Ben!
