I've got one problem with the whole “sitting is the new smoking” movement.
There's a lack of practical solutions for how to fix what happens to your body when you sit, how to structure your workday to minimize the damage of sitting, and how to make your body bulletproof to the issues with sitting.
So in today's podcast, I interview physical therapists Chad Walding and Brenda Walding, authors of the new book “The Sitting Solution: How To Save Your Spine, Body & Life.”
During the interview, Chad and Brenda discuss what happens to your body when you sit, why standing may not be the best solution, how to fix the issues that happen to your body when you sit, and the unique set of problems facing athletes who sit.

Do you know anything about “The Level” from Fluidstance? I have back issues and use a standing desk, but it also gets sore (different sore than from sitting) if I stand still too long. I thought this might be a solution. The reviews seem pretty positive, but it’s a bit expensive.

Wondering your thoughts on standing up to eat a meal?
Just want to say thanks for everything you do!
It makes the meal zero calories. Haha. Just kidding. Actually I don't recommend it. It can activate sympathetic nervous system and inhibit digestive pathways. Lounge like a Roman king, or sit when you're eating.

I use the alarm on my iPod to get up hourly to move around for around 2 minutes based on my iPod timer
During those hourly 2-minutes I basically just move around and look as ridiculous as possible if no one is around to see me–No set pattern, just move, move, move as much of you as possible–No official moves, but just moving as much in me as I can move
Wear a pedometer and see if you can keep adding steps
Too, every chance I get "I walk around the world to get across the street": I use when I can, park in the outer part of parking lots, walk way around in a store to get the item even if the item is in front of the store
I am a firm believer in hourly movement involving as much of me as I can control

Hi Ben,
Not related to the podcast, but I was wondering if you had any information on the fulvic acid water? (black water) Is it any different from other mineral waters? Thanks for all the great information on these podcasts.
