I have several friends who I would consider to be VIP's, bigwigs, and leading authorities in the field of health and biohacking.

Although I will respectfully keep those friends anonymous, I've noted that a relatively large majority of them have one specific man who serves as their personal physician, and he's the same guy who advises some of the world's top military personnel, Spartans, strongmen competitors and obstacle racers.

That man is Dr. Anthony G. Beck, and he's my guest on today's podcast.

As a physician who has practiced Functional Medicine for over 20 years and backed by 10’s of thousands of patient encounters, Dr. Anthony G. Beck doesn’t merely manage diseases ~ he helps people resolve them. Dr. Beck has earned 4 national medical board certifications, is the founder and chief medical officer for Balance Protocol Institute, is the founder and CEO of Helion Nutraceuticals, and provides philanthropic care for combat veterans through groups such as Warrior Angles Foundation, Millennium TBI Network and Task Force Dagger Foundation.

With extensive education in many clinical disciplines such as Functional Medicine, clinical nutrition, systems biology, epigenetics and nutrigenomics, he takes a dynamic approach to assessing, educating, and working with his patients to achieve their highest levels of wellbeing. Dr. Beck’s programs involve a full array of aspects including optimizing ones environment of (air, water, light, sound, EMF), healthful lifestyle design, individualized nutrition, hormone balancing, resolving immune dysfunction, identifying hidden infectious diseases, as well as leveraging extensive laboratory and functional testing to assist patients to determine their biochemical individuality. Even more importantly, Dr. Beck wants to empower patients to demand a higher level of care from their health care providers.

So not only is Dr. Beck a wealth of knowledge on advanced health tactics, medical testing, and the combination of biohacking and exercise performance, but he's also the mastermind behind a hydration tactic I've personally been experimenting with: a tiny hydration invention called Oral I.V. – which we explore in great detail in the episode “The Physician Who Personally Advises The World's Leading Health Authorities, And His Tiny Invention That Pro Athletes Swear By.”

Lately, Dr. Beck has been quite pesky and informative on my own Facebook page – on topics about everything from mushrooms to methylation – so I figured I'd invite him on the show to take a deep dive into some of these controversial topics he has a unique perspective on, including:

Energy Medicine Devices

Dietary waters vs pH effect on body

EMF devices for health and their consequences

During our discussion, you'll discover:

-Anthony's fascinating morning routine that includes near infrared, far infrared and photobiomodulation… [00:11:10]

-Why Anthony only takes certain supplements during certain seasons, and how he determines that… [00:22:29]

-Why Anthony has his Spartan athletes eat differently at different latitudes and why you can eat more fruits and raw vegetables in the spring and summer… [00:30:53]

-Why you don't really need to worry about the pH of the water that you drink, and whether carbonated water will really damage your teeth… [00:39:43]

-Why Dr. Beck believes the whole Plant Paradox “lectins are bad for you” argument is a bad hypothesis… [00:51:01]

-Dr. Beck's favorite self-quantification tests and why… [00:52:19]

-The reason Dr. Beck doesn't use cannabidiol based on the RS1135840 and RS1065852… [00:59:00]

-All the damage that Dr. Beck has seen ‘shrooms do and the damage they can cause… [01:03:32]

-How Dr. Beck personally mitigates the effects of EMF, and why he isn't a fan of “EMF” blockers… [01:15:00]

-And much more!

    Hey, super interesting podcast!

I’m wondering where I can find more information regarding raising levels of arachadonic acid in the body. A RBC fatty acid profile from a couple years ago shows my arachadonic acid level very low, seemingly due to both lacking delta-6 desaturase function and low LA consumption. I’m concerned this could be causing me some health issues, but most sources refer to it as inflammatory and evil, as such. While the corn chip idea is intriguing, would this work for me? Is evening primrose my best option? How do I know it’s working?

    1. It's readily available in foods like tilapia, catfish, yellowtail and mackerel, fatty cuts of meat, duck, eggs, dairy… Read more here:…

    2. And most are quite incorrect about the obtuse statement that it’s “inflammatory” and “evil”. It comes from those who do not understand context and who obfuscate biochemical individuality. It is more times than not simply agenda driven. On that note, the answer is that what “works” would require qualification, quantification, measuring and monitoring. Yes, your case could be due to delta-6 inhibition or lack of substrate consumption or increased demand on pathway or a combination of those. So which food source that would be appropriate requires the context of the personal clinical data of the individual.

Another outstanding podcast Ben and Anthony! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.

In regards to water, what is the best form, or is that also specific to each person?

    For exampla…Alkaline, structured, RO, etc.

    Many thanks,

    1. Glad you enjoyed it ;)

Quality RO that has been mineral rectified and then structured.

Alkaline water via electrocution is false presupposition and has high potential for detriment over time.

Great podcast one of my favorites!

A question for Dr. Anthony G. Beck

What are your most recommended books on learning more about what’s discussed in this podcast? Other than the one’s already linked to.

Thanks to both of you again for this wealth of information.

    1. Hey Hector,

The ones listed in the show notes are the ones I recommend for the content we covered, although I do realize much of what we discussed does not have much publication due to it being the result of my own work. My books are coming in the next year ;)

  4. Tim says:

Is there a good source for the tuning approach? Does the rubber mallet that comes with the forks not work well enough?

Great podcast and thanks for your help, Dr. Beck!

    1. I don’t have a recommend for that at this time, unfortunately. The mallets that come with the forks I recommend work quite well.

Thank you and happy you enjoyed it ;)

  5. Jordan says:

Dr Beck. At the end of the podcast you said you send your followers to listen to two people – Ben Greenfield and I’m wondering who the other person is? Thanks

    1. Hey Jordan…my patient Shawn Stevenson has a great show as well but is generally geared to a different demographic. Here is my episode.

      Enjoy. :)

  6. Anibal says:

    Hi Ben/Anthony,

Thanks for this great podcast; after listening to it, this question came to my mind. Are noise cancelling headphones dangerous or beneficial (wired headphones)?

    1. Glad you enjoyed it ;) I would not say they qualify as “dangerous” but they are certainly not “beneficial” per se. The reason I don’t use headphones in general is because they can act as antennae for ambient RF. Given our air environment is just so packed with such a spectrum of frequencies…it’s simple a principle I believe to be wise. The ears are huge receivers of signals and an access hub for the entire nervous system yoked to literally every system of the body. Hence, why Auricular Therapy is such a powerful tool.

      1. Anibal says:

thanks for the input, appreciate it :)

  7. John says:

    What decaf do you like?

    1. Honestly, I get mine from Bucers Coffee House in Moscow Idaho. But you just want to Swiss water process decaf. If you're into decaf coffe, check out this podcast:…

  8. Eleanore Nelson says:

Dr. Beck mentioned something about how the cytochrome p450 is given that name due to the fact that it is seen with 450nm (a blue light) and that blue lights from TVs, computers and phones then block detox pathways. Kinda blows my mind. Where is the research on this? is this just common knowledge in the community of biohackers?

    thanks, love the show!

    1. The term Cytochrome P450 is derived from the spectrophotometric peak wavelength of the absorption maximum of the enzymes which is 450nm. As of today’s date, I am the only who has ever spoken of it and I have warned of this for over 15 years. There is no research on this, unfortunately and is not common knowledge in the biohacker community save it be those I have trained. The take home is to understand that (and this may sound woo woo) we are being of light when you reduce all things down to its smallest fractal micronage. There are countless other protein complexes that are receivers of light instruction by virtue of wavelength.

  9. Debbie Moon says:

    Interesting podcast.

I wanted to point out, though, that CBD oil isn’t metabolized by CYP2D6; it is an inhibitor of CYP2D6. If anyone is interested in looking at the genetics involved with cannabis, I’ve written an article about it:…
Additionally, if anyone would like to check their 23andMe data for CYP2D6 (or other phase I detox genes), I have that information freely available as well. ( I do agree with Dr. Beck that knowing your genetics for the CYP genes is very important before taking any types of drugs, prescriptions or other.

Here is one study (among many) showing that cannabidiol is a potent inhibitor of CYP2D6:

    1. Glad you found it interesting :) My point regarding the CYP system was not solely directed to 2D6 as relates to cannabis and I used that one as just one example. Whereas, the cannabinoids are a complex as are the Cytochromes a complex. Yes. Cannabidiol, the major phytocannabinoid, is a potent atypical inhibitor for CYP2D6. So those who have a SNP that is already impaired 2D6 have potential to alter the dose/benefit was the specific point. However, 2D6 does play a role in clearance in cannabis whereas the plant has a complex of molecules to clear beyond just cannabidiol and therefore requires a complex of CYP to clear them all. Ergo…The CYP1A2, CYP3A4, CYP2C9, and CYP2C19 enzymes are known to be affected by marijuana use as well.

    2. Chris says:

Yes, I was listening to the podcast today, and remember thinking, aha..I’m sure there’s an article that Debbie’s written over at geneticlifehacks. And so there is. Anyway, Ben, Anthony provocative and interesting as usual, thanks guys. Chris

  10. Matt says:

So how are y’all going to mention my favorite mitochondrial enhancer but not discuss it at all!?

Dr. Beck, what sort of micronage(sp?) do you use for methylene blue?

    Thanks, great podcast guys!

    1. Hey Matt,

Yea…love me some MB :) It’s quite lovely for those who have aberrant mitochondrial metabolite markers found within urine organic acids. The key is the differentiation of other systems that can relate to those such as the pathways of methionine cycle, BH4, Urea, and NAD. As I said that goes with anything…there is always going to be upsides and downsides. Having said that…MB doesn’t (generally speaking) have a large risk profile and is relatively safe. I would just say to start with very low doses and take you time working up and don’t think more is better. But last and not least….you MUST have your light right in you life if you are going to get the benefits it imparts.

  11. Joel says:

    Dr Beck-

What are your thoughts on single file alignment water made by such a machine as Gia Wellness?

    1. “Single File Alignment” (SFA) is not a real thing and is simply a phrase unique to their company they choose to use. If you watch the videos of Gerald Pollack provides visual narration of EZ water and states specifically that the molecules are NOT aligned single file. They can’t be due to the charge of H3O2. Lastly..the trouble I have is the company offers a pendant and GIA Cell Guard “has been designed to neutralize the effects of your exposure to electromagnetic radiation (EMR), as well as to strengthen the resilience of your body’s biofield to stress, at the same time and has been designed to neutralize the effects of your exposure to electromagnetic radiation (EMR)”. Fundamental understandings of EMF proves that to be folly. They do not alter measurable fields with meters what so ever and neither does their plug in harmonizer.

      1. Joel says:

Dr Beck, you’re awesome thanks for taking the time to reply to me!

  12. Nathan says:

The Omax link isn’t working for me for some reason.

  13. Bastian says:

Hi, would be great if you Ben or Dr Beck could make Dr Revicis research available which Dr Beck has talked about (“his archive”).

    Great podcast as always!!

  14. Chase Blakeley says:

    This was great interview.

Btw, thanks for responding to my Tweet about Tai Lopez interview!

Anyway, Dr. Beck knows his stuff. I’m curious — what was his specialization?

To my content related question- from the part about the CYP2D6 liver detox gene to assess CBD efficacy, if you have your 23andme raw data and search the chromosomes given, what are you looking for in the data to garner insights?

As I continue down your rabbit hole of podcasts, Parnam farms articles, and book recommendations, I’m losing my desire to pursue a career in cryptocurrency trading and rediscovering my original passion for the benefits of researching health, fitness and exercise physiology, medicine, and nutrition spaces, but I’m not sure I want more student debt and years drained in graduate/medical school.

I realize career consulting is probably outside your wheelhouse, but is there anyone else you would recommend I reach out to for insights or potentially to shadow? My interest is in improving athlete performance and includes specializations in DNA research, biomechanics, exercise physiology, nootropics, and almost anything else under the sun that’s related.

    1. Hi Chase. Great comment. Dr. Beck specializes in functional medicine. The actual snp's associated with cannabis sensitivity are here:… – and I actually do indeed do career consulting…check out Happy to set up a consult with you. I'd also look into the Kion coaching program:

    2. Mathew says:

Here are list of tools that you can use now that you have you DNA raw data:

  15. Louise says:

What genes were the most significant ones to check regarding tolerance to shrooms/psychedelics?

    1. For genes related to metabolism of specific drugs, I'd start here:…

    2. Great question and not really a simple answer. It requires the context of the individual and what systems one is seeking to leverage and which psychedelic to use.

  16. Mike says:

John Douillard ‘3-season diet’ has a list of foods to eat for specific seasons. It’s a free PDF.

Also the link for OMAX is broken.

    1. Nathan says:

Do you have a link to the free pdf? I can only find the book on Amazon. Thanks
