Mysterious, frustrating fatigue is one of the most common issues in the athletes, clients, soccer-moms and CEO's who I consult with. In fact, a recent study showed that nearly 40% of U.S. employees experienced significant fatigue in the previous two week period, and about one million Americans and a quarter of a million people in the UK have some kind of chronic fatigue.

We all know about well-known causes of fatigue, such as a poor diet, food allergies, bad sleep, stress, etc. But what about when you're “doing everything right”, but you're still tired, have brain fog, subpar workouts, or chronically low energy? What about those of us who eat right, get enough sleep, manage our stress, but still feel tired much of the time?

Today, my friend Dr. Isaac Jones joins the podcast to look into 5 lesser-known causes of fatigue that fly under the radar, but should definitely be ruled out if you’re doing everything right but still feel tired.

So who exactly is Dr. Jones?

Known as “the doctor of the future”, he is the world’s leading expert in high-performance concierge healthcare. As a successful entrepreneur and owner of 3 different companies, he is a trusted advisor and high-performance consultant to CEO’s and leading entrepreneurs around the world. He graduated from the most prestigious health and wellness doctorate program in America and has invested over $250,000 on advanced lab tests, health retreats, educational seminars and cutting-edge health certifications to help his clients gain an unfair competitive advantage.

His company Designer Health Centers has received a certification from the United Nations for its “Excellence in Healthcare” for the work Dr. Jones did for the Royal Family in Saudi Arabia. He participates in a private “future of healthcare” mastermind with a small group of global thought leaders such as Sanjay Gupta MD and Jeff Arnold CEO of Sharecare.com who sold WebMD for $7.6 billion.

During our discussion, you'll discover:

-Isaac's amazing story of how using functional medicine to heal his ADD, dyslexia and skin problems helped propel him to becoming one of the top 800m runners in North America…

-The underground method used in Russia and Europe to stop chronic infections in their tracks…

-Hidden sources of biotoxins in your environment, and how to test for and eliminate biotoxins…

-Why most Lyme tests don't really work, and what you should really be looking for when it comes to Lyme disease…

-The 3 different ways that mitochondrial dysfunction can occur, and exactly how to fix them…

-Five simple steps you can take to heal cells and mitochondria…

-And much more!

  1. Douglas says:

Hello Ben and Dr Jones. Is it possible to starve out parasites and/or candida through prolonged fasting? Is it also possible to starve out chronic infections or is that a bad idea (too much stress)?

    Happy Easter

    1. I haven't heard of this, but I have some remedies for these things on BenGreenfieldFitness.com you can find by doing a search. Here's an article to get you started: https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/article/digestio…

  2. Phillip Sullivan says:

    Hi,

I have a infection in my jawbone from a root canal that went bad. The root canal was pulled out and the area cleaned out and there’s no tooth or anything there now. Problem is the infection came back after having this done. I get some green mucous drainage from it every day and when I press on the area it’s lightly sore. I’d like to get a phage treatment for it if that’s recommended? If so how do I get in contact? Thanks!

    1. Here is a reply from Dr Jones: I'm sorry to hear this! Here are the top two that I have access to now: https://store.elevays.com/products/sl-sal-virome, https://store.elevays.com/products/ec-eco-virome-… I would HIGHLY recommend using the microbiome correcting toothpaste Revitin here: https://store.elevays.com/products/revitin-toothp…. My last two recommendations are 1. to find a dentist at iaomt.org to look at what's going on 2. Eat a low processed sugar diet, and a diet rich in healthy vegetable fiber. Essential for your mouth microbiome. If you do want to get a consultation with Dr. Accurso or myself it's an investment that is a minimum of $3K to start. We offer some of the finest quality healthcare in the world but it's not your traditional healthcare… If interested go to: http://www.elevays.com/consulting – Wish you the best! Blessing! – Dr. Jones

      1. Frank C. Allen says:

Start gargling with Hydrogen Peroxide. I’ve been doing that since 1969 I don’t get cavities, gum disease, sore throats. I was checked @ my dentist for how much bacteria was in my mouth, as we are supposed to have around 750 – 1400 or so. I only have 250. And I haven’t had a cold in over 30 years. I’m 71 years old & I’m not on 1 prescription drug.

  3. David says:

Ben – great job, as always. I listened to this podcast a few times and have followed up on a few of the recommendations.

Dr Jones – I am interested in Phage therapy, but am I reading the media incorrectly that it is still not permitted in the US?

    1. Response from Dr Jones: Phages are available in the US in fact we have a couple of different types you can purchase on our store (links below). In saying that we recommend if anyone is interested in more information to book in for a consultation with one of our high performance doctors so we can tailor any recommendations specifically to that person.

  4. Ebeth says:

This podcast was eye opening, and gave me a bit of hope for my health! I’ve been struggling with candida overgrowth for years, and been treated with every antibiotic out there to no avail. I live in California, can you recommend a way to get phage treatment here?

  5. Monika says:

    Hi,

I really liked the podcast and I looked through Dr Jones’ website. I live in Australia and was wondering if you could recommend a clinic here. Thanks in advance.

  6. Heidi says:

Great podcast! I must have listened to it a dozen times to take notes. I was curious about the Phage drops you were referring to in the podcast. Do you have them available for purchase? I saw that someone asked earlier on this post the same question and your answer was BIND. However I was under the impression that BIND was the activated carbon supplement.

    Thanks so much!

    1. Hi Heidi,

Response from Dr Jones: Ec Phage you can get here: https://store.elevays.com/search?type=product&q=Ec

EC was designed to support the proliferation of beneficial bacteria throughout the gastrointestinal tract in order to promote optimal digestive and immune health. Through a natural process, EC is able to cause non beneficial bacteria to release nutrients that act as a high-quality prebiotic food for our own beneficial, or supplemented probiotics.* Based on lab testing with several popular probiotic supplements, EC was able to increase the growth rate of supplemented probiotics by an average factor of 24x compared to control.* EC supports the proliferation of beneficial microflora, thereby supporting immune and digestive health.

Sl Phage you can get here: https://store.elevays.com/search?type=product&q=Sl

SI (Sal-Virome) revolutionizes the approach to microbiome health. Our virome is an amazing part of our microbiome including prebiotic proteins and other microorganisms. SI is a tool for health care practitioners that provides a novel functional prebiotic designed to support a healthy microbiota. A healthy microbiota is a crucial part of gastrointestinal and metabolic health. This product provides practitioners a safe and extremely effective method of supporting the microbiome naturally. Sl’s prebiotic blend of protein and nucleic acids can balance microbiota on our food as well as help maintain a normal and healthy gastrointestinal system.

  7. sam says:

Great podcast. Having looked at Isaac Jone’s website, I was wondering which supps tt take for mitochondria health. It looks like GCell and Bind are possibly the most “bang for your $$”. Any help would be appreciated for a beginner supplement

    .

    1. From Dr Jones: Thanks so much for this! Cardiolipin is an essential fatty acid found in the inner portion of the mitochondrial membrane. We aren't getting much in our diet any more which is why I supplement with the fatty acid "Vista". eNRG is specifically designed to increase mitochondrial ATP output. Consuming a diet rich in healthy essential sugars <a href="http:// (http://www.superhumanentrepreneur.com/ways-to-boost-energy/)” target=”_blank”> <a href="http://(http://www.superhumanentrepreneur.com/ways-to-boost-energy/)” target=”_blank”>(http://www.superhumanentrepreneur.com/ways-to-boost-energy/) will also help mitochondrial output. GCell and Bind work indirectly to help the mitochondria by removing toxins and impurities from the Cell. Bind is too big to pass into the blood stream so it hangs out in the gut, while GCell boosts Glutathione intracellularly (not even liposomal glutathione can do this unless it's nano particles which isn't on the market yet but I'll be bringing it soon). When you boost GSH inside the cell it pushes toxins out into the extracellular space and out via the liver into the gut. The probelm with regular "GSH boosts" is that if you don't BIND them in the gut then you end up re-absorbing them through digestion. That's where BIND comes in. It holds onto 400X it's size in toxins out of the body. BIND is also REALLY good for biotoxic illnesses such as mold exposures. This also clearly helps the cellular membrane. Lastly, making sure your micronutrient sufficient is essential. Being on Spectra 1 and 2 on my site would be the best for that.

  8. Nick says:

The links you posed for the activated carbon and supplement to increase glutathione are broken. After listening to the podcast, I think Dr. Jones has many valid points. However I think it is asking quite a lot for someone to spend $200 on a “phone consultation” before you can even provide Dr. Jones with any of your personal background/issues to determine if you are a good candidate.

  9. RitonTpe says:

    Hi,
Where could you get the transcript? I went to the link at the top right but the transcript is for other podcast.
Thank you for the podcast and the information shared.

    1. It just means the transcript has not been done yet – it should be done in the next week or so!

  10. Paul B says:

Is this guy REALLY a Doctor? Even I know that salmonella is a bacteria NOT a virus! Sorry Ben. I know he’s a friend, and I love and trust your podcast above ALL others, but when so called experts get simple facts wrong it makes me sceptical of taking their advice.

    1. Response from Dr Jones: Paul I think I responded to this above. Sorry for the confusion. I am a doctor… who trains doctors because of the results I get with the people I work with. I appologize if I confused salmonella phage (which is a virus) with salmonella. Definitely won't be making that mistake again! LOL. It would never talk about anything I haven't tried and seen work on dozens of other people I've worked with.

  11. damdamdam says:

There's so much nonsense in this podcast, not sure where to begin with… I don't think your guest understands half of what he says himself. I stopped listennig when you went on to say that Tour de France cyclists would eat horse meat before big stages because it has lots of mytochondria. It's like saying eating brains will get you a Nobel prize.

I've been a fan of your show/articles for years, but somehow your whole gig has been heading downhill in the past year or so, because you've been trying to get more sciency and discuss things way over your head. And having more and more phony guests that you clearly can't tell from the legitimate ones because you clearly lack some science background (e.g. any of the shows talking about EMF). Your credibility was way higher when you sticked to sports performance and simpler things like nutrition advice.

    1. damdamdam, interesting name you chose. Ben was simply stating the facts. I'm over in Tokyo right now and tonight I went out with several doctors and a few former athletes and they were saying similar things (ironic because it's the first time I had horse in my entire life and I just read this post). Everyone is entitled to their opinion. A good strategy going forward would be to listen to any episode with a title fitness related and avoid any episodes where he's interviewing forward thinking doctors. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be invited to be in a mastermind with Jeff Arnold, Sanjay Gupta and the CEO's of some of the most prestigious hospitals in America if I was speaking out of my ass. I have respect in the health industry because I view health holistically and don't stand for mediocrity. Do I get look at weird when I talk about how removing inflammatory agents from the body and diet reverses heart disease and high cholesterol? Yes. But lifestyle strategies and proactive healthcare is the new medicine. Anything we can do to reduce inflammation in the body saves lives and helps people live longer. What I'm talking about is the future of healthcare.

  12. Grant Scott says:

Ben, really great podcast! Great, helpful information. Nice job.

  13. Chris says:

Ben, I appreciate your fitness and diet tips. But as a microbiologist and having just listened to this podcast, I feel the need to correct some really basic biology errors put forth by Isaac Jones. Please learn the difference between bacteria vs. virus (phage). Salmonella, for example, is a bacteria (and one of the most well known and studied human bacterial pathogens). Isaac Jones referred to Salmonella as a virus, which is definitely incorrect. A virus, in contrast, can infect a bacteria or eukaryotic cell. Phage is another term for bacterial virus. Phage therapy, practiced in Russia/Eastern Europe, refers to the use of bacterial viruses to eliminate bacterial infection. And secondly, the term microparasites is a catch all for basically all bacterial, fungal, viral infections. Its not really very descriptive or informative since each of these lifeforms have different pathogenesis mechanisms.

    1. Response from Dr Jones: Phage is a virus FOR bacteria… That's what kills the salmonella. When we were talking I had meant to say "Phage salmonella virus" versus "salmonella virus".

  14. losocski says:

Ben, where on the 23 and me information can you tell about your methylation?? I have the tests from about 5 years ago but wonder where to go about finding that information in the data. Thanks.

    1. You need to "Export" your results. I suggest exporting them, then importing to a website like geneticgenie.com or sending to Dr. Isaac Jones…

  15. Anthony says:

Curious where he is getting his Phage supplies…?

    1. Response from Dr Jones: The product is called BIND and it carries 400x's it's weight of toxins out of your body. It doesn't pass the mucosal membrane hence why it would be good to increase glutathione when using it. The product I use to boost GSH intracellularly (which I feel is far superior to liposomal GSH as proven on pre and post micronutrient panels) is GCell found here: https://store.elevays.com/search?type=product&q=sf433 and the BIND found here: https://store.elevays.com/search?type=product&q=sf404

  16. Vincent says:

Thank you for all the information. If I have HLA-B27 gene and inflammation in my body, which was the product that Dr. Isaac Jones took from Iceland. (carbon ???)

How can I get this product?

  17. Incredible show Ben! I’ve struggled with fatigue for over 10 years with absolutely no help from any of the doctors I visited, and I’ve seen many. I’ve been told candida is not a real disease, I’ve been told it’s all in my head…I’ve had SSRIs prescribed…I’ve been told I’m “perfectly healthy” after a 5 minute exam and a few blood tests…it was basically a huge waste of my time & money. None of them even had a clue about anything that Dr. Jones spoke about on your show.

Anyhow, this show has given me so many great options to look into to finally get this fatigue behind me.

You do fantastic work and I truly appreciate your show and all the well researched information you are sharing with all of us.

    Much gratitude,

    Dan

  18. Jon says:

Don’t know why Ben keeps pushing this crap.

Made up dieses dont need proponents. Trust doctors remember they can be held responsable; Ben and his buisness partned can’t.

  19. Heidi Fava says:

Hi Ben. I signed up as an insider this morning, but now I can’t log in. It looked like it worked because it brought me to a site with other peoples insider websites. But now it doesn’t recognize my use name or password. I paid for the full year. How do I get help with this?

    Thanks, Heidi

  20. klehenba says:

Oh, where to start. Salmonella is not a virus. Isaac also mispronounced a hand full of medical terms. I would support your right to free speech but hope people will do their research prior to forking over cash. I challenge anyone to prove these magical phages exist. If they did, why wouldn't they run a study, submit it to the FDA, get approved and make billions of dollars. The references supplied for Lyme iSpot show that type of test has a sensativity of less than 50%. That means, if you have Lyme disease, the test will correctly diagnose you worse than a coin flip. A coin flip would be much cheaper. EBV, CMV, varicella (Chicken Pox virus), and other herpes viruses can remain in your body your whole life. EVERYONE has them. It doesn't mean you have a chronic infection. Your immune system will keep them dormant. You will also have antibodies to them for the rest of your life so anyone who tests for those and then tells you you have a chronic infection doesn't understand infections or the immune system. Spend your money on healthy food!

    1. Response from Dr Jones: I'm sorry for the confusion, I was referring to the Salmonella Phage as a "virus" that kills the bacteria. The reason why they wouldn't run a phage study and sumit it to the FDA is becuase it's not "patentable". Most every bacteria has a viral phage counterpart that can break it down. iSpot Lyme test has saved the lives of countless patients and friends. If you have a strong immune system, you're right, it can do wonders to keep these issues dormant. The problem is… the majority of america has shot immune systems for several reasons. I agree, healthy food should be the priority over supplements as a foundation for great long term health. Thanks for taking the time to write! – Dr. Jones

  21. Naturally My Dear says:

Ben, this podcast almost had me in tears. it was so helpful!!! I am trying to learn as much as I can to choose wisely the expensive tests that are available to me through my Functional Medicine Doctor. This podcast gave me a lot of direction.

I have had toxic mold exposure at a few different periods in my life. I took many antibiotics in my 20's for recurrent sinus infections and bronchitis. I also struggled with extreme hypermesis gravidarium with both my pregnancies and recently saw a study on linking this to h.pylori infection. I also have HSV and have had 2 shingles outbreaks in my lifetime at the very old age of 35, LOL. Finally, I have MTHFR a1298c. Oh and did I mention that I have an 8% metal toxicity in my blood?
I feel like the poster child for this podcast.

I'm currently on the AIP diet to address a leaky gut (Cyrex verfied) as well as avoiding additional foods that came back positive on my food allergies panel (also Cyrex). I get regular sleep, and light exercise such as walking and yoga. I'm addressing vitamin deficiencies and methylation through supplements. I have felt a difference in energy when I go about my day but anything more than walking or yoga really tuckers me out as far as exercise goes. I'm used to having tons of energy. To most people I look functional yet I can feel that I'm not quite 100% yet.

My stool test through Genova showed no parasites, or inflammatory markers. Yet I was not tested for h.pylori. I have read that it is a frequent practice for Functional Medicine Doctors to run two different stool tests side by side as they can sometimes show different results. Should I ask my dr. to do this? Since I have the hypermesis gravidarium in my history as well as mold exposure, I'd really like to run tests for those as well.

My wish list would be to run a full genetic test through 23andme, do an additional stool test with h.pylori, run the Cyrex panel which shows antibodies for autoimmune diseases, and the appropriate tests for mold. Any insights on how to prioritize these would be greatly appreciated!!!

I'm really thankful for all of your work. Please keep the information coming. It's truly helping people.

    1. Response from Dr Jones: Thank you so much for this! I hear you. I would experiment with using a different test for sure. The GIfx panel is quite good, but you may want to try Doctors Data's Comprehensive Stool Analysis w Parasitology x 3 and add the H. Pylori.

Depending on what Cyrex Panels you do, the wheat panel almost always shows people are allergic to wheat and have anti-bodies for those. I would do the #1. Stool #2. 23 & Me then pop it through genetic genie to see what susceptibilities you may have (remember it's not gospel, but up to a 90% – 95% accuracy).

Thanks again for the amazing feedback! Really appreciate it! :)

  22. Anthony says:

Loved the show. Isaac seems to really know his stuff. As an alternative practitioner and FNP student, I plan on taking these modalities into practice. Just a great show!
