Today's rambling is an abbreviated one.
Why?
Well, frankly, I've been knee-deep—or, I suppose more appropriately stated, microphone-deep—in recording the complete, self-narrated audiobook version of my book Fit Soul.
And, in the wee hours of the morning when the rest of the family is asleep, I've been working on recording my first album.
So, as a result, I've had to buckle down quite a bit the past few weeks and do a tad less deep work on my usual article writing. However, I thought it would be fun to share with you the lyrics from one of the original songs that will appear on this album I've been working on.
My desire for this particular song was to write a mildly epic, anthem-like praise and worship song that a choir or crowd could belt out at the top of their lungs to give glory to the Almighty Creator.
The song is titled “You Are God Eternal.” The full lyrics appear below, along with my recording of the song itself. “You Are God Eternal” wraps up worship of the entire Holy Trinity into three verses, with the first verse worshiping God, the second worshiping Jesus, and the third worshiping the Holy Spirit.
Finally, you can of course feel free to use this song in your own church or worship services if you'd like. I'd be honored, actually, as that is my vision and intention for this song. In other words, if you know a praise and worship leader, musician, church, or anyone else who would like to use this song for worship, then, by all means, proceed! If helpful, the tablature appears here.
You Are God Eternal
Verse 1:
You are God eternal, holy Yahweh, El Elyon and Adonai
Rock of all the ages, from beginning, Creator of the earth and sky
Praise to the great I Am, amen, amen, amen
Verse 2:
You are Son eternal, from beginning, Prince Of Peace, Emmanuel
Faithful and true witness, son of Mary, anointed one of Israel
Hosanna to the lamb, amen, amen, amen
Verse 3:
You are Holy Spirit, Dove descending, blessed and anointing fire
Joy of the Almighty, intercessor, presence of our God most high
Divine, inspiring breath, amen, amen, amen
Chorus out:
Amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen
I'm curious to hear your thoughts and feedback on this song. Music is a total side hobby and passion project for me, but I enjoy singing and songwriting immensely and could see myself doing more of it in the future. I hope that hearing a bit of my music blesses and encourages you, and you can, of course, feel free to share wherever you would like.
By the way, my studio editing collaborator on this project was the talented and wonderful Tracy Towns, who also collaborated with me on a cover song I recorded with my children and wife called “The Blessing,” which I featured on Instagram a few months ago (you can listen to it here), and who is also working with me on a full ten-song set we'll have ready by the end of this year.
In the meantime, leave any comments below, and definitely also ping me there in the comments section or via my contact form here on the website if you can help get this song out to churches, musicians, and worship leaders. There would be nothing greater for this song than for it to be belted out by hundreds of thousands of people worshiping God on a Sunday morning, and that vision is my prayer!
I thought this was beautiful! It really moved me and I am going to share with my church members :)
Thank you for this precious gift Ben. You have no idea how much your hard work and passion has benefitted my life.
Love it!
… Needs more bass :)
Your posts and knowledge really minister to me. Your beautiful worship reminded me of a worship song I made last year. God Bless and thanks for everything you’re obedient in and doing for others.
I love that you’re putting this out to the world! God is worthy of our praise and there are few of us in this alternative space willing to admit that there is a God and that we are not Him. haha
Thanks, Ben! I pray God blesses this project!
This is beautiful Ben. Keep writing and recording. The song with your family brought be to tears. Your family’s voices are wonderful together. Thank you for all you do. God Bless.
Thank you for this song. It reaches my soul. Listened 3 times and will again.

So much Appreciation Ben! In my opinion this is spot on and beautiful.
Wonderful, Ben! Very rich lyric and powerful rendition. All in His glory!!! Waiting for the full album.
This is the first time I heard Ben sing, and you got a beautiful voice! I’m seriously impressed and looking forward to the upcoming album.
So beautiful, your voice is strong and powerul, love to worship like this, blessing His Holy name. Pray that my three son’s and son-in law would come to Know Him. Amen and Amen!
WOW!
I cannot begin to express how powerful listening to you sing that song was.
I am an extremely spiritual person by nature, but I do air on the side of agnostic. And because I have such a huge respect for you, I am feeling moved to explore Christianity at a different level!
Much needed.
Thank you so much Ben!!
I recommend reading Jesus: An Interview Across Time: A Psychiatrist Looks at Christ’s Humanity . It really touched me with the humanity of Jesus and the Trinity.
Amazing song Ben! Thank you for sharing! 🙏🏼
A regular John Michael Talbott you is. Seriously, he is awesome.
An absolutely beautiful and moving song, thank you for sharing!!
Thank you!
Love the music and the lyrics joyfully praising our Heavenly Father, Jesus & the Holy Spirit. Wonderfully moving & uplifting 💗
Blessings to you and yours 🙏
Absolutely blown away by this song! I can really hear choirs of angels behind you. Your voice is so clear, resonant and strong as the song and the message. Definitely write more and more – the world needs your talents. Hope you get the song out to as many places as you desire and make the world a happy place.
I love this very much. I have listened to it many times. Thank you for producing it. It is wonderful.
Make it A Great Day!
Nevertheless cool, song, also very much like the Blessing
Just checked my email late in the afternoon and found your Sunday Ramblings, which I always enjoy. What a wonderful surprise to hear this song that praises the Trinity, that honors the Godhead. I commend you for boldly sharing your faith and using this platform to do so. As the Apostle Paul so boldly proclaimed that he was not “ashamed of the Gospel of Christ,” you are following His example. May the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit continue to guide and bless your life and ministry.
How beautiful! God has blessed you with such talent. I’m humbled by the way you boldly profess the name of Christ in the position of influence that you have. Just coming home from a spiritual retreat this was perfect to hear. Thank you for sharing! I look forward to hearing the audiobook.
Awesome song!!
Great job! Thank you for sharing.
Lovely song of Praise, the song just resonated with me!
Well done! Keep presenting Jesus to the world.
As a church pianist/organist, I think you do very well. Record something with a piano and the mighty pipe organ!
I love it! Tears of love are in my eyes. Please keep touching hearts with love for Jesus.
Amen, amen, amen, Ben!!! 💕✝️💕
Thank you! Keep writing and recording!
Ben,
Thank you for boldly sharing your faith. People like yourself (articulate, passionate & uniquely qualified in their fields) are a powerful influence within our culture.
You are a great source of inspiration both physically & spiritually. Your boys are very lucky to have you as their dad.
I am actually lost for words. I enjoyed this song and will share it. It has also inspired me immensely as I am putting together pieces from the podcast regarding driven personalities and how I relate. When we pursue God and use our driven energy to worship and serve Him we can bring forth fruit. This has actually inspired me to pray about how I can do the same.
Uplifting!
Wow what a beautiful song that glorifies our Lord! What incredible talent you have Ben! I was blown away that this was you singing! You should be a worship leader! Keep writing keep singing keep glorifying our precious Lord Jesus!! You are such a blessing to so many! Sing it from the rooftops!!
Beautiful. So grateful for your leadership in the most important things. God bless you and your family as you continue to walk in the Spirit through Sabbath ramblings, music, and more.
Blessed through and through. Thank you!!
I always look forward to your Sunday Sabbath!
What a beautiful, powerful song!! And yes – this is perfect for belting out as an anthem of praise!! I wonder if I might be able to use this for our church? I’m a musician/worship leader and this would be a fantastic song to close a service with – and open the week with!
I wonder what slightly slowing down the tempo might do? The rich and dynamic lyrics seem to beg for the time to chew on them a little more. Just a thought- not a criticism.
Thank you for sharing your love for God so openly!
feel free to play with it however you would like for your worship service! Adapt at will Nathalie!
Beautiful! You are full of surprises :-)…
I would love to hear your album when it’s completed.
So beautiful!!!
This is beautiful Ben! You have mad talent. Cannot wait to hear more. God Bless you for sharing your faith. It is the most important thing any Christian can do in our short time on earth. Have a blessed Easter season.
Singing seem to one of the ways to help with the vagus nerve including gargling water and laughing so it is heathy for the wellbeing as a whole.
Beautiful song. Just what I wanted to hear on this Sunday morning. God bless you. If I don’t meet you earth, I will see you in heaven 😊
You must do more! The world is in such peril and your voice, strong yet gentle, models love and praise. Just what we need right now, a song of hope.
Such Love and Peace you bring with your music! Thank you🙏❤️🙏
Listened to the song with my heart, not only my ears. It gave me a sense of eternity, of wholeness, of connection to all that is. I know that this is in me already but it resonated so sweetly in me with the music and lyrics. I think this is what you wrote this song for….so be proud for the mission is accomplished…..and I’m so grateful to you for sharing!
Ben! This is beautiful! I love the names of God. Your song helps us get our eyes on Him in the midst of all that’s going on. Thank you!
Oh my gosh! I absolutely LOVE it! I can feel God’s presence through your voice and lyrics (and the background music.) I’m actually following you because of the spiritual side of your work. I feel God’s anointing on your life. Can’t wait to hear more! (and read more as well!)
Powerful and moving – and I’m not even a Christian.
Thanks for your boldness to speak truth and now amazing worship!
God has blessed you with many talents.. Emotionally, Physically & Spiritually fit..
Thank you for helping us all in each bucket
Warm Regards,
Regina
