New Discoveries Of The Week: Cool New Things I'm Trying, Books I'm Reading, And More!

I Still Eat Baby Food (And Now, Baby Formula)

Okay, I admit it…I don’t have a baby. My twin boys are 13 now, and the days of baby food are long gone. But baby or no baby, there’s still baby food—and now baby formula—holding a hallowed place in the pantry at the Greenfield house.

Joe and Serenity Carr, past podcast guests of mine, founded Serenity Kids to provide an alternative to the traditional preservative-infused, high sugar, high carbohydrate baby foods (that by the way, leave kids addicted to carbohydrates for the rest of their lives). So I was pretty psyched to hear that Serenity Kids recently launched an A2 Whole Milk Toddler Formula sourced from grass-fed, pasture-raised meats from small American family farms. They blend in only organic vegetables and healthy fats, and never use corn syrup, antibiotics, hormones, or GMO feed. (This article has more on the story behind Serenity Foods, and is worth checking out – if only to see a picture of me dressed as a giant baby.)

I already put Serenity Foods baby food packets on my steak, pork, and fish, and now I’m adding the new toddler formula to my smoothies for an awesome post-workout meal or morning smoothie packed with vitamins D, E, A, and K, along with human milk oligosaccharide (found naturally in breast milk) and DHA for full-body support. The lactose in the formula is packaged with enzymes that help digest lactose, so even if you’re lactose intolerant like me, this stuff is super-duper bioabsorbable.

Serenity Foods baby food and toddler formula is a nutritional powerhouse, and worth stocking up on regardless of whether you have a baby in the house. You can get 15% of your purchase at Serenity Kids with code BEN.

Bacon Makes Everything Better

I'm a big fan of surf n' turf.

Steak and halibut? Check.

Steak and crab legs? Possibly even better.

Bone marrow drizzled over grilled lobster? That counts, I'm pretty sure, and it actually works really well.

But do you want the easiest “surf n' turf” recipe ever? Here you go: use the salmon cake recipe from page 32 of my new Boundless Cookbook, but after you make the cakes, cut a few slices of bacon, toss them on the salmon cakes, and grill them at 400°F for 8-10 minutes. Then toss in the oven broiler for 3-5 minutes to get the bacon on top nice n' crispy. If you're lucky enough to have a Traeger grill, you can also smoke these bad boys for 30-60 minutes prior to grilling (may I recommend the “pecan” pellet from Traeger as it has a nice flavor with the fish). Serve them up with sea salt, a sliced tomato or two, slivered red onions, a bit of Primal Kitchen Tartar Sauce (use code BEN to save 10%), and some giant shards of lettuce and/or sourdough buns and you'll be in food heaven.

Inspired? You can find plenty of recipes for your surf n' turf creations in the Boundless Cookbook, which is now available on Amazon. Click here to order your copy today.

Special Announcements:

::: Try The World's Best Olive Oil For $1 :::

I love extra virgin olive oil (EVOO). Studies show it lowers bad cholesterol and cuts your risk of heart disease and stroke. It helps protect your brain against decline and reduces inflammation throughout your body.

My favorite source is T. J. Robinson’s Fresh-Pressed Olive Oil Club. Robinson searches the world for the best small-farm extra virgin olive oils. Then he flies them straight from the new harvest at their peak of flavor and nutritional potency.

Once you try T.J.'s olive oils, bursting with harvest-fresh flavor, you’ll never go back to store-bought oils. His oils are pricey, normally $39. But the super-fresh flavor will blow you away. To prove it, T. J. will send you a $39 bottle free if you’ll pay just $1 to help cover shipping.

Try a free bottle and discover how top-of-the-line artisanal EVOO is meant to taste. No commitment to buy anything, now or ever.

I Want To Know What You've Got Cooking

I'm so stoked about the positive feedback I've been getting about my new Boundless Cookbook. The cookbook was a labor of love, but I'm really proud of the end result (especially considering I'm definitely not a trained chef).

Now that the Boundless Cookbook is available on Amazon, I have a favor to ask…

If you have the cookbook and you love it, can you hop on over to Amazon and leave a review? Amazon reviews—as I bet you know—are super important. I want your honest feedback and I'll be reading them to hear what you think.

You can leave your review on Amazon right here (and if you don't have a cookbook yet, and you're an Amazon Prime member, you could have your copy at your doorstep as early as tomorrow).

Featured Product: Kion Aminos

50%. That’s the amount of amino acids you actually absorb from food.

No matter how much protein you eat, you’ll still likely only be able to tap into half of the amino acids you consume, and amino acids are pretty important. They’re the building blocks of protein in the body, and they help you build new muscle, support energy production, and keep the systems in your body running smoothly.

Kion Aminos is a pure, plant-based essential amino acid formula. You just add the powder to ice-cold water and enjoy a refreshing, energizing drink for staying energized, boosting athletic recovery, and supporting lean muscle mass.
