Listener Q&A:

The Effects Of CBD On Cortisol…33:10

Q: I've been working on anxiety and nausea and am trying to do it naturally. I was working on supplements and CBD oil for high cortisol. I went to an endocrinologist and it turns out I have low morning cortisol. I thought CBD oil was helping me a lot, but now I'm having second thoughts. What do you think?

In my response, I recommend:

Which Artificial Sweeteners Are OK To Consume?…1:02:20

Q: I'll be starting the Gaps diet shortly, specifically for the first 2-week intensive “intro diet.” Just wondering if things like NutriSweet can have a negative effect. I eat sugar-free gum a lot and drink Diet Coke from time to time. Just curious if these things will undermine the process.

In my response, I recommend:
– Omica Organics Stevia
Monk Fruit

How To Get Carbs On A Carnivore Diet…1:16:18

Q: I just listened to the podcast on the Carnivore Diet, and it made my jaw drop. I was wondering how someone training for an Ironman triathlon who's just learned about this new information, and who consumes a lot of vegetables, can implement a Carnivore diet and still take in carbs while training for the event.

In my response, I recommend:

  1. AK says:

Ben, your co-host is correct: the artificial sweetener is aspartame (3 syllables). It is not aspartamine (4 syllables), which is an amino acid.

  2. WC says:

Ben, i am interested in trying the BP-157 for knee issues. But I am on 2 prescription medications administered by my endocrinologist, hypothyroidism and hormone replacement. How would I find if BP-157 would affect these. I asked my primary and endocrinologist but they don’t have the ability, knowledge to answer these questions. Who could I turn to? I know you cannot give medical advice

  3. Steve says:

What’s up Ben….another good sweetener is Glycine…2-3 grams hits the sweet spot in my morning coffee!!

  4. Kristin Brown says:

Have you heard of or tried Just Like Sugar as a sugar substitute? It’s made primarily from chicory root fiber. For baking they suggest using more of their product than the amount of sugar in the recipe, but I find it’s rather sweet and use about 1/4 – 1/2 of what the recipe says. From my experience, less better anyway since it’s all fiber.

    1. Haven't tried it yet. Thanks for the heads up!

  6. Jose says:

    Hi Mr. Greenfield,

What dose of vitamin C is recommended to take after musculoskeletal surgery and for how long?

    Thank you.

    1. I wouldn't exceed 5,000mg per day, and it is best to break up into 3-4 doses to minimize stomach distress. However, one that I'm able to use in pretty high doses without too much concern of GI issues is from American Nutriceuticals: https://amzn.to/2QevNNp

  7. Tetsuo says:

I baked most of my food, sometimes I cook with butter. I never use any type of oils. I called some of the top organic restaurants and spent some time at local farmers market almost all of them use grape seed oil. What’s your thoughts on that oil?

    1. Personally I like a really high quality olive oil more, but you could certainly do worse than an organic grape seed oil, especially for high temp cooking (avocado oil is nice too).

  8. Tetsuo says:

What’s your thoughts on glycerin on vanilla extract for a sweetener for hot cocoa ?

    1. I don't love it. Could just use a high quality stevia like Omica Organics: https://amzn.to/2w87FTs

      1. Tetsuo says:

        Good stuff.
