Allow me to begin by clarifying a very important thing: I am not a pothead, a stoner, or a recreational drug enthusiast.
Never was.
Growing up, I was originally a fantasy fiction writing, World Of Warcraft dominating geek in my early years, and later in high school and college was a clean-living, well-shaven jock athlete with a substance abuse problem that consisted primarily of copious amounts of creatine, caffeine, and canned protein shakes.
Until recently, unless you count smoking a very small number of joints at a few random parties in college, about the closest I've come to what might be considered “fringe” substance use has been via occasional use of nootropics and herbal extracts like packets of concentrated Chinese herbs, smart drugs like piracetam, aniracetam, and alpha-GPC combinations (see my white powder on a kitchen scale video here) and vaporizing nighttime sleep extracts of melatonin and L-theanine (yet another creepy video here).
Of course, if you're a regular podcast listener or you read my recent article on the “The Effect Of Weed On Exercise: Is Marijuana A Performance-Enhancing Drug?“, then you already know that subsequent to the legalization of weed in my home state of Washington, I've been experimenting with edible tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) for exercise performance, and also experimenting with vaporizing indica-rich strains of marijuana for creativity, relaxation and sleep.
So there: now I'm a bonified druggie. But let's move on, because in this article, we're going to delve into a derivative of the cannabis plant family that has some pretty massive payoffs for balancing your endocrine system, relieving anxiety, modulating chronic stress, shutting down inflammation and chronic pain, decreasing blood sugar, decreasing appetite and lowering abdominal obesity.
In other words, you're going to learn about a form of cannabis with none of the psychoactive, paranoia-inducing effects of regular weed and all of the benefits.
Weed 101
So let's say you didn't grow up in the '60s, never had stoner parents, have lived a relatively clean life, or simply smoke joints without ever thinking too hard about what's happening chemically. Here's a bit of “Weed 101”.
When people talk about marijuana or use marijuana, they're usually referring to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). What’s THC? It’s the part of the hemp plant (AKA the cannabis plant) that induces a euphoric state. Or an annoying state, mildly schizophrenic state, depending on your perspective. We can at least say beyond a shadow of a doubt that it makes Family Guy episodes way, way funnier.
And of course, THC is what most recreational weed users are looking for, which is probably why botanists have figured out since the 1960's how to increase the amount of THC from around 3% to 5% in the 1960s to as much as 28% in our current decade. So yes, it's true that we're not smoking the weed our parents smoked, and one draw on a typical joint these days would probably knock your mom on her ass.
As you learned a little about in my article on the effects of THC on exercise performance, THC fits into a site called the CB1 receptor in the cerebral cortex of your brain, and this is what causes you to experience a cerebral high, and if you fill in too many of those CB1 receptors, a very, very long time sitting on your couch.
And then there's cannabidiol (CBD), pictured right, which is one of at least 85 active cannabinoids identified in cannabis, but is a major part of the cannabis plant, accounting for up to 40% of the plant's total cannabinoid extract. Due mostly to its safety and legality, CBD has long been researched for a much wider scope of medical applications than tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). We'll get into the most relevant of those medical applications later.
But first more Weed 101 – specifically, how the CBD is actually separated from the THC. And to understand this, you need to put on your straw hat and for the next 60 seconds become a hemp field farmer.
See, hemp fields are simply fields of cannabis plants that grow under conditions in which the male plants have been allowed to fertilize the female plants. When you separate the male and female plants, the females can’t be pollinated, so they produce lots of THC (in what is known as “resinous THC form”) as a result. But when the female is allowed to be pollinated, she barely produces any THC. In fact, the happily sexed up female produces less than 1% THC.
So to gain a higher production of THC in a field of cannabis plants, you simply take away the male plants so the females can’t be pollinated, and to lower THC production, you keep the male and female plants together. Plants used for CBD oil or CBD capsules or hemp oil or hemp protein or your hippie neighbor's tie-dyed hemp headwear meet the international standards of less than 1% THC.

The Wonderful World Of CBD Chemistry
Screech.
Back it up!
Why on earth would you want to dump a bunch of CBD into your body with none of the fun, psychoactive properties of THC? Don't worry, we'll get to that. There are some very, very good reasons.
But first, it's important for you to understand what's going on inside your body when you consume this CBD stuff from those happily mating male and female plants.
You already learned that THC attaches mostly to CB1 receptors. On the other hand, most people will tell you that CBD fits into a different receptor, the (…drumroll please…) CB2 receptor, thus magically minimizing the effects from the CB1 receptor and providing all the medical benefits without the psychoactive high from THC.
Sigh. I wish it were that easy.
CBD actually has a very low affinity for both CB1 and CB2 receptors but acts as an indirect antagonist of their agonists. Woo-boy. Head spinning? All this means is the following: all the things that would normally activate the CB1 or the CB2 receptors are turned off or turned down by CBD.
For example, CBD can increase CB1 receptor density so that there's just too many CB1 receptors for THC to bind to, thus taking the edge off the potential psychoactivity of weed, while still retaining all the opioid-like painkilling effects. In case you are concerned about this meaning you have to buy more weed or take more hits if you're using CBD oil, you should also know that CBD can extend the duration of the effects of THC by inhibiting the cytochrome P-450 enzymes that would cause you to more rapidly metabolize THC.
So your plasma concentrations of THC increase when you're using CBD, resulting in a greater amount of THC available to receptors and increasing the effect of THC in a dose-dependent manner (which means the more CBD you use, the more THC becomes available). But along with this increase, CBD also acts as an antagonist at the a cannabinoid receptor called GPR55 in the caudate nucleus and putamen sections of your brain, reducing paranoia-like effects or heart-beat racing from weed.
Yes, I know. Eyes glazing over.
Blah, blah, insert Ben Greenfield geek-speak drone sounds here. Place propeller hat on head. Tuck in shirt and gently put pocket protector in its place.
Wake up!
Here's what I'm getting at: the magic of CBD is not really based on its action on CB1 or CB2 receptors, unless you're using CBD to specifically elongate the effects of THC or to take any unpleasant psychoactive edge off THC. Which works just fine, by the way.
As a matter of fact, if CBD did indeed attach to CB1 and CB2 receptors it would have the same addictive potential of THC. But since its mechanism of action is not dependent on receptors associated with addiction, CBD is not addictive or habit-forming. So while the receptor explanation is conveniently simple, it's not quite accurate.
Instead, CBD acts as an agonist on an entirely different receptor called the 5-HT1A receptor, and this is how CBD actually works as an antidepressant with anti-anxiety and neuroprotective effects. It also serves as what is called an “allosteric modulator” of your opioid receptors, which is how it works to remove pain and reduce the effects of chronic inflammation. Other positive medical effects of CBD (there's over 60 of them, if you care to read up on them here) are due to increased intracellular calcium release and agonism of another receptor called the PPAR-γ receptor.
So let's put this into real world context.
As you may know or as you may have forgotten (ha!) short term memory problems are really common with THC. That's why the extremely funny, laugh-snorting joke you told last night is impossible to remember the next morning. Don't worry, it probably wasn't as funny as you thought it was last night. But a 2010 study found that CBD eliminates any memory loss problem from weed. In the study, researchers used plants bred for high CBD and low THC plants, and attributed this attenuation of memory loss to CBD's role as a CB1 antagonist.
Here's another interesting fact for you: CBD has really strong anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, due primarily to its effects on your adenosine receptors and cytochrome P-450 and 2C enzymes. When this was first discovered, the US government insisted that cannabis had no medical benefits, but at the same time, they took out patent 6,630,507, which gave them rights to the antioxidant properties of cannabis (which they ironically still claim don’t exist). Incidentally, that patent was not extended to actual oil or capsule extracts of cannabis, so the good ol' US gummint missed out on some pretty good business opportunities, if you ask me.
It's also nearly impossible to overdose on CBD. Kind of like water, dark chocolate, and steamed kale, it has an unusually low level of toxicity. In the last 6,000 years, CBD hasn’t killed anyone via overdose, which is particularly impressive when you compare it to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen, Advil and Tylenol, which can wreak havoc on your gut lining, liver and kidneys. Or aspirin (salicylic acid) which kills over 1,000 people every year. Or alcohol, which kills over 110,000 people a year. No one’s ever died from CBD.
As a matter of fact, leading up to this article, I've used very high amounts of CBD (100+mg) with no ill effect, aside from extreme feelings of relaxation, calm and the impression that if my home caught on fire I probably wouldn't care (OK, so maybe that's an ill effect).

A Very Brief History of CBD
Now of course, you could stop reading here and scroll down to fill yourself in on all the benefits of CBD oil, and the specific conditions for which it can come in handy. But I actually find the history of cannabis quite fascinating, especially given America's persistent widespread disapproval and/or fear of its use. It's not like this stuff just popped up like Red Bull energy drinks, ecstasy, Lunesta, or Adderall. Instead I'd kinda clump cannabis right in with organic vegetables and essential oils.
About 2,700 years ago, in Persia, a spiritual teacher named Zoroaster penned a sacred text of about 10,000 plants. As you can read about in this more incredibly detailed history of cannabis, Zoraster interestingly included hemp at the tippy-top of his compendium. Hippocrates, the father of western medicine, also recommended cannabis extracts.
Cannabis also has links to Christianity – specifically through the Ethiopian Coptic Church, which is held to have been established by St. Mark (the guy in the New Testament of The Bible) in AD 45. The Copts claim that the use of marijuana as a sacrament descended from a Jewish sect called the Essenes (the folks who wrote the Dead Sea Scrolls). According to the Coptic Church, cannabis played an important role in early Christian and Judaic rituals, specifically as a sacrament burned in tabernacles, to commemorate important occasions such as communication with God on Mount Sinai by Moses, and the transfiguration of Christ.
Tell that to your Sunday School teacher.
Later, Queen Victoria's physician and one of the world's leading doctors of that era, Sir Russell Reynolds, prescribed medicinal cannabis for the Queen's menstrual cramps, for which CBD still works fantastically today. When writing about medical marijuana in the first edition of the British medical journal The Lancet, Reynolds proclaimed that cannabis is “one of the most valuable medicines we possess.” Another widely hailed physician at the time, Sir William Osler, used CBD for migraines with excellent results.
The father of French psycho-pharmacology, Dr. Jean-Jacques Moreau de Tours, used the cannabis plant to treat depression, another condition still widely treated with cannabis in the modern era. Later, during the Revolutionary War, soldiers were paid with cannabis, and presidents George Washington and Thomas Jefferson encouraged farmers to grow more hemp to produce more rope and paper, as well as clothing and ship sails (which dates back to the Egyptians using hemp sails on their Nile boats 3,000-4,000 years ago). During WWII, American farmers were also asked to grow as much hemp as possible. Last time I checked, the US government isn't politely asking farmers to grow hemp anymore, although corn and grain subsidies are booming.
Anything that can be made of plastic can also be made from hemp, which can reduce exposure to phytoestrogens and other chemicals in plastic and other synthetic compounds. Hemp plant fibers are long and tough, and can be woven into a soft cloth that wears well and has fewer of the herbicides and pesticides associated with other modern cloths like cotton. Even copies of the Declaration of Independence used to be written on hemp paper, since it doesn’t yellow with age like other papers do.
As you've probably already heard, the hemp plant itself is a highly useful plant, and every part of it has been used to make a wide variety of products, including biofuel and medicine. Biofuel made from hemp seeds is far less expensive and more effective than ethanol derived from corn. If there weren't so many federal restrictions, growing hemp would highly benefit any agricultural state, but unfortunately most states must pay an absurdly high premium to import hemp seeds. And of course, as you're probably aware, both THC and CBD seem to be immersed in a constant struggle of medical legality that I simply don't have the time to address in this post.
Nonetheless, when it comes to CBD oil and cannabidiol, people seem be getting more aware of the fact that you don't need to be a pothead to get all the relaxing and hormone and metabolism-balancing properties of weed. Not that the image below is based on hard scientific epidemiological data, but a quick glance at a Google trends profile of searches for “CBD Oil” speaks volumes, doesn't it?
————————-
Is CBD Addictive OR Unsafe?
So, if CBD oil is so freaking magical, there must be a downside right? Addictive potential, perhaps? Toxicity and lack of proven safety? Although I touched on the absence of CB1 and CB2 receptor binding earlier in this article, let's delve into the addictive or unsafe potential of CBD just a bit more.
First, there is zero evidence anywhere that CBD is addictive. This is because CBD does not act on any receptors in the brain that would produce addiction. You already learned about the science behind that whole receptor thing.
There, that was easy, huh?
But if you want more details then click here to read some of the writings of Dr. Tod Mikuriya, former national administrator of the US government's marijuana research programs, was quite outspoken on the subject of addiction. The late Dr. Mikuriya stated that no other single drug or substance has as many therapeutic benefits as cannabis, and he never discovered any evidence of cannabis addiction.
Now don't get me wrong – some will indeed claim that cannabis is addictive. For example, the Boggs Act of 1951 established mandatory sentences for drug users and also claimed that cannabis was addictive. But since then, testimony given by Dr. Harris Isbell, Director of Research at the Public Health Service hospital in Lexington, Kentucky exposed this as false, explaining how cannabidiols from marijuana are not physically addictive.
But Dr. Isbell's research was mostly ignored, and instead, overshadowed by the argument that the plant inevitably is the stepping stone to heroin addiction, and the calling for harsh penalties against offenders of the marijuana laws. But the concept of marijuana as a “gateway drug” remains completely unproven.
In over 6,000 years of usage in Oriental Medicine, there have been no cases of addiction reported (although Emperor Fu Hsi referred to cannabis as a popular remedy as early as 2,900 BC).
In the early 1900s, as part of the Prohibition movement, cannabis was claimed by many to be addictive. But this was not based on research, and ironically the recommended treatment for cannabis “addiction” in most cases was the use of heroin.
An actual long term study, Ganja in Jamaica: A Medical Anthropological Study of Chronic Marijuana Use, which was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 1975, showed zero concerns with addiction, even after patients who had used cannabis for decades had stopped. The 1980 study Cannabis in Costa Rica: A Study in Chronic Marijuana Use backed this up. Most interestingly, studies like this are not finding any addictive potential with CBD even in the presence of THC!
In the early 1990's, rehabilitation facilities did indeed experience a significant surge of patients who were “addicted” to cannabis. But a survey done at that time noted that nearly all of them had come from the court system, where judges gave convicted criminals the choice between entering into treatment for addiction or entering prison, which was probably a pretty simple choice for most.
Later in the 1990's, the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) funded research that had the goal of proving that cannabis is addictive. But instead of identifying any biochemical pathway that could cause addiction, any research defined addiction by the presence or absence of some degree of withdrawal, with no specific parameters for withdrawal actually defined. In other words, if you're thirsty, this NIDA-funded research could argue that this means you are addicted to water.
As a matter of fact, here's what this article reported about NIDA.
The ugly truth is that the US National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), the agency that oversees 85 percent of the world’s research on controlled substances, is on record stating that its institutional policy is to reject any and all medical marijuana research. “As the National Institute on Drug Abuse, our focus is primarily on the negative consequences of marijuana use,” a NIDA spokesperson told The New York Times in 2010. “We generally do not fund research focused on the potential beneficial medical effects of marijuana.”
Bummer.
And how about the safety of cannabis?
Dr. Lester Grinspoon, Professor Emeritus at Harvard Medical School, spent the majority of his professional life studying cannabis, from the 1960's to 2000's. The result was “Marijuana: The Forbidden Medicine“. As you can see, Dr. Grinspoon didn’t find one single case of death, stating that
“There are no deaths from cannabis use. Anywhere. You can't find one.”
There are dozens of other doctors and similar studies, too many to list here – but you can certainly delve in at ProjectCBD website. On September 6, 1988 Francis Young, an administrative DEA judge, took medical testimony for over two weeks, and at the end of it, he said,
“Marijuana, in its natural form, is one of the safest therapeutically active substances known to man.”
Once again, even when talking about THC combined with CBD, and not the isolated, non-psychoactive CBD component, marijuana is shown to be both non-addictive and safe.
But when it comes to pain management, one of the primary uses for CBD oil, deaths from drug overdoses and drug poisoning continue to rise. Deaths from opioid analgesics – one of the most universally prescribed pain management drugs – increased from 4,030 in 1999 to 15,597 in 2009 and 16,651 in 2010. In 2010, 60 percent of all drug overdose deaths (22,134) involved pharmaceutical drugs, and opioid analgesics showed up in about 3 of every 4 of those pharmaceutical overdose deaths. That confirms the predominant role that research has shown opioid analgesics to play in drug-related mortality. Opioids are nasty, brutal drugs with side effects nearly as bad as the conditions they're taken for, and although deaths from opioids are common, they're still one of the most turned to bandaids in modern medicine.
CBD in proper dosages gives nearly the same pain reduction compared to opioid prescription drugs, such as morphine, hydrocodone, and oxycodone, and when combined with these drugs, allows you to use far less of the actual prescription, thus reducing the toxic load on your liver and kidneys. And of course, as you already know, these benefits come without the proven addictive or unsafe nature of opioid drugs.
Considering the complete non-addictiveness and safety of cannabis, Dr. James Hudson, PhD, Professor Emeritus, University of British Columbia Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine, has said that pharmaceutical companies have an enormous incentive to chemically recreate the natural compounds in marijuana and somehow sell a drug from it. You probably already know this, but pharmaceutical companies can't patent a natural compound, but if they can make a synthetic compound that mimics ingredient from cannabis, they can formulate that as a drug and potentially make a lot more money off of it.
To get an idea of the benefits of CBD, just take a look at video of CBD oil helping with a form of childhood epilepsy called Dravet syndrome. The first use of CBD for Dravet's syndrome was given to a patient who was having 300 seizures a week. I first talked about this video last year Is Weed Healthy? The Controversial Truth About The Science Of Marijuana…
Do you see that? The form of epilepsy in that video usually kills the child.
Here's a nearly identical video of a patient with multiple sclerosis (MS) who was given CBD…
…and cerebral palsy. When you watch the video below, it becomes even more ironic that the government once created a prohibition of cannabis, declaring that it “has no medical usage”.
You get the idea, and now you probably also have a pretty good idea of why pharmaceutical companies would want to patent some chemical-ized version of this. So, I'd suspect that we're not too far away from an enormously overpriced cannabis-like chemical produced in a pharmaceutical factory. But in the meantime, you can get the identical effects from entirely natural sources of CBD. Let's take a look at what some of those most relevant effects would be.

The Effects Of CBD On Hormones
Anyways, now we're about to get to the good stuff, specifically things that I figured health-minded readers like you would actually find helpful, such as hormone balancing, de-stressing, enhanced sleep, fat loss, etc. But if you want to simply stop reading now, and take a side-track to go peruse the more than 20,000 articles published in peer reviewed journals that show the medical efficacy of CBD for a variety of other conditions in addition to what I've listed here, then knock yourself out.
Let's begin with your endocrine system and hormones. Here are the studies:
- Endocannabinoid system participates in neuroendocrine control of homeostasis (PubMed)
- The emerging role of the endocannabinoid system in endocrine regulation and energy balance(PubMed)
- Endocannabinoids in endocrine and related tumours (PubMed)
- Role of the endocannabinoid system in food intake, energy homeostasis and regulation of the endocrine pancreas (PubMed)
- The role of the endocannabinoid system in the neuroendocrine regulation of energy balance (PubMed)
- Effect of cannabidiol on plasma prolactin, growth hormone and cortisol in human volunteers (PubMed)
Your endocrine system consists of glands throughout your body which regulate everything from energy levels to metabolism to sex drive. One major function of this system is to produce excitation in response to stress, which is of course necessary for survival, but when it gets out of hand it can be a source of excess stress. One big effect of cannabidiol in the endocrine system seems to be to protect against excess stress by reducing susceptibility to stress-induced activation in the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis. CBD significantly decreases plasma cortisol levels, and this is actually why I started using CBD in the first place – to reduce my cortisol.
But CBD has other effects on your endocrine system, particularly your appetite. You may simply think that marijuana produces the munchies and therefore makes you fat, and although this makes logical sense, science has shown that it's not the case that marijuana makes you fat, especially when CBD is present.
Here's how it works…
Your pancreas secretes the hormones glucagon and insulin to regulate blood sugar by signaling your liver to break down fat into sugar (glucagon) or to store sugar as fat (insulin). These hormones work as a pair to maintain homeostasis, and they stimulate the release of each other through a complex feedback mechanism. While THC primarily increases glucagon and blood sugar, CBD lowers insulin levels, and it is this CBD action that helps to explain why marijuana users tend to eat more calories but do not gain any extra weight, have less obesity and have lower rates of type II diabetes than non-users, and is also why some diabetics find that marijuana makes it easier to manage their blood sugar.
Type II diabetics (whose pancreas still functions) tend to have very high levels of insulin, but the liver is unable to use that insulin, so blood sugar stays high, and the pancreas eventually damages itself by trying to continually produce more and more insulin, eventually leading to organ failure if the diabetes is unmanaged. By lowering pancreatic insulin release, CBD may alleviate or prevent the progression of type II diabetes and blood sugar disorders. Cannabinoid antagonists such as CBD have been shown to reduce obesity, and not only do rodents given these antagonists eat less, but they also lose more weight than their reduced feeding can account for.
So the summary of the biggest effects of CBD on the endocrine system? Lower cortisol and better blood sugar control. Let's move on.

The Effects Of CBD On Anxiety & Stress
You've already seen the data on the big cortisol-lowering effects of CBD. But when it comes to anxiety and paranoia in general, a THC-rich strain of marijuana will actually increase not decrease stress unless there is enough CBD present to balance out the stress-increasing effect of weed.
Studies in humans, including many of those cited below, have demonstrated that CBD dosage reduces anxiety (once again, compared to the increased levels of anxiety that THC produces), and that when you combine CBD with THC, it takes the anxiety edge off THC. This is due to the action of CBD on 5HT1A and TRPV1 receptors, both of which are involved in mitigating the anxiolytic, panic and fear responses to stress.
Here are the studies that have specifically investigated CBD's role as an anxiolytic:
- Cannabidiol, a Cannabis sativa constituent, as an anxiolytic drug (PubMed)
- Antidepressant-Like and Anxiolytic-Like Effects of Cannabidiol: A Chemical Compound of Cannabis Sativa (PubMed)
- Cannabidiol reduces the anxiety induced by simulated public speaking in treatment-naïve social phobia patients (PubMed)

- Central anandamide deficiency predicts stress-induced anxiety: behavioral reversal through endocannabinoid augmentation (PubMed)
- Effects of cannabidiol (CBD) on regional cerebral blood flow (PubMed)
- The anxiolytic-like effects of cannabidiol injected into the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis are mediated by 5-HT1A receptors (PubMed)
- The anxiolytic effect of cannabidiol on chronically stressed mice depends on hippocampal neurogenesis: involvement of the endocannabinoid system (PubMed)
- Plant-based medicines for anxiety disorders, part 2: A review of clinical studies with supporting preclinical evidence (PubMed)
When it comes to stress, which is of course significantly related to anxiety, the host of studies are just as impressive:
- Endogenous cannabinoid signaling is essential for stress adaptation (PubMed)
- Regulation of endocannabinoid signaling by stress: Implications for stress-related affective disorders (PubMed)
- Functional interactions between stress and the endocannabinoid system: from synaptic signaling to behavioral output (PubMed)

- Downregulation of endocannabinoid signaling in the hippocampus following chronic unpredictable stress (PubMed)
- Endocannabinoids and stress (PubMed)
- Stress regulates endocannabinoid-CB1 receptor signaling (PubMed)
- Chronic Stress Impairs α1-Adrenoceptor-Induced Endocannabinoid-Dependent Synaptic Plasticity in the Dorsal Raphe Nucleus (Pub Med)
- Endocannabinoid-mediated modulation of stress responses: Physiological and pathophysiological significance (PubMed)
- Cannabinoid receptor activation prevents the effects of chronic mild stress on emotional learning and LTP in a rat model of depression (PubMed)
- Cannabinoids ameliorate impairments induced by chronic stress to synaptic plasticity and short-term memory (PubMed)
- The anxiolytic effect of cannabidiol on chronically stressed mice depends on hippocampal neurogenesis: involvement of the endocannabinoid system (PubMed)
- Low-frequency stimulation evokes serotonin release in the nucleus accumbens and induces long-term depression via production of endocannabinoid (PubMed)
This is just a small sample of the research showing the role that CBD plays in reducing stress and reducing anxiety. I've found that as little as 10mg CBD vastly lowers my anxiety at the end of the day, and have dosed with as high as 100mg CBD to be as calm as a baby during trans-Atlantic plane flights, nights sleeping in hotel rooms, and other situations where I have difficulty sleeping or tend to be stressed out. The stuff works like a charm, and saves me from having to hunt down an unhealthy, addictive alternative like valium or diazepam.

The Effects Of CBD On Inflammation
You can pretty much consider inflammation to be the freaking bane of our modern, fast-paced, industrialized lifestyles. Of the ten leading causes of mortality in the United States, chronic, low-level inflammation contributes to the pathogenesis of at least seven, specifically heart disease, cancer, chronic lower respiratory disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, and nephritis.
But from joint pain to irritable bowel syndrome to diabetic retinopathy, CBD has been shown to modulate both acute and chronic inflammatory issues via several different mechanisms, and from the research I've seen and cited below, it's even more powerful than many of the commonly recommend natural remedies for inflammation, such as curcumin, fish oil, resveratrol, anti-oxidants, proteolytic enzymes, Vitamin C, etc.
For example, cytokines are the signaling proteins synthesized and secreted by immune cells upon stimulation. They are the modulating factors that balance initiation and resolution of inflammation. One of the mechanisms of immune control by CBD during inflammation is stopping cytokine production by immune cells and lowering cytokine production by the T-helper cells Th1 and Th2 (which are interestingly the same cells in which overactivity can contribute to autoimmune issues and food intolerances). The inflammatory compound interleukin-6 (IL-6) can also be decreased in the presence of CBD.
In one interesting study, researchers decided to test the effect of CBD on four cell signaling or mediating molecules associated with intestinal inflammation and oxidative damage to the gut. Their findings were as follows:
- Inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) – CBD reduced the overexpression of iNOS in response to colitis. iNOS overexpression is well correlated with disease activity with colitis, and inhibitors of iNOS lead to improvement in experimental models of IBD. iNOS results in high-output production of NO, which results in oxidative damage to the intestine via reactive oxygen species (ROS).
- Interleukin-1β – levels significantly increased with experimental colitis. CBD was shown to decrease levels. IL-1β is shown to have potent pro-inflammatory activity and thus heightens the inflammatory response that leads to intestinal injury. IL-1β amplifies the production of inflammatory leukocytes (immune system cells), resulting in an increase of inflammation.
- Interleukin-10 – levels significantly decreased with experimental colitis. CBD was shown to restore levels. IL-10 has anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Restoration of IL-10 activity is critical to intestinal health.
The reduction of iNOS and reactive oxygen species by CBD, along with the reduction of lipid peroxidation, shows the important therapeutic action of CBD in reduction of colonic inflammation by indirect reduction of oxidative damage. In addition, the dysregulation of the interleukins IL-1B and IL-10 is a well-known disruption caused by irritable bowel disease (IBD). The restoration of these interleukins to normal behavior by CBD, although the specific pathway is unknown, is another important therapeutic action that CBD has on reduction of colonic inflammation.
Many of the folks I coach and do consults with have always struggled with a “sensitive gut”, irritable bowel syndrome, bloating, gas, constipation and other signs of gut inflammation, and being able to use CBD to reduce gut inflammation could be a game-changer for these people. But from the joints to neural tissue, CBD has a variety of other natural anti-inflammatory effects. Here is just a smattering of the studies done on cannabidiols and inflammation.

- The endocannabinoid system: an emerging key player in inflammation (PubMed)

- Cannabidiol attenuates cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity by decreasing oxidative/nitrosative stress, inflammation, and cell death (PubMed)
- Cannabinoids in clinical practice (PubMed)
Interestingly, the connection between CBD and inflammation can be highlighted using professional sports as an example. From MMA fighters to NBA basketball players, cannabis use is widespread among hard charging professional and a growing number of recreational athletes, specifically for shutting down the extreme amounts of joint inflammation and pain from constantly pounding the mat or the court and for helping the body relax and sleep at night after a day of stress combined with hard and heavy training. Many NFL athletes are now experimenting with cannabis extracts to manage post-head injury symptoms and to reduce the chronic mid and post-career aches and pains.
I'm sure that if these same athletes realized they could get all the same anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety and sleep effects from CBD, without having to worry about THC testing by their athlete's federation, they'd likely leap at the chance.

The Effects Of CBD On Metabolism & Body Fat
Bet you never thought you'd hear somebody recommending a weed derivative to lose weight, but it's true. Earlier in this article, you learned how CBD can help to stabilize insulin levels, regulate appetite, and decrease cortisol – all of which can have a profound effect on your body fat levels.
- The impact of marijuana use on glucose, insulin, and insulin resistance among US adults (American Journal of Medicine)
- The potential use of cannabidiol in the therapy of metabolic syndrome (PubMed)
- Cannabinoids and endocannabinoids in metabolic disorders with focus on diabetes (PubMed)
- Cannabinol and cannabidiol exert opposing effects on rat feeding patterns (PubMed)
- Cannabis and Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) for weight loss? (PubMed)
- The endocannabinoid system in obesity and type 2 diabetes (PubMed)
- Role of the endocannabinoid system in abdominal obesity and the implications for cardiovascular risk (PubMed)
- Cannabinoids and endocannabinoids in metabolic disorders with focus on diabetes (PubMed)
As I mentioned earlier, cannabidiol is known to counteract some of the effects of THC like the “munchies.” Just as THC can significantly increase your appetite, CBD can suppress your appetite, which is ideal if you're watching your figure. Here is a great two-minute video that sums up how marijuana can help obesity and body fat:
In the video, you learn about one study in which researchers found that pot smokers had lower levels of obesity than people who do not smoke pot, and another study that found that a brain chemical with a structure similar to one of the active compounds found in cannabis might actually help people lose weight. The findings are just the latest addition to a growing body of evidence that marijuana may be useful in countering issues related to obesity.
The researchers leading many of the studies on marijuana extracts and obesity are affiliated with the UK's GW Pharmaceuticals, which makes me cringe that pharmaceutical companies are going to make some kind of very expensive CBD-based weight loss drug. But regardless of motive, in these studies, the researchers found that the two compounds, THCV and cannabidiol, boosted metabolism, and reduced levels of liver fat, and blood cholesterol. These same compounds also made mice more sensitive to insulin, protected the cells that produce insulin, and increasing metabolic rate – all while suppressing the appetite. Nice.

The Effects Of CBD On Sleep
In the United States, approximately 70 million people suffer from insomnia, insufficient sleep or another sleep disorder. CBD extracts have been mistakenly described as sedating, but I haven't found that to be the case with my own use and neither has research. Although it's true that if you take a bunch of CBD (I've found 30mg+ of a good, absorbable CBD will do it for me) you will fall asleep like a baby, in modest doses, CBD is mildly alerting, and simply provides a calm, relaxed focus.
Cannabidiol actually activates the same adenosine receptors as caffeine, which is technically a stimulant. But patients with sleep issues report that ingesting a CBD-rich tincture or extract a few hours before bedtime has a balancing effect that facilitates a good night’s sleep, and I've certainly found this to be the case.
Here are the studies on CBD and sleep.
- The nonpsychoactive Cannabis constituent cannabidiol is a wake-inducing agent (PubMed)
- Cannabis, pain, and sleep: Lessons from therapeutic clinical trials of Sativex, a cannabis-based medicine (PubMed)
- Effects of acute systemic administration of cannabidiol on sleep-wake cycle in rats (PubMed)
- Effect of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol on nocturnal sleep and early-morning behavior in young adults (PubMed)
- Cannabidiol, a constituent of Cannabis sativa, modulates sleep in rats (PubMed)
- Endocannabinoid modulation of cortical up-states and NREM sleep (PubMed)
- Intranodose ganglion injections of dronabinol attenuate serotonin-induced apnea in Sprague-Dawley rat (PubMed)
In summary: smaller doses of CBD provide you with a calm and relaxed focus that comes in handy during everything from writing to music to parties to workouts – very similar to what you would experience with THC, but without the psychoactive or paranoia properties. And if you combine these smaller doses of CBD with common natural sleep-inducing compounds like melatonin, magnesium, or lemon balm, then you can get yourself into an even more relaxed state. But larger doses of CBD (which are going to range based on the actual absorption of whichever CBD blend you are using) can be used all by themselves to enhance sleep or combat insomnia.
Speaking of dosage, in most clinical trials, you'll see CBD dosing ranges from 10-800 mg of CBD per day (although to treat schizophrenia, I've seen doses as high as 1,300mg). But as with everything from whey protein to creatine to magnesium, everyone is different and you'll likely need to experiment with a dosage range that works for you. The CBD capsules I personally use contain 10mg in one capsule, but based on the absorption (an important variable which you're going to learn about next), I need to use far less CBD, about 1/10 the amount, compared to other CBD tinctures, extracts and capsules I've tried.
Why Most CBD Isn't Absorbed & What You Can Do About It
OK, so there must be a catch here, because at this point you're probably under the impression that I think CBD is some kind of cure-all magical tonic that ranks right up there with Belgian chocolate, Bordeaux wine and kale smoothies.
But problem is, CBD oil, capsules, powders, etc. are not easily absorbed by your body. They can spoil and become contaminated. They smell bad. They often taste bad too. And they’re not water soluble.
The water soluble-thing is a biggie.
Your body is composed of over 60% water, and this means that you're going to either A) need to take way, way more of a non water-soluble CBD product if you actually want to feel the effects or B) smoke or vape your CBD, which is logistically annoying and not something your kid or your pet can do (and yes, both kids and pets can enormously benefit from CBD usage).
This is why most CBD hemp oil products have an extremely poor bioavailability and most people simply don’t experience or feel any of the effects of the CBD they take.
So how can you make CBD absorbable?
Enter turmeric, the same flavorful spice that I mix with black pepper on my salads every single day of the year.
Turmeric comes from the rhizome in the turmeric plant, and the rhizome can grow up to 3 inches in length. The rhizome is then harvested and dried before being ground into a yellow powder, the very concentrated form of which is also known as curcumin (yes, the same curcumin that is currently the darling of the “natural anti-inflammatory” industry).
Kind of like cannabis, humans have been cultivating turmeric for a long time – over 4,000 years. The Ayurvedic medicinal herb was originally used as a medicinal herb in Southeast Asia, where turmeric also carries significant religious significance. Turmeric was a highly sought after commodity in the ancient spice trades that swept across China and Africa, all before the end of the 9th century.
India is the main cultivator of all the world’s turmeric crops and consumes 80% of the world’s supply. Due to the high content of the main bioactive component in turmeric (curcumin) Indian turmeric is considered to be the best in the world for medicinal purposes. The Indian city of Erode, located in the South Indian State of Tamil Nadu, is the trading hub for turmeric in the Eastern hemisphere. Erode is so well known for its turmeric production that it is referred to as “Yellow City,” and “Turmeric City” (similar to the way that my living room couch is covered in yellow stains from my frequent turmeric sprinkling on most of the dinners I eat).
And here's why turmeric plays such an important role in CBD absorption…
…when the cannabinoids and terpenoids in CBD are mixed with the isolated curcuminoids of a high-curcumin containing turmeric plant, the bioavailability of the CBD absolutely explodes. This means that if you've used CBD oil before in the absence of a curcuminoid blend from turmeric, you probably only felt about 1/5 to 1/10 of the actual effects of the CBD, since CBD by itself is very poorly absorbed.
For you aspiring fatty coffee drinkers out there, this is a similar concept to the idea that you simply never get to feel several of the bioactive, wakefulness and focus-enhancing terpenoids in coffee until you have actually introduced fats and triglycerides into the coffee to help these terpenes cross your blood-brain barrier – hence the butter and coconut oil blended with the coffee.
Using a process called “hybrid-nanoengineering” it is actually possible to get a highly bioavailable and absorbable form of CBD. The way that hybrid-nanoengineering works is that the cannabinoids and terpenoids are extracted from the hemp plant, combined with an Ayurvedic herbal blend and then processed into nanoparticle size. Nanoparticles (1/100 the width of a human hair) are easier for your body to absorb and transport to where they are needed within your body. This means that a hybrid-nanoengineered CBD is over 10x more bioavailable in the body than any other oil based CBD, CBD tincture or CBD capsule, and that just 10mg of a nanoparticle CBD is comparable to 100mg of standard CBD.
The result of hybrid-nanoengineering with the Ayurvedic herbal blend is an oil that is high in CBD, virtually free of THC (less than 0.1%,) and complete with a full spectrum of other cannabinoids and terpenes, which work synergistically to make CBD even more effective. The oil is then encapsulated, and…
…voila…
…you've got an extremely absorbable CBD product, along with all the benefits of curcumin, lemon balm and Ashwagandha. Here's a video that demonstrates the absorption difference between water soluble CBD that's been hybrid-nanoengineered, compared to regular, non-water-soluble CBD.

Summary
Whew. Congratulations, you made it.
You now know:
- CBD is the non-psychoactive component of cannabis, and can actually combat unpleasant effects of smoking weed, such as paranoia or over-excitability…
- CBD acts on completely different receptors and enzymes than THC, resulting in significant effects on anxiety, depression and stress…
- CBD is safe and non-addictive…
- Pharmaceutical companies can't patent CBD unless they turn it into a synthetic chemical first…
- There are shocking demonstrations of the potency of CBD for several serious neurological conditions such as epilepsy, MS and cerebral palsy…
- CBD can also be used to balance hormones, reduce anxiety, lower inflammation and chronic pain, combat metabolic syndrome, and reduce obesity…
- It is very difficult for your body to absorb CBD, unless the CBD has been blended with curcuminoids and made bioavailable in a nanoparticle size… …
After spending the past year researching everything you've just read about and experimenting extensively with CBD oil, I am now (full disclosure folks) an investor and adviser to the only company in the world that has patented the nanoengineering of blending curcuminoids with the cannabidiols and terpenoids in CBD.
I would never endorse anything that I don't use and benefit from myself, and I can honestly say that this is the most absorbable form of CBD I've ever used, it allows me to get all the benefits of smoking weed without actually smoking weed, and it is exact stuff that I personally purchase for myself and that now lives in a special place in my pantry.
In addition to my morning and evening multivitamin and fish oil, I've now added two of these CBD capsules to my early evening protocol, specifically to lower inflammation from exercise, to lower my stress and anxiety, to help me to have more creative focus for writing, and to cause me to fall asleep much, much faster at night.
Three other things…
The hemp used to make this CBD oil is extracted from a special variety of sustainably raised, organic hemp that is specifically bred to contain naturally high concentrations of CBD, while still containing all of the natural cannabinoids, terpenoids, and other compounds of the original plant. The resulting oil then is strictly tested for purity and is free from pesticides and heavy metals.
The starch “filler” is from non-GMO brown rice. The hypromellose vegan capsules contain no soy, no nuts, no sugar, no yeast, no gluten, no dairy, no chemicals, no artificial flavors, no artificial coloring, and are lab tested to be free from toxins and other solvents.
And just to enhance the peaceful, calm, focus that NatureCBD gives you, I've also added to this unique custom formulation two big de-stressing and focus enhancing agents…
1. Ashwagandha
This is an exotic Indian herb with remarkable stress-relieving properties comparable to those of powerful drugs used to treat depression and anxiety.
Scientific studies support ashwagandha’s ability not only to relieve stress, but also to protect brain cells against the deleterious effects of our modern lifestyles. For example, in validated models of anxiety and depression, ashwagandha has been demonstrated to be as effective as some tranquilizers and antidepressant drugs. Specifically, oral administration of ashwagandha for five days showed anxiety-relieving effects similar to those achieved by the anti-anxiety drug lorazepam (Ativan®), and antidepressant effects similar to those of the prescription antidepressant drug imipramine (Tofranil®).
Stress can cause increased peroxidation of lipids, while decreasing levels of the antioxidant enzymes catalase and glutathione peroxidase. When ashwagandha extract was administered by researchers one hour before a daily stress-inducing procedure, all of the parameters of free radical damage normalized in a dose-dependent manner.
Premature aging associated with chronic nervous tension is also related to increased oxidative stress. For example, in a remarkable animal study, examination of the brains of sacrificed animals showed that 85% of the brain cells observed in the animals exposed to chronic stress showed signs of degeneration. It is this type of cellular degeneration that can lead to long-term cognitive difficulties. Amazingly, when ashwagandha was administered to chronically stressed animals, the number of degenerating brain cells was reduced by 80%.
In one of the most complete human clinical trials to date, researchers studied the effects of a standardized extract of ashwagandha on the negative effects of stress, including elevated levels of the stress hormone cortisol. The results were impressive, with participants showing increased energy, reduced fatigue, better sleep, and an enhanced sense of well-being…
…along with a reduction of cortisol levels up to 26%!
Using a validated model of damaged nerve cells and impaired nerve-signaling pathways, researchers have that demonstrated that ashwagandha supports significant regeneration of the axons and dendrites of nerve cells along with the reconstruction of synapses, the junctions where nerve cells communicate with other cells. This means ashwagandha extract helps to reconstruct entire networks of your nervous system, and has huge implications for any athlete using CBD to manage head injuries or chronic pain.
Researchers have also found that ashwagandha helps support the growth of nerve cell dendrites, which allow these cells to receive communications from other cells, and that ashwagandha helps promote the growth of both normal and damaged nerve cells, suggesting that the herb may boost healthy brain cell function as well as benefit diseased nerve cells. So we're talking a “nootropic” smart drug type effect.
Most ashwaganda supplements have failed review by ConsumerLabs, so I opted for a water-soluble, bioavailable formulation of ashwaganda, using the same nanoengineering technique as the CBD…
2. Lemon Balm
Lemon balm, AKA “Melissa Officinalis” was dedicated to the goddess Diana, and used medicinally by the Greeks some 2,000 years ago. In the Middle Ages, lemon balm was used to soothe tension, to dress wounds, and as a cure for toothache, skin eruptions, mad dog bites, crooked necks, and sickness during pregnancy, and as a medicinal plant, lemon balm has traditionally been employed against bronchial inflammation, earache, fever, flatulence, headaches, high blood pressure, influenza, mood disorders, palpitations, toothache and vomiting.
Because it provides the body with a calming effect, lemon balm is also used for nervous agitation, sleeping problems, functional gastrointestinal complaints, menstrual cramps and urinary spasms. It is thought that the volatile oils in lemon balm contain chemicals that relax muscles, particularly in the bladder, stomach, and uterus, thereby relieving cramps, gas, and nausea. Because of its calming effect without the potential to create the side effects of a sedative, lemon balm is also widely used to treat stress, anxiety and insomnia. This ability, along with lemon balm's antiviral and anti-autoimmune characteristics have also made it useful for the treatment of thyroid issues chronic fatigue syndrome.
Recently, lemon balm produced an unexpected result: it greatly increased the ability to concentrate and perform word and picture tasks. In a study at Northumbria University in England, students were tested for weeks while using either lemon balm or a placebo. The students did significantly better on the tests after taking lemon balm and continued to post improved scores for up to six hours after taking the herb. The students taking lemon balm were noted to be calmer and less stressed during the tests.
Similar to the ashwaganda, the lemon balm in NatureCBD is also highly bioavailable. Nanoengineered? Yeah, you guessed it.
So, the total ingredients of NatureCBD are…
Hybrid-nanoengineered: CBD, Curcumin, Lemon Balm, Ashwagandha and Magnesium.
Pretty cool little formulation, huh?
To go along with all my other hippie sounding stuff at Greenfield Fitness Systems, like NatureFlex, NatureColostrum and NatureCleanse, the name of this nanoengineered, turmeric blended, ashwaganda, lemon balm blend is “NatureCBD“. Here's a comparison of NatureCBD to other CBD products:
NatureCBD also comes with a “feel the difference” money-back guarantee.
That means I'm so confident this is going to be a game-changer for you if you're stressed, anxious, have difficulty sleeping, need to lower inflammation, control appetite or get any of the other benefits of smoking weed without actually smoking weed, that NatureCBD has an unconditional 30-day money-back guarantee.
I get it.
Many people are (and should be!) skeptical when they hear what a new product might do for them, especially when it's a politically charged, controversial plant extract like CBD. So with this guarantee, you have the opportunity to experience the same peace, calm, focus, relaxation and sleep benefits I've already enjoyed, with no worries.
If you don't feel a difference after 30 days or you're not happy with your results, simply notify me up to two full months after your purchase and I’ll make arrangements for you to receive a 100% refund (less shipping). No questions asked. No annoying hoops to jump through.

Must say, one of the useful article out there. Taking 10-20 mg isn’t bad for health but do not make it as addiction.
CBD is a miraculous drug and I just hope everybody can have access to it. Family moving states just to be able to buy legally and give it to their sick children is so sad and frustrating.
DMT is also a fundamental “building block” of many other psychedelic substances, including psilocybin (4-PO-HO-DMT) and it is structurally analogous to both serotonin and melatonin. This similar structure is what it allows to bind with 5-HT (serotonin) receptors and cause physiological effects.
Many often confuse N,N- DMT with 5-MeO-DMT, or 5-Methoxy-N,N-Dimethyltryptamine. 5-MeO-DMT looks exactly like N,N-DMT on both a macro and micro level, but the former has a few extra atoms attached. Although these two substances are nearly chemically identical, the experience can be significantly different. At the moment, you can only buy N,N- DMT from Psychedelia.io, however we plan to offer 5MeO-DMT in the coming months.

Thanks for the article Ben! I just ordered CBD oil from a guest you had on the podcast and was wondering if I should dose with turmeric to increase bioavailability, or does the product have to be Hybird-Nanoengineered to make a difference? What dose of turmeric would you recommend to go along with the CBD if you would recommend that at all? Thanks so much!
CBD is commonly used to address anxiety, and for patients who suffer through the misery of insomnia, studies suggest that CBD may help with both falling asleep and staying asleep. Thanks for the wonderful information.
Super interesting.

It’s great to know more about CBD and its benefits. I like how you said that it can help with pain management. My wife is dealing with cancer, so I’ll have to look into this for her treatment.
Hi there, for all time i used to check website posts here in the early hours in the dawn, because i
love to learn more and more.
It’s great that you talk about how CBD oil can help relieve anxiety. I experience mild anxiety on a daily basis, so I’m thinking about buying a CBD tincture to try. I’m going to search for a good business that can sell me a CBD tincture.
Hi, all is going sound here and ofcourse every one is
sharing data, that’s truly good, keep up writing.
I’m impressed, I must say. Seldom do I encounter a blog that’s both equally educative and entertaining, and
without a doubt, you have hit the nail on the head. The
problem is something which too few folks are speaking intelligently about.
Now i’m very happy I found this during my hunt for something concerning this.
I feel this is one of the such a lot vital info for me. And i am satisfied
reading your article. But should remark on few general issues, The web site style is perfect, the articles is really great : D.
Excellent job, cheers
May I simply say what a comfort to find a person that actually knows what they
are discussing on the web. You definitely realize how to bring an issue to light and make it important.
A lot more people must look at this and understand this side of the
story. I was surprised that you are not more popular since you certainly have the gift.
Great information. Lucky me I discovered your website by chance (stumbleupon).

so then you will absolutely obtain nice know-how.
With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or copyright violation? My blog has a lot of unique content I’ve either created myself or
outsourced but it appears a lot of it is popping it up all over the
internet without my permission. Do you know any methods to help protect against content from being
ripped off? I’d truly appreciate it.
First off I would like to say excellent blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you do not mind.
I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your mind
before writing. I have had trouble clearing my mind in getting my ideas out there.
I truly do take pleasure in writing however it
just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are
lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or
tips? Cheers!
were you able to receive it in Canada? I wondered if legal to get Cannabis oil into Canada?
For hemp-based CBD products, most folks have no problems with them getting into Canada. Canada that has specifically stated that they consider CBD whether it comes from hemp or medical marijuana to be a Scheduled II Drug, Class Scheduled II Drug, which means that it has reported medicinal benefits but they would like to control the regulation and the selling of those products. But I don’t think they’re regulating it too strictly. Thank you for the great article.
When I click on the NatureCBD links it takes me to the BioCBD website? How do I purchase NatureCBD?
Ps. I live in Canada but willing to pay for shipping here.
Thx
NatureCBD is no longer available so BioCBD is one of a few brands I'm now using and recommending. Check out their site, it's good stuff. What affect does CBD have on sperm, fertility and testosterone?
Very extensive and interesting article, thanks! I read a lot about the useful properties of the product. About experiments that prove a decrease in anxiety disorder. It is very important to cure anxiety in the early stages, because later it can lead to big health problems, depression.
Most doctors don’t specialize medicinal cannabis and CBD oil. This means they may not be able to help you as thoroughly as you had hoped and they may be unable to offer guidance when it comes to helping you decide how much CBD oil to take. It is also worth noting that many patients feel uncomfortable talking to their doctor about cannabis and CBD.
I work for a company in South Africa that produces the finest organic Feco oil. Since I’ve started using this oil to treat my bipolar disorder I have gone off three different kinds of meds and have honestly never felt better. Also i used to take a lot of painkillers and now I’m pain meds free! I could send you a sample if u will pay for shipping? And I’d have to find out if it is possible. Drop me a mail at Simone.tiede@ Yandex.com
Your male cannabis plants contain the same cannabinoids as female plants, although in lower quantities. This makes male cannabis optimal for preparing CBD remedy. You can use them in pretty much the same way as you would females, except that you don’t juice the thicker stalks and bigger leaves so you can avoid a bitter “plant taste.”
Cannabis juice acts as a great vessel for delivering the benefits of cannabinoids like CBD without the high or other unwanted side-effects. If you want to have it really simple, you can also make tea from the leaves of your male plant.
thx for sharing
It is interesting that you recommend smoking or vaping CBD to ensure that you get the maximum absorption. My wife has considered using CBD hemp oil to help with pain management since she was in a car accident a couple of weeks ago. We’ve also considered finding CBD that is medical grade to ensure we are getting our money’s worth.

Hello Ben!
After reading about CBD for sleep, I am still a bit unclear on a couple of things:
– When vaping a CBD oil, is the CBD more bioavailable than when ingesting a dropper-style CBD supplement?
OR do I still need to consume some turmeric to make the CBD more bioavailable. If so, does the timing matter? how do you recommend I go about vaping CBD and eating turmeric?
Thanks!
I’m already taking magnesium threonate and aspartate. Any idea what form of magnesium this product uses, and a ballpark of the dose? I’m not too worried about going overboard with mag, but hate flying blind with a proprietary blend.
Hi Ben – In your latest CBD podcast you recommend taking less mg of water soluble CBD with turmeric for cost/absorption/faster effect (for sleep/anxiety) than high doses of normal tinctures. But I am also interested in CBD for chronic inflammation due to lyme. Therefore I’m curious: Is the lower dose (day 20mg) of water soluble CBD equally as therapeutic / effective for inflammation as taking higher dose (100mg) full spectrum tincture?
Thank you for doing all the research for us! Enjoy all your content immensely :)
It's somewhat dependent on biochemical individuality, but the turmeric can be a big help… I'd recommend simply experimenting with different doses to find what's right for you.
The panacea benefit that marijuana brings to the medical sector is incomparable. This is the reason why the cannabis is slowly being legalized across the world. Marijuana Spot is thriving hard to change the current outlook and give marijuana the awareness it deserves for the betterment of the health standards and the whole society at large.
So far, does CBD reduce the need for Zoloft/Wellbutrin. My 18 yr old is on that combo at medium high dose and I’d like to wean him off. They have been more of a help than not but it is an uncomfortable alliance.
Any protocols/ podcasts for weaning off SSRIs with CBD? Should NAD+ be part of the protocol?Does CBD interfere, and does it behave consitetnly as per dosing, in order to use it along with drugs as we taper?
Son has both anxiety and depression–more anxiety
Thank you so much
I recommend working with a licensed medical professional to help taper off of SSRIs… This could be a very helpful resource: http://bit.ly/2I9acoh
Do you have any recommendations on all natural CBD vape pens? Found a few online claiming to be, but thought i might ask. Or do you only recommend oil? I do amateur MMA & work 70hr weeks in finance. Don’t give my body much of a break.
I like BioCBD+: https://goo.gl/brzt6n (BEN10 to save 10%)
Hi Ben,
Quick question about CBD oil. I am in my late 30s and have been racing endurance MTB for 20ish years. The past 5 years I have developed TERRIBLE hamstring cramping after an hour, where I dont even want to ride my bike anymore. I know its not a cure all, but im curious if dosing with CBD before a 6 hour race will help inflammation and possibly help reduce cramping. I hate it and its sad to not be able to ride too much just being afraid to cramp. I mean cramp as in last time it happened I spent the night in the ER waiting for the muscles to relax after 3 hours of solid cramping..wanting to pass out cramping. No fun. Thanks for any insight
Could be helpful… You could be mineral depleted as well, so you could also try adding a high quality Celtic or Colima sea salt to your water
carbon nanoparticles from tattoos). But in the case of all natural polyphenols or other biodegradable nanomolecules such as those found in NatureCBD, there is no chance of binding to any place in the body for a harmful period of time. This is because these natural molecules get metabolized into other forms in your body and are then easily secreted after getting their delivery job done.
Thanks for this huge and informative article, it took me a while to read. Great infographics and I have to agree that CBD helps muscle recovery, I do mixed martial arts and noticed great recovery. Keep it up.
Hello every one ! I can’t believe this. A great testimony that i must share to all cancer patient in the world i never believed that their could be any complete cure for my wife’s kidney cancer,i saw people’s testimony on blog sites of how Dr. Brown Nelson cannabis oil brought my wife life back . Glory be to God for leading me to this genuine Dr. Brown Nelson. I am so happy as i am sharing this testimony. My advice to you all who thinks that their is no cure for cancer that is Not true ,just contact him and get cannabis oil from Dr. Brown Nelson and you will be free of cancer and free for ever, Try it and you will not regret it because it truly works. One thing i have come to realize is that you never know how true it is until you try. There is no harm in trying. Remember, delay in treatment leads to death. Here is his email: [email protected]
Interesting article on CBD. However, I must strenuously object to your assertion that cannabis, and let me be clear, specifically THC is not addictive. I suffer from severe addition to THC and I know many, many others that I’ve met through my treatment programs that are powerless to control their use of THC like I am. Please learn more about this your repeated claims to the contrary undermine the entire credibility of this page.
Thanks,
-M
He didn’t say thc was not addictive. He is speaking of cbd.
Hi Ben! Thanks for gathering all this information for us.
My question is about hormonal birth control and CBD; specifically in relation to the liver. I am currently on Nexplanon which is an implant inserted under the skin that slowly releases etonogestrel into the body which eventually stops a woman from ovulating which prevents pregnancy. I have recently started taking CBD and it has definitely helped reduce my stress/depression and aided my sleep, so I’d like to start taking it everyday. However I seem to get a headache each time after use…and I only take 5mg (capsule is 50% CBD and 50%CBDa).
My question is this: Can CBD interfere with the processing of etonogestrel in my liver? Could the increased amount of metabolized hormones be increasing the side effects if my birth control?
Hi Mr. Greenfield (he he!)
Could you please explain the difference between full spectrum, broad-spectrum and CBD isolate. And the order of their significance as far as CBD goes. My apologies if you already addressed this issue and if you could direct me to that explanation. Much appreciated,
topher G.
I'd recommend a full spectrum as you're getting all of the beneficial compounds from the plant, and they can work synergistically to enhance benefits. Isolate is only CBD, all the other compounds have been stripped away or filtered. Broad Spectrum still contains many of the beneficial effects of Full Spectrum but it still has some compounds (namely THC) stripped from it. You can find a lot of great info at ProjectCBD.org as well.
If someone has low cortisol due to adrenal fatigue, will CBD lower it even more? Is CBD something that those with low cortisol/adrenal fatigue shouldn’t take?
Thanks for this info!
Hello, I just ordered the biocbd for my anxiety and for my husbands pain. I may be pregnant (we’re TTC), is this ok to take while pregnant?
I would recommend speaking with your doctor about this. ProjectCBD.org is also a great resource.
Is CBD oil harmful to your kidneys or liver?
Hi guys I dont know whether this is the ideal place to ask yet I essentially expected to ask regarding whether it is possible to smoke marijuana strain like this in https://www.gyo.green/dna-genetics-lemon-skunk-dna-lsk-f.html through a vaporizer? I never tried using a vaporizer yet im needing to get one. Do you guys have any beginners advice to tell me? Much thanks!!
My name is Dean Roland From Hoston ,Texas and have bought Cannabis oil Fom this Godsent man name Rick simpson. It is my first time to try it. I am awaiting shipment from Italy Rome of CBD oil products. I am using the oil to ally my rather constant low level anxiety that sometimes goes near panic as well as chronic sleeplessness. I have been dealing with this challenge for many years without resorting to standard “Harmapheuticals”. It is my hope the oils will calm me and bring me sleep. I have been trying these local oils for past four days without too much in the way of calming effects. I am taking around 30ml of the oil without real positive results. Do you suppose I may have to go to dosage over 100ml a day to get results? And if you are willing to get your cure kindly contact the specialist store:whatsapp +2348114802736.
Hey Ben,
I’m in pain frequently but not always. The pain doesn’t always respond to Advil although it does sometimes.
Is the CBD (in capsule form) you recommend effective taken as an occasional analgesic or is it best taken daily?
Thanks,
Mike
I want to buy this for my husband who has insomnia. But his job regularly dies drug testing. Will this show up on a drug test?
Extremely unlikely
Ben, your post says you’ve taken at most 100mg and then later you say you’ve taken 30g+ of CBD. I think this is a typo and is supposed to be 30mg. Feel free to nuke my comment after correcting.
Ref:
“I’ve found that as little as 10mg CBD vastly lowers my anxiety at the end of the day, and have dosed with as high as 100mg CBD to be as calm as a baby…”
“I’ve found 30g+ of a good, absorbable CBD will do it for me) you will fall asleep like a baby,”
Whoops! You are correct, 30mg. It's been updated, thanks!
Hi Ben.
Can you please give me info on using cannabis oil for erectile dysfunction. Using drops
Thanks
This seemed to help me. It was an unexpected pleasant surprise, since I tried cbd for pain relief and calming effect. I was a heavy marijuana user for years. I recently quit and I had some unanticipated problems with erectile dysfunction. I think somehow with all the marijuana I smoked I had some kind of hormone imbalance possibly, I know something wasn’t working right. Anyway since I’ve started taking cbd oil haven’t had any more erectile problems. More sensitivity too. Not sure how it would work on a non marijuana smoker, (I think my problems were from the chronic use of marijuana) but it’s definitely worth a try. It works for so many other things and it worked for me!
Is it possible for someone who is currently underweight to GAIN healthy weight and muscle mass while using hemp CBD oil for anxiety and sleep issues? You make it sound like it takes away appetite which wouldn’t be beneficial at all to someone who has the desire to gain weight.
I think it's definitely possible, you may be less hungry, but you'll still be capable of eating the same amount.
Warning to all Canadian
Sorry Ben, but I ordered 2 bottles last spring but they were seized by Canadian customs. Lost my money plus when I tried to reach out to your customer service, no one was interested to reply.
Hi Ben!
Is there a study proving that the NatureCBD is more bioavailable than oil based CBD? How are these claims made?
Thank you
Hi Ben. What are your thoughts on the differences, if any, between CBD extracted from hemp (legal to buy for anyone in the US) and CBD extracted from medical cannabis? My instinct is that once extracted, they should be identical because we’re talking about a specific molecule (similar to how ascorbic acid extracted from an orange or bell pepper or made in a lab are identical). However, I had some CBD oil from a major retail website that did not do much for my insomnia, even at high doses. Then I tried some CBD oil from my medical marijuana doc that he claimed was pure CBD (meaning no THC, but I am not sure if there are other terpenes) and of higher quality because it was extracted from medical grade cannabis. I was totally skeptical, but ending up feeling it big time – very calming, almost like being high, but without the random racing thoughts that THC gives me. I am wondering if it’s worth it to shell out for my doc’s product (it is super expensive), or if I should just try another version of hemp-based CBD, such as the one you recommend.
Wondering how much to try using for pain relief related to autoimmune. Body parts swollen and pain without injury. Working on root cause(s) but in the meantime…
Tried NSAIDS even as it’s pretty high at times. Doesn’t touch it.
You take 20mg just for exercise aches. So Im assuming a whole lot is needed for severe stabbing and pulsing pain? Maybe 5 caps?
Thanks
Dosages can vary significantly, I would check out projectcbd.org which has more information on this.
My question has to do with production – I know it’s organic, but what is the extraction process, CO2?
Supercritical CO2 extraction. Subcritical/Supercritical CO2 oil extraction has several advantages over other extraction mediums, such as alcohol and hydrocarbons: CO2 is nontoxic and is Generally Regarded As Safe (GRAS) by the FDA for use in food products. Our bodies produce it when we breathe, and it is commonly used in carbonated beverages. With CO2 as a solvent for oil extraction, no toxins, heavy metals or hydrocarbon materials come in contact with the extracted oils. CO2 is “solvent free”. Other extraction solvents, such as hydrocarbon based propellants like propane and butane, hexane and pentane, or ethanol/alcohol mixtures require additional distillation or purging beyond the extraction process to separate the solvent from the extracted oil. CO2 has a very low boiling temperature and wants to be a gas a room temperature, thus it naturally separates from the extracted oil the same way a soda goes “flat”. The spent plant material is also free of residual solvents so it can be re-used as well. CO2 is non-flammable. Flammable solvents must be processed in a NEMA Class 1, Division 1, 2 or 3 (explosion proof) environment. CO2 is not flammable and does not require costly explosion proof facilities. CO2 is “cold” – Botanical oil extractions can be done at temperatures that are native to the botanical material, minimizing thermal degradation of the plant material and the extracted oil. CO2 is “tunable” – the solvency power of CO2 can be adjusted simply by increasing or decreasing pressures and/or temperatures. The ability of the CO2 to selectively extract affords the ability to create unique extractions that have varying levels of desirable oils and waxes (see below). Less desirable plant constituents, like chlorophyl, can also be “de-selected”. CO2 is inexpensive. CO2 is readily available and widely used throughout several industries. In addition, Apeks’ production CO2 oil extraction systems recirculate and subsequently recover 95% of the CO2 used in each extraction. CO2 is environmentally friendly. Industrial CO2 for extractions comes from byproducts – primarily hydrogen and ammonia manufacturing and fermentation for ethanol. CO2 used for extractions does not contribute to the overall atmospheric CO2 levels.
Hey Ben, I don’t think it was this podcast but there was one that you mentioned some sort of tea that you drank before bed and included CBD oil. lions mane etc etc. I missed the etc etc part and was wondering if you could share that recipe???? Thank you
I believe it's in this article: https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/article/the-last…
Hey Ben, the links in this article now point to BioCBD+, which has a different formula (no ashwaganda or lemon balm). What are your thoughts on this new product? Any new recommendations?
It's a great product I've personally used and continue to use. This is also a good one: https://elementhealthsupply.com/discount/BEN15
HI Ben, When will this be back in stock: https://www.biocbdplus.com/product/biocbd-total-b…
Thanks
It appears to be in stock right now.
Thanks! Are these still the ones you use and recommend?
Yes.
Hello, Ben~
Is your product, NatureCBD out of stock? Do you plan to produce more product? If so, when?
I LOVE listening to your podcasts and because I’ve heard you so often, I can imagine your voice inflections through your writing as well. It’s almost entertaining! ;-) Thank you for sharing your vast education with the world!
And thanks for your feedback about NatureCBD.
Recommending BioCBD+ ! https://www.biocbdplus.com/our-products/ref/5/
Hi Dina, I would check out https://www.projectcbd.org, they're a great resource for everything CBD. Also, consider posting this to the Kion community. It's a completely free online community of like-minded people who both have advice and are seeking advice! Facebook.com/groups/getkion/
My mother’s Stage IV breast cancer and MS has just been cured with the Rick Simpson Oil gotten from My PLug cannabis oil is great medication. To hell with the government and their insane policy, we have a medication that is hundred percent assured to cure cancer and you don’t need to spend so much money on chemo anymore , radiation or surgeries that wouldn’t work.Hemp oil also cure diabetes.
Yes amazing thank you! Took a shot of turmeric along with my CBD smoothie and feel the benefits at least 2-3x if not more. No hyperbole.
Can you please share CBD smoothie recipe? Newbie here to the site, will look for it in the meantime. Thanks for this tip.
CBD smoothie? Would you please add the recipe
If needing to try cbd oil for sleep issues, will there be a time when the physiology is balanced and the product can be discontinued, or will it be necessary to use for life? Have you seen people be able to use for a period of time and then not have to take it continually?
I think that depends on the person, but I would say yes you should be able to stop taking it once your sleep schedule is back in sync.
Ben, any input on CBD use for type 1/type 2 diabetics? I’m curious to know if it’s safe in terms of blood sugar levels, etc.
I go over CBD and diabetes in this article: https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/article/suppleme…
Bad thing is that people remain massively uninformed about cannabis and cannabis derivatives. The average person doesn’t know what CBD is, they just equate cannabis with getting high and lazy stoner stereotypes. The gossip he speaks of then turns into gossiping about him and how he’s stoned all day, that’s why he’s so happy. I have had 100% positive effects from cbd oil. My anxiety feels like it’s under control in a healthy way for the first time in 20 years. I take 12mg 3 times daily. The only negative things about it worth mentioning are that it’s kind of pricey, and that people have noticed that I’m acting differently and are gossiping about what could have improved my mood so much https://cbdreamers.com/cbd-oil-for-anxiety-and-de…
Totally agree with you. I live in Colorado and even now there is a split between people who like and don’t like it. You’d think that everyone here would be educated enough but they aren’t.
I am thinking of trying CBD oil for my anxiety and insomnia. This has been ongoing since returning from Iraq a few years ago. I am now a Nursing student and feeling the lack of sleep now more than ever. I am currently taking Qualia and Organigi daily and off all prescription medications. I am already giving CBD to my old dog and it is helping her arthritis, just wanna cash in on this without it affecting my school negatively. What would be a good dosage for a 120 lb female to start at? I am very sensitive to medications and drugs, I even cut the Qualia dosage in half.
It's hard to say because CBD affects everyone so differently. I would start small, see if it helps and gradually increase if it doesn't. Check out projectcbd.org for more info.
Unlike Smoking Marijuana you will not hurt your lungs when you are using CBD oil in the form of vapors, so its the best alternative for smoking joints.
Hi Guys does anybody of you each had a go at utilizing any portable application when purchasing weed on the web? I discover this application from greenmed here in https://www.greenmed.io/blog/how-to-open-a-dispen… and I was planning to get a few inputs previously attempting it. Much appreciated ahead of time
Hey Ben,
What is the best time to take NatureCBD to promote better sleep?
Kind regards,
Craig
An hour or so before bed is what I do.
Thanks!
I would love to know this as I use CBD I Use A medi pen and vape but I find it has oppiset effect I’m wide awake so I to would love to know . Pauline
How to sensibly buy LEGAL cbd oil? Because I got a letter saying customs has confiscated my package two times already and I’m pissed.
What amounts does NatureCBD come in and what are the prices, please? I click on your links and it can’t be found. I put it in Search and there’s no product there to look at or buy. Are full lab results available to view? Also, I realize you have created this product to combine all these things so you probably don’t want to give your “secrets” away on how you did it but I was wondering if you ingested all these seperatly, in capsule form, but at the same time that you take CBD, would it work the same? I’m guessing you’ll say no but wanted at ask anyway. Thanks for the very informative read!!!
I have tried NatureCBD and believe in the product. I particularly noticed alleviation in joint pain and reduction in stress – although stress reduction may have been supported by pain reduction. However, since I live in Canada and it is expensive to ship, I have been using CBD from a licensed medical marijuana facility. The effect is not as powerful as from NatureCBD. I had not really considered the bioavailability issue; perhaps that is the reason for the weaker effect. Or possibly it could be the other herbs added, or the synergistic effect. In any case, I am going to bite the bullet (at least my visa card will) and go back to NatureCBD.
Thanks Ben.
Can CBD oil be used topically by rubbing it in
Yes, check out BioCBD+ Topical Oil: BenGreenfieldFitness.com/cbd
thanks for spreading awareness on CBD, its very good!
but there seems to be an error in your information, it actually does NOT lower cortisol according to the very study you are citing.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8257923
“…decrease [from placebo] in cortisol levels was significantly attenuated[!] after CBD..” – and also the numbers they give show that cbd does not lower cortisol.
i have seen the seemingly wrong information of cbd lowering cortisol many times now but i have yet to see a study which actually shows its power to lower cortisol.
Hi Chris,
I just read your comment on Mary Vance’s website and had to reread the study. It turns out that you are correct. The wording is misleading and I am so disappointed because I wanted to believe. I just purchased some CBD oil for my high cortisol levels. I can’t believe that people are quoting this study when it states the exact opposite. Thank you for pointing that out.
Hey Ben,
I recently ordered Natureblend and I can’t wait to try it out. I’ve suffered from anxiety and insomnia for quite some time now and was hoping the CBD could help. What dosage do you recommend for insomnia?
It can vary depending on a number of factors. Recommendations are in the article above!
If you’re anything like me and often have trouble falling asleep at night, you will definitely like CBD products. Being a CBD user for long time I have been taking CBD oil for Insomnia a long time I’ll say it has helped my sleep better. From what I know Cannabidiol a.k.a CBD is great relaxant that have helped many people, including me, sleep better. With dosage I always recommend to my friends to start with low, then see if it suits them and then work their way up.
I recommend you consume a low dosage at morning because from what I have experienced the low dosage has made me more active and fresh, where as the high dosage made me sleepy.
So I suggest you take a tad bit low in morning and little bit high at night. I think this will help you regulate your sleep cycle.
Hello Ben! I live in Sweden and does not have access to NatureCBD. But I can get my hands on some regular high quality CBD-oil diluted in coconutoil. Of course you can’t divulge the exact properties of the curcumin/Leonbalm/ashwagandha blend but do you have any tips on how I can optimize the bioavailability ?
Check out this article! https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/article/suppleme…
Great article. That’s a ton of good info. I especially liked the infographic. I found your site while looking for more info for how CBD effects Inflammation in particular. I haven’t read all the 220+ comments (wow) so perhaps someone has mentioned something like this earlier, but I found some great resources worth checking out here. www.cbdantiinflammatory.com
I personally believe that CBD can be a great plant ally for people struggling with a wide variety of different ailments. I want to see more people using it and growing it all over the world.
Cheers!
Hi Ben. I am pretty sensitive to all meds, meaning if the directions say take two pills I usually start with 1 as many times the effects are way more powerful to me. With that said, how do you know how much to dose per person? Isn’t everyone’s body chemistry different? Also know you are not a doctor, but what have you heard about taking cbd along with blood pressure meds?
Correct, I am not a doctor, and this is not to be interpreted as medical advice. I would recommend you talk to a licensed medical professional about all of this. I'm not sure what the product is so I can't recommend guidelines for taking it. If you're referring to my product, NatureCBD, as a general guideline, start with 2-3 capsules a day and not exceeding 5 tablets in 24 hours. I have personally seen no contraindications for CBD and blood pressure meds.
That is one deep information, I must say. I really like the way you describe the details about CBD and its benefits. I’ve got an experience about CBD oil. I used to have depression and started taking CBD oil as my friend recommend it. It really worked. I feel relaxed and calmer as I take the CBD oil. My depression was all gone after few weeks I started taking the oil.
this product is not allowed into Australia, just had 6 bottles seized by customs..
apparently hemp oil is banned over here, along with pretty much everything else…
Hi Ben, Do you know when the product will be available? I’m debated weather to wait for yours or the try another product.
Thanks, Dale
Most likely by end of next week. Thanks for your patience.
Hi Ben,
My 45 year old son has Type 1 Diabetes and uses insulin. He recently found out that he has a problem with his kidneys. He has had headaches and his sugar and some other blood results are out of therapeutic range. After reading your thorough article, my wife and I want our son to try CBD without THC. We will also try it for other reasons. Where can we get CBD capsules in the 93063 area and how much does it cost? (We are on Social Security). Respectfully, Fred Trombley
Hi Fred, thanks for your questions. I am not a doctor and this is not to be taken, interpreted or construed as medical advice. Please talk with a licensed medical professional about this. These are just my own personal thoughts and not a prescription or a diagnosis or any form of health care whatsoever. Here's a link to the kind we sell- you can order it online: BenGreenfieldFitness.com/cbd
I’m considering this for my dog, a 50 pound border collie. She has muscle weakness in her back legs likely due to an injury several years ago and now those legs are also spasming at times when she walks. The vet put her on rimadyl (an anti-inflammatory nsaid specifically for dogs) and symptoms improved for several months but are now regressing. We’re guessing inflammation is at the root of it. She’s 13 and we’re willing to take on the risks of CBD although they seem to be low to none but wondering if there would be different considerations for her weight and species. Maybe a half capsule at morning and again at night? Or should we start with a whole one? Thank you!

Hi Sarah, I would like to chime in here if I could. I’m not trying to step on Ben’s toes, but we have a K-9 CBD oil that would work great for your Border Collie (my dad has a Border Collie too, great dogs). If you read this, you can visit our website at savinggracecbd.com. Please use coupon code JS410, to receive 10% off. You can feel free to contact me as well, [email protected].
hi I am looking at this oil as it has been recommended fir my dog with cancer. however you state that the oil if from Hemp but I have read that its the thc content that helps with the cancer .
I am using the product for my dog. THC can help, but the ratios need to be right for our canine friends. My advice is find a holistic vet who knows how to key in the right ratio of THC to CBD for your pet.
Oh look. Yet another Ben Greenfield cash grab. TL;DR.
What do you mean dude? I LOVE constructive criticism so I can work to get better and serve you better, so fill me in!
Hi Ben, your product sounds amazing! I am 60 years old, have had Neurosarcoidosis for the past 35 years, am a 5 yr colon cancer survivor, and have been recently diagnosed with Pseudotumor Cerebrii (IIH). Between the Neurosarc and the PTC my optic nerves have been greatly affected. My question is about possible drug interactions with your product. Are there any? Specifically, any adverse interactions when the your product is taken in conjunction with Effexor XR, or Toprol XL. Or if one is allergic to Sulfa drugs. Hoping I can take your product and that it will have a positive effect in reducing my “Brain Pain”, optic nerve swelling, and various other neuro symptoms and pain. Thanks.
I was just told CW was bought by big-pharma :(
I found cw to be useless and then was told it had too many fillers, not to mention it is extremely expensive. Not sure if true but did nothing to help me
Please answer Susanne Gerres’ question. I want to kinow also
CW website states that their oil is legal in all of the states and I have ordered it online (delivered via mail to IL from another state).
My name is Kathleen, I’m 66 years old, and I would like to share my amazing story with you how Dr. Christopher help me on how to go about with cannabis oil. On January 18, 2000, after a severe headache prompted a CAT scan, a 3cm tumor was discovered in the left frontal lobe of my brain. I was 38 years old. My two daughters were ages 15 and 12. Immediate brain surgery was recommended by my surgeon. However, after further discussion, due to slow growth and no adjacent edema, he felt it would not be negligent to postpone surgery and monitor the tumor every 3 months with an MRI. The tumor remained stable for a little over three years then suddenly grew 25%.
On September 4, 2003, on my husband’s birthday, I had surgery at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles. I spent the next day, our 19th wedding anniversary in ICU. The pathology report came back an Oligodendroglioma grade 2. The surgery was an apparent success and neither radiation nor chemotherapy were recommended. However, since it’s unlikely every cancer cell can be detected and removed, and the nature of gliomas are to grow back over time, it was necessary to continue MRI monitoring every 3 months. Living from MRI to MRI had become our “normal”.
All MRI reports remained stable until November 2013 when my quarterly MRI came back showing regrowth of the tumor. My brain surgeon in Los Angeles recommended 4-6 months of chemotherapy, and if that didn’t work, another brain surgery to go in and clean up the regrowth would be considered. He also gave me anti-seizure medication for auras that had started to manifest as strong unexplainable odors. My doctor described this experience as an olfactory seizure. While researching Christopher’s Web cannabis oil as an alternative to the prescribed seizure medicine I also found out that cannabis oil was also showing promise as a cancer treatment and could be an alternative to chemotherapy.
When Jillian came home for Christmas she and my husband, decided it was time for me to make a decision to do something. I wasn’t ready to decide anything just yet. I wanted to have Christmas with my family. The day after Christmas I made up my mind to drive out to California to investigate cannabis oil as a treatment. We read articles about successful brain tumor results in Spain and Amsterdam and gathered information wherever we could. We decided to give the cannabis oil a try, especially after we read a paper on a study about the chemotherapy my doctor had recommended. That study suggested patients with tumors like mine appeared to get better at first with the chemo but then the left over tumor cells would mutate and turn aggressive over time.
After many conversations with my husband we decided to contact Dr. Christopher and we order 90-day cannabis treatment and the card was for cancer treatment amazingly, the cannabis oil has helped me with my fibromyalgia pain, joint pain, and chronic headaches. I had this pain for many years and it was getting worse. I literally have no pain now. My blood pressure had been creeping up over the years and was consistently pre-hypertensive, now it’s consistently on the low side of normal. I have not taken any other medication except the cannabis oil, supplements, and good clean healthy food over the years.
In August, eight months after beginning the cannabis treatment, my MRI was reviewed by a leading Radiologist, my Neuro Oncologist, and my world renowned Brain Surgeon, and it was concluded that all that was remaining of the tumor regrowth was scar tissue. I will have another MRI in December. Because these tumors are chronic and tend to growback, I will always be living MRI to MRI, but the key word here is that I am living …and in great health with a great immune system.
By eating healthy food and walking every day we both lost a needed 35 lbs. I never experienced the dreaded “munchies” that some get on this medicine.Smoking marijuana is reported to have an appetite stimulating effect. When I built up a tolerance to the THC, even though I was ingesting large amounts, I did not get an intense “high” like whatwould happen if a person were smoking it. For me, it produced a deep sense of well being.
Since concentrated cannabis oil with a high THC content is necessary to kill tumor cells it concerns me that the main talk in several states is to legalize CBD oil only. That is great news for seizures patients but denies treatment options for cancer patients, plus THC has so many other health benefits that shouldn’t be ignored.
The evidence is rapidly stacking up on the healing properties of the Marijuana plant. I’m excited for the future of Medical Marijuana and I feel a strong responsibility to spread this information. I hear so many misconceptions about this amazing medicinal plant that I feel i need to tell my story to anyone who is interested and my prayer is that it will be received with an open mind and a compassionate heart.
Contact Dr. Christopher on email for help on how to use the cannabis oil on [email protected] for more information
Many Blessings to All

My mother was thinking about trying CBD because she heard it would help with her diabetes and I was wondering how good is CBD at controlling sugar levels as my mother has tried multiple insulin drugs and they might work for a while but then stop working from what I understand. She got her diabetes from the Growth Hormone Drug back in 2009 and she also got some type of rare mouth Tumor which the doctor did the surgery to remove it wrong and caused it to spread. Will this work at controlling her sugar levels as she gets both high and lows, for example, she once had her sugar levels so high that it was unreadable and the doctors were amazed that she was still alive plus she also gets lows sometimes. Also, because of diabetes, she has neuropathy where she is losing feeling in her toes and does not feel the heat from hot products when she picks them up, will this product also help with the neuropathy and any remaining tumor?
My daughter is 31. She has been having terrible problems with alcohol for about 6 or 7 years. As time goes on she just gets worse and worse. Of course her drinking means that she ends up in the company of some pretty awful people. Drinkers of course. These men that she finds only seem to make her life so much worse. She then drinks more to get away from her terrible life and so it goes on. We have tried for years to give her as much support as we can. Financially she has depended on us for years now.
Trying to believe that if we let her hit ‘rock bottom’ she would finally quit drinking. All that happened was that she became really ill and had to be taken to hospital. She isn’t the type of alcoholic who can carry on some kind of life. When she drinks, that is all she does. She stays in her flat and drinks and smokes all night and all day until she physicality cannot cope. Then she has a few days off it, then it all starts again.
She has a good education, is good looking, and when she isn’t drunk she is good company. It is tearing our family apart to see her throw her life away like this. As her mother I seem to be living her life too. If she has a good day – then I have a good day,
I think she will end up,, by accident, killing herself. It is so, so sad. She had tried AA. That took us years of pleading with her to attend some meetings. They seemed to help a little bit but she has stopped going. I think she realises that there are people there just like her who have managed to quit and somehow she doesn’t seem to want to be part of that. She just keeps making up excuses or lies about why she won’t go back.
She has managed to get through interviews and even managed to go to work. That lasts sometimes only for a few days. Then she starts drinking and lets everyone down again.
i have seen post and i have seen people going through a lot of things cause of a stigma that one doesn’t pray for but all thanks to little help i got from Dr Moises Nieto Farino who saw me through pains and make me understand that nothing is to impossible for God to do. now she is well and started her life over again at a point of breaking down. i still cant say much but God know that i am so happy I know I can’t make her stop, I have tried. I realize from reading other peoples posts that I really need to get myself some help, I have paid $10,000. of thousands to get her help and to pay for her life and yet, here I am, depressed and so stressed about something that I am failing to fix. As a mother that is so painful. Alcohol addiction is a terrible thing. It robs people of their lives really. It often feels to me that I am watching her, very slowly, killing herself. Taking me with her too. After I finish writing this I am going to book my self an appointment with a good therapist and try to find perhaps an AA meeting. I have to do something . ThanK YOU Dr Moises Nieto Farino. FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP AND ASISTANNCE TO HELP HER REGAIN ALL SHE LEFT BEHIND. YOU COULD CONTACT Dr Moises Nieto Farino FOR SOME PERSONAL COUNSELING OR FAMILY COUSELING.(CONTACT INFO…[email protected]
A friend gave me a very small sample of your Total Plant Complex, to use on what I believe may be a touch of candida left over from candidiasis that i got rid of back around 1980. And it seemed to help, but I didn’t have enough to completely get rid of it. Now I would like to order some of my own, but don’t see anywhere to order it. Also, would like to be sure this is the best form of this stuff.
i read that hemp derived CBD isnt nearly as “active” or effective as the full spectrum plant based CBD. is this why you’ve introduced the other herbs – to increase the effectiveness of the hemp derived CBD? i also know turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties. so is this the real reason for including this treatment category or does the hemp based CBD have some anti-inflammatory properties also?
ive also seen CBD oils for use in cooking. do you know if heat affects efficacy or potency?
i have many ailments that has resulted in disability and i am only 46 thus have little quality of life and i loath taking pills!! i take as few prescriptions as possible so relief is low and so low activity is how i manage – though i know isn’t healthy either – but i believe the more prescriptions you take the more sickness will be created. short of stem cell treatment (which hasn’t been developed as far as i know for my issues) CBD is giving me hope.
i live in a state that just passed full MM BUT is still arguing basic legislation & the limited MM available doesn’t include my issues – though closely related to those listed. with that said can a full spectrum plant CBD that can be incorporated in cooking be delivered to me legally?
Hi Cynthia, we use a Full Plant, Full Spectrum plant based CBD. We absolutely do NOT use an isolate or a synthetic. We add the herbs to create an enhanced experienced beyond that of just CBD. We believe that CBD is part of the solution, and when mixed with other herbs, we can create an experience that goes beyond CBD alone. Nature CBD is a proprietary blend made with unique herbs to create what we think is the perfect experience for our customers.
Yes, hemp CBD has very powerful anti-inflammatory properties AND so do some of the other herbs we use. It’s a cumulative effect.
We can not offer you any support with cooking with CBD Oil as we only deal with a water soluble powder found in our capsules, that are formulated for a capsule, not for cooking.
And CBD has over 40 different ailments that is supports, as found at www.ProjectCBD.org/conditions.. and it also has been a great preventative solution for many people. This is NOT a prescription. This is an all natural plant with some all natural herbs. If you want to break open the capsules and stick them in your favorite smoothie, that will work also.
Our CBD derived from Hemp can be shipped to all 50 states, under Hemp Oil Laws.
Ben,
If this nanotechnology form of CBD is a hybrid, doesn’t it mean that it has been genetically modified?
Also, is Nature CBD good for general health or is it only if people have specific conditions like pain, mind health issues, etc.?
Thanks,
Angelo
No, definitely not GMO! What we mean by Hybrid is that it's a technology that brings two powerful herbs together. Both are all natural. Curcumin from Turmeric and CBD that comes from a full plant Hemp Derived Oil.
My grandson has severe anxiety. His anxiety and meltdowns were so severe that we couldn’t go shopping, out to eat, or anything else normal people do. The medicines his doctors put him on have horrible side effects. We started him on the cbd oil once a day. Within a couple weeks we saw a huge difference. Yes, he still has some anxiety, and meltdowns, but nothing like they were. We can actually go you the grocery store with him now! And it’s not a coincidence because when we run out for a few days we can see the difference!
Hi, In your wonderful CBD overview above you state that the reason you started using CBD oil in the first place was to lower your cortisol levels. Did you succeed? If you are comfortable with doing so can you share the ‘before’ levels and the ‘after’ levels? Or maybe just the amount of the drop (average)..?? And, was this CBD product you now sell the one that you were using then?
Thanks :-)
Hey Deborah, yes, my cortisol has been dropping dramatically, and this is the exact stuff I use at 2-3 capsules each night: http://www.getnatureblend.com
Hi Ben, the discount code isn’t working. Has the discount expired?
Thanks.

Suffer from cervical Dystonia
I was in a terrible car accident and was hurt badly. I was in a lot of different narcotics for pain and muscle spasms and they made me nauseous and feel terrible. CBD oil reduced my muscle spasms by 75% and eliminated my nausea and vomiting 100%. It has truly been a Godsend. Thank you www.biocbdplus.com. – Stephanie
Hey Ben,
Thanks for the article. I’m dealing with adrenal fatigue and am looking for a way to manage my stress levels throughout the day. I am already taking a magnesium supplement (CogniMag) and was wondering if your natural cbd supplement would be ok to take with it?
Thanks.
YES. No contraindications there. Get it at http://www.getnatureblend.com
My 82 year old father has diabetes, neuropathy and polymyalgia, I realize you are not A Dr, but what would you recommend?
My husband has had several concussions ad his father passed away from Alzheimer’s, what do you recommend
I have migraines?.? Help
Hi Glenda, for something like this I'd need to go into a lot more detail with both you and him. Just go to https://greenfieldfitnesssystems.com/product/ben-… and then choose a 20 or 60 minute consult, whichever you'd prefer. I can schedule ASAP after you get that.
Also, check this out: https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/2015/03/how-to-h…
Hope that helps!

Hi Ben, fantastic article. The information and research you shared is the best I’ve found. I’m already a firm believer and user of CBD. Today I got my blood test results back from the VA, for the first time in 23 years my cholesterol, LDL and HDL are all normal. This is attributed to the daily intake of CBD and Flax oil. I factually know this because two years ago my VA doc expressed concern and wanted to put me on High Cholesterol meds and hypertension classes to help. At that time I started daily intake of CDB along with Flax oil and daily vitamins. And today I’m blown away with my lab results. And this is coming from someone who’s high cholesterol is hereditary. My parents, grandparents and even sibling. No matter how much exercise and good healthy vegetarian lifestyles would ever bring it down. Viola… all normal thanks to CBD, Flax oil and daily vitamins. I can’t exercise much because I’m a service connected disabled Vet with a bad back, along with PTSD. The local dispensaries do not carry your product. My question is how can disabled vets get your product and do you offer veterans any kind of price breaks? I’m already sold on the product, I’m just curious if their are any possible discounts offered. We have a really good program here in Santa Cruz CA for vets, free MM…but its not CBD, it’s flower and THC strains to help with our pain management and PTSD. Enough of my blabbing, just wanted to say thank you, share my good news, and see if any assistance can be offered. Thank you tremendously.
I am going to have someone from my team reach out to you.
Thank you Ben, you’re making a difference. I’ll watch my email. Best Regards.
I have various cancers on my head from the sun and have tried dermatological and alternative meds but nothing eradicated it including Rick Simpson oil for two months. I’m now using honey and CBD oil in combination. It seems to help but does not eradicate the problem. Any suggestions?
I have just purchased a bottle of CBD oil but am confused about the dosage. I am 90 yrs of age and have a lot of aches and pains due to a fractured sternum which happened a few days ago. I was given pain pills by the dr which do not work and make me nauseaus, I am hesitant to start taking the oil until I find the right dosage. Please advise.MILL
Hi Millie, dosages can vary anywhere from 10 to 800 mg of CBD per day. Unfortunately, there's no one-size-fits-all dose. My go to source for this sort of thing is projectcbd.org.
This has to be one of the most comprehensive blog posts on CBD I have come across so far… so many outbound links and research papers to immerse oneself in :) Keep sharing the good news and all the best with your business!!
Hi Ben, well written, thanks for all the info. Wanted to try but the link doesn’t work. Does this mean the product is not available anymore?
Hey Hannah,
The product is still available. You can get it at: https://getnatureblend.com/
Hope that helps!
Can I take CBD Oil, Fish Oil and multivitamin while on chemo?
Thanks, Teresa
I am not a doctor and this is not to be taken, interpreted or construed as medical advice. Please talk with a licensed medical professional about this. These are just my own personal thoughts and not a prescription or a diagnosis or any form of health care whatsoever. But I see no issues with those supplements for chemo…
Very interested in trying CBD for hot flashes. Tried to get to the page for NatureCBD mentioned in this article, but all I got was an error & “this page is no longer available” message. Where I can I look at the info for this product & possibly order it, or is it no longer available? Thanks.
Any medications you take orally can be taken via rectum at the exact same absorption rate and amount. I worked for hospice and learned this information. I don’t know about vaginally absorption.
Stage III Vulvar Cancer is visiting my body. I am taking CBD oil from the dispensary in Massachusetts. I put a rice grain size rubbed inside my mouth under my tongue. It is so terrible tasting, especially now with Chemo and Radiation, my stomach is ok, but I am getting almost nausea when putting the CBD Oil on my gums. Can I take it rectally or vaginally? Have you ever heard of this? Is it still just as effective as taken orally. I am only doing this because of my condition. It does help me sleep and I am more relaxed. I just wish I did not have to taste or smell it.
I have heard of this and it does get absorbed this way. Worth trying. I am not a doctor and this is not to be taken, interpreted or construed as medical advice. Please talk with a licensed medical professional about this. These are just my own personal thoughts and not a prescription or a diagnosis or any form of health care whatsoever.
I started using marijuana as a teen. The main reason that kept me using it was the fact that it made my stomach stop hurting. I thought I just had anxiety problems or an ulcer. I have no Idea It’s one of the reason that supress the pain I feel after I read this article from http://www.ilovegrowingmarijuana.com/cbd-in-medic…. Since reading is not my thing back then.
I stopped using it when I was 29. In the four years that I was not using marijuana, I had painful, crampy diarrhea that lasted nearly a year.
So I figured that if I’m going to use MM therapeutically, I’m going to do it right. Now I’m back with my vaporizer And kicking that chronic pain’s ass.
Hallo, I suffer from depression and I have a lot of pain caused by years of lifting my disabled daughter. I also hurt my back in a car accident in 2011. My back hasn’t been the same since. My question is about how much cbd, and what kind should I use. I also want to know if I have to stop my antidepressants? They don’t work as well anymore.
Serena, I am not a doctor and nothing I say should be taken as medical advice. Please consult your physician about coming off your medication. The hemp product I recommend can be found here: https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/hemp and the general recommendations are as follows but you are, of course, advised to consult your healthcare professional:
– 1 capsule per day for preventative care or general maintenance
– 1-2 capsules at any time of day where you need more focus OR you're dealing with anxiety and stress
– 5 capsules is the suggested upper limit for any 24-hour period
The turmeric and cbd oil combination was new to me.
+ Most of the benefits you have stated are with proper research.
I couldnt read every outbound link.
But it was really informative.
I will also write turmeric part in my blog : will give your blog a mention :)
Thanks a lot.
I am 52 yr old female and would love some help on what i can do for my imsomnia and general anxiety. i like to be enrgentic but relaxed and chill at the same time. help!

Hi Ben, just want to say to everyone out there considering this product. DON”T DELAY! This is AMAZING!
I have had RA for 21 yrs. This is the only product that I actually see, with my own eyes daily, my arthritic nodules shrinking big time. OMGosh, within 18 hours of taking the tendon nodules on my right wrist were GONE! o more need for wrist braces I have needed for years. I have friends that are experiencing great results to for fibromyalsia and chronic back pain!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Our lives just got so much better!
God bless you and your team!
Debbie
Thanks so much Debbie!
Hello. I have tried this CBD product a couple of times. This last time I took a pill at night it left me with a headache, similar to a hangover, and laid me up for the following day. I am wondering what might have caused this? I want to take CBD for its benefits for blood sugar.
Wow. I don’t know if this is a true investigation on your part; or simply a very clever marketing campaign; all I know is that the research is impressive; [I would be more impressed if you provided the actual links to all of the data that you used in this article] and that I shall now investigate products from this BioCBD+ company. Thank you.
Hi there! I haven’t read all the threads here but you say you take it at night? What about first thing in the morning to help with workouts and anxiety then? If so, how many capsules?
Thanks!
You can definitely take it first thing in the morning. General recommendations are as follows but you are, of course, advised to consult your healthcare professional:
– 1 capsule per day for preventative care or general maintenance
– 1-2 capsules at any time of day where you need more focus OR you're dealing with anxiety and stress
– 5 capsules is the suggested upper limit for any 24-hour period
Is it possible to ever overdose on CBD,
or does it lose effectiveness when you surpass the optimal dose?
I am not a doctor and this is not to be taken, interpreted or construed as medical advice. Please talk with a licensed medical professional about this. These are just my own personal thoughts and not a prescription or a diagnosis or any form of health care whatsoever. HOWEVER, dosages of over 100mg have never been shown to be an issue, and I personally do 30-60mg per day (if you use the NatureCBD form you can take less because it's far more absorbable).
How do I get this product? I live in the U.K.
You can get it here: https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/hemp
Is there any way the CBD supplements would show up on a very sensitive drug test?
I’ve got a son (16) that is living in a RTC, he has found this supplement to be very helpful in treating his depression and axiety, but it seems to be showing up on his drug test.
I would like to chat in person as soon as possible if that is possible-
Thank you
Unless they test for CBD (which isn't illegal) this product will not cause a positive blood test.
Is the curcuminoid completely necessary to take with CBD?
And does it have to be with each dose you take?
Or could you for example, drink turmeric milk every morning, and have the NatureCBD capsule a bit later in the day with the same effect?
Yes, otherwise you decrease absorption up to tenfold.
So a regular CBD brand and a glass of turmeric milk would be effective?
I can't vouch for any CBD but my own – a lot goes into how it is produced, but if it's a good supplement that has been well researched and you add turmeric, then theoretically – yes!
Really trying to get off my anti-inflammatory meds for Pericarditis (prednisone, aspirin, colchicine). Thinking maybe CBD would help me wean off. Are there any known interactions with these medications and CBD? My doctor could not find much research on it. Thanks
I am not a doctor and nothing I say should be taken as medical advice. I would suggest you talk to your physician about this. We do know CBD is metabolized in the liver by the P450 enzymatic system. So, any other drug, including THC, is affected to an unknown amount.
So what is the best way to take CbD oil for irritable bowel syndrome
I am not a doctor and nothing I say should be taken as medical advice. Please consult a physician. As a general guideline, start with 2-3 capsules a day and not exceeding 5 tablets in 24 hours.
Please could you tell me is it safe with blood pressure tablets.
I should begin by clarifying the fact that I am *not* a physician and this is *not* to be interpreted as medical advice. Please talk to a licensed medical professional about all of this! But I have personally seen no contraindications for CBD and blood pressure meds.
Hi
Thanks for the great article, there is so much useful information here!
Im not sure if someone may have already asked, but my question is about marijuana and hair loss.
Last year I started smoking weed, and I regularly toked for about 6 months before I started to notice my hair was falling out. I am 25 and have no prior history of hair loss.
So I quit the drug (which was very difficult in itself), and started my research into possible causes and remedies, since I was convinced it was the weed that was causing the hair loss
(along with other things such as greasy skin/hair and mild acne).
Until I came across an article which explained that THC can act as an agonist to CB1 receptors which exist in the hair follicle. And ultimately hair loss happens, not for
all smokers but for some. Obviously I still dont fully understand the ins and outs of the science.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2757…
Basically, from what you said in the article, would it be possible to use CBD as an antagonist to unbind the THC from the CB1 receptors in the hair follicle, and perhaps see hair
regrowth?
I now havent smoked in 6 months, and have yet to see any improvement in my hair health.
Any feedback you have I would greatly appreciate.
you are theoretically correct. Anything that reverses the deleterious effects of THC may help and CBD is certainly one of those. Worth a try.
Does CBD cause dry eyes? I’ve searched relentlessly but cannot find any articles on the subject as they all talk about THC..If you could reply to me I would really appreciate it and I want to start taking CBD but don’t want to aggrevate my dry eye condition caused by lacrimal gland dysfunction (not meibomian gland related)
Many thanks in advance.
I have never seen evidence of anything like that (but I'm not a doc and this isn't medical advice!).
I got my cbd from you and I’m not seeing any results. Don’t feel any different. Sleep problems still there, Same glucose numbers, no relief of pain etc.. Do I just need to take more? Or maybe it just doesn’t work for me?
I take 4-5 personally. Have you tried that dosage? Some people need higher dosages of many supplements…
Is your product good for relief from chronic pain? Bad knees, arthritis, etc. Can you be more specific about drug interactions with common used meds such as blood pressure, antidepressants, statins. Thank you.
You can find all the research on arthritis here: https://www.projectcbd.org/condition/12/Arthritis I am not a doctor and nothing I say should be taken as medical advice… I would suggest giving it a try!
my son (7 years old ) has panic attacks. I read CBD can help .I don’t know where to buy a good brand .I am in California
The only brand I can vouch for is my own. I would suggest you check out NatureCbd at https://greenfieldfitnesssystems.com/cbd
My daughter has been an epileptic since birth . She now takes 800mg of tegretol to control her seizures . how much cbd oil would she have to use for the same effect
I am not a doctor and nothing I say should be taken as medical advice. I would suggest you consult a good physician!
Hi Ben
My son has tourettes, his tics are mainly around his head and neck area. Would Cbd help with this?
Also i suffer from acid reflux and although i try to manage this with my diet at times it can be rwally bad, would i get any benefit by using cbd?
Yep, you can read about it here: http://www.medicalmarijuanainc.com/tourette-syndr… let me know if you have any more questions.
Good article :).
I’ve tried some CBD products, it seems to be an effective natural anti-stress aid. Definitely lowers cortisol i feel and has a strong anti-anxiety type effect.
Hi, my dad is having tetrabenazine for his treatment (diagnosed dystonia) Can he use CBD at the same time? Is there any interactions? Thanks.
Where can I buy biocbdplus curculio
I’m in South Africa
Sonja

Just wow, thank you so much for posting this, I’ve just spent the last 3h researching and reading more about the cbd oil and I am blown away!
Thank you again so much, I am sharing this with my family and friends now.

Hi Ben … A huge thank you for your informative text and knowledge.
My father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia three years ago. In the normal western medical manner he is currently on quite a lot of medication. But with side effects, mum and I who are caring for him at home are uncertain as to whether his behaviours are indeed symptoms of his dementia or the medication. Dad is unable to communicate, demonstrates intense anxiety and has sporadic sleep patterns.
We are considering cannabis oil, your cbd product to help dads symptoms. Dad must take warfarin as he has been taking it for many years. So would you recommend your product for my dads symptoms of dementia? And is it ok to take with his warfarin? Your thoughts and feedback much appreciated. Many thanks
Firstly, I'm not a doctor and nothing I say should be taken as medical advice. There is an interaction between CBD and Warfarin, you can read about it here: https://www.projectcbd.org/article/cbd-drug-inter…
I would start by reading this: https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/2015/12/episode-… and you can find all the research on CBD and Alzheimer's here: https://www.projectcbd.org/condition/7/Alzheimer%…
Thank you so much.
My Father passed away from Alzheimer’s. I wish I had known about this then. I said the whole time I wish I could talk “the retired fireman/veteran all around good guy” into smoking weed. I would have tried anything Alzheimer’s doesn’t play fair and nothing his Doctor prescribed ever helped or change symptoms for very long. He was anxious and regardless of what the dr’s said he was scared for two years until the very end when he given so much morphine he couldnt wake up anymore. TRY IT!
Thanks very much Ben for your amazing article!
I will like to get a clear thought on this:
how vaporizing CBD can help with cannabis withdrawal symptoms and still allow the user to pass a drug test?
Because they don't test for CBD on a drug test just THC
Hi Ben,
I’m seeking a bit of advice on what company to use for CBD products, I have looked at many but one of my friends recommended me https://www.canabidol.com do you mind having a look for me and giving me your recommendation?
I’m in need of CBD products as my husband is suffering with prostate cancer which is seemingly incurable – we have tried a range of things to either slow down the process or prevent some of the pain – we’re still putting up with his frequent radiation and hormone treatment but that isn’t always the best route to go down. I stumbled across the uses of CBD and have been reading articles like this to help me understand what is is that I’m trying to buy.
I would just be greatful to have your opinion on this company – I’ve heard that they’re trusted by many and have good reviews
Thank you!
Hi Zoe, the only CBD product I can vouch for is NatureCBD: <a href="https://greenfieldfitnesssystems.com/cbd” target=”_blank”>www.greenfieldfitnesssystems.com/cbd because I made the product myself. You can find out more about it here: https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/2015/05/how-to-u…
haha you know that zoe only wrote to get a company back link lol-
Ben does the discount code CBD10 still for for the NatureCBD on Greenfield Fitness Systems? I would like to try them for a one time supply. Cheers!
Dustin – there is currently a discount on monthly autoship, but not one time supply..
We have 20 lb dog that is an idopathic epileptic. He is currently on Keppra (375 mg three times daily) and phenobarbital (32.4 mg two times daily). We have CBD oil and want to use it. We have seen many documentaries and articles of it’s positive effects on epilepsy. One thing always seems to be missing is the dosage level. What dosage level should be used for a 20 lb dog and how often? We believe in this, but don’t know how to administer it correctly.
You need to speak to your vet about this as I'm not a vet and nothing I say should be taken as medical advice. If it were me I'd try a third or half capsule for average sized, full capsule for larger, but start small and work up, as pet seems to tolerate.

Hi Ben
I am currently taking Kalonopine .25mg two times daily for anxiety and Mirtazapine for sleep. I have been on these drugs going on two years.
My anxiety level is off the charts and I can not sleep without taking the Mirtazapine. I read somewhere that taking CBD would interact with the meds that I am taking.
I am desperate. I am trying to taper the amount of meds that I take but I know that it will be awhile before I can be free from these meds.
Do you know if taking the CBD while I am still taking the prescription drugs is safe.
Thank you in advance.
Joanie
I am not a doctor and nothing I say should be taken as medical advice. Best to talk to your physician about this!
Hi Ben.
Very informative article. Currently trying to find ways to get my daughter to eat more. Thought about CBD oil since it doesn’t any psychoactive effects.
She’s not suffering from any pain from her muscular dystrophy but has a very small appetite which causes her to be very skinny. Does NatureCBD only inhibit appetite? Or can it also stimulate appetite? Is there a NatureCBD dosing chart based on age and weight?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
Cheers,
Victor
Hi Ben,
Amazing article – thank you! I’m 39 and have a number of conditions; rheumatoid arthritis, underactive thyroid, longterm major depression and anxiety, and IBS. It’s the IBS that is most impacting my life at the moment.
I’m permanently bloated and have been for nearly a year. At best, I look slightly pregnant – at worst I look nearly full-term. As you can imagine, my self confidence and body image have plummeted, I can’t fit in any clothes and my social life is non existent. My diet was horrendous but, after working with a nutritionist for a year, it’s pretty much perfect now. I’ve had blood and stool tests and tried various ‘solutions’ and supplements as recommended by nutritionist – but to no avail. Most recently, I’ve tried kambo; three treatments in a lunar cycle. Again, no change whatsoever.
So! I’m hoping that CBD will help. Before I purchase natureCBD, I just wanted to ask a couple of questions. (I live in the UK so am mindful of the shipping). Firstly, what starting dose would you recommend and when/how would I know when to increase the dose? And to what maximum? How long does it usually take to see results and at what point, if I don’t see results, would it be fair enough to stop taking it and assume it isn’t the solution?
Finally, I was listening to one of your recent podcasts today in which you say that CBD is better absorbed when used as a suppository rather than swallowed orally. Is this the case with Nature CBD?
Sorry for the lengthy message!
Many thanks in advance,
Sarah
Sarah, has it helped your IBS? I have a relative who is suffering so much from it currently and I thought about CBD as a potential.
CBD did helped me a lot with IBS.
I had to wait 2-3 weeks before i noticed some effects.
I took and take cbd 5%, 5 drops twice a day.
What time of day do you recommend taking it? I have hpa axis dysfunction with high cortisol during the day and high estrogen. I seem to sleep ok and more cortisol at night is high normal.
is it okay to take the oil capsules swallowed whole, or do I dissolve them in tea or coffee.
It's fine to take them whole.
Hi Ben! What a great and informative article! Thank you for writing it. I have a question, I feel very worried about the immunosuppressive qualities of CBD. Everything I have read says that it does suppress your immune system making it easier to catch viruses, infections, disease, etc. What is your take on that?
Hello Ben, I’m from India. My apologies in advance for a long letter. I’ve found you article very informative and humorous also. While there are a few references to India, they are mostly of turmeric. Marijuana and Hemp recorded use in India is more than 6000 years old. You seem to have missed out on it though you do talk of Persia and early Christianity dating back to 2000 years.
Coming to my problem, I’m 59 and have been having back paint and stiffness since 1977. All along it was taken to be an orthopedic problem and treated accordingly. It was only in 2007 that I was correctly diagnosed as having AS as my HLA B27 was +ve. Having gone through the range of medication with various side effects, like tinnitus, heart attack I have been advised the biologic Remicade (Inflimab in India). I am reluctant to use an immunosupressive at my age. Also the internet is full of people who are on biologics but are not very happy with ever increasing dosages, costs and side effects.
Do you feel your Nature CBD will help me? The other thing is the cost factor. $115+ is a lot of money in Indian terms for a months supply. Do you have a scheme whereby you offer a discounted price for Countries like India where income levels are very much lower as compared to the US and other western countries
Hi Sanjay,
You can find all the research on CBD and different conditions here: https://www.projectcbd.org/conditions I would suggest looking into it. In terms of discounting to India, unfortunately not I'm sorry, something like that would be too difficult to manage on our end.
I will be traveling soon (Vegas), and typically have an extremely hard time falling asleep, if I fall asleep at all, while traveling. In the past I have gone 3 days without sleep only to have to rely on ambien (seems to be the only thing that will knock me out). While at home it takes me a while to fall asleep but it’s not impossible. You mention you take 2-3 capsules to help you sleep, will this be sufficient enough to knock me out or would that require a higher dose? Or would a different product entirely, such as one with more THC be more effective? I recently came across an article on PubMed (not sure if it was mentioned above) that stated that CBD usually has the opposite effect on aiding sleep and that THC is better for sleep. However, you did mention higher dose CBD will not have the opposite effect. So I’m a bit confused.
Also are there any negative interactions with your product and alcohol. Is it safe to have several drinks before taking the CBD supplement?
Thanks!
If you have that much trouble sleeping, there are better things you can do to help. I would strongly suggest this: https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/2015/09/sleep-ha… and this: https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/2016/02/how-to-u…
Hi Laticia
You can find here about the dosage https://www.americanhempoil.net/cbd-dosage/ how much you should intake I hope this will help you!
do you ship to australia
Yes!
Hi Ben –
Great article and I am super excited in trying your product. When I go on your site, it shows that it’s out of stock until the 2nd week of July. Is there a way to pre-order at this time? Thanks :)
There isn't unfortunately. But come second week of July there will be enough available for everyone!
Awesome! Thanks Ben :-)
I am having surgery soon. Should I stop taking CBD?
I am having surgery soon. Should I stop using CBD oil?
You will need to consult with your physician Alice. I'm not a doctor, and nothing I say should be taken as medical advice.
can this oil be used to inhibit invasive ductal breast cancer
I am not a doctor and nothing I say should be taken as medical advice – I would suggest consulting your physician and checking out the research at <a href="http://www.projectcbd.org” target=”_blank”>www.projectcbd.org
If you are thinking of moving to New Zealand then don’t.
We may have one of the worlds highest use of cannabis, but its illegal everywhere, and recently the THC free practically zero CBD Hemp varieties for eating were banned.
To obtain CBD one must ass lick government officials for piss weak synthetic versions for a hefty price.
New Zealand is run by a guild of corrupt pedophile scum.
Not sure if this has already been asked but what are the effects/safety on pregnant women?
– Future Father, Fellow PotHead
We have seen no study conducted for interactions with these medicines. It is always advisable to consult your doctor if you are on any medication. Same is true for Pregnancy . It is sensitive issue and any supplement should be used with Doctor’s advice.
Thank you, the article is quite thorough and definitely helps my understanding of how CBD works. I especially appreciate the coverage of the neuroscience (receptors and their actions).
Just before the listing of links to reference sources about CBD and anxiety, this sentence appears: “Here are the studies that have specifically investigated CBD’s role as an anti-anxiolytic:”
Please note, “anti-anxiolytic” is the opposite of the correct term here. CBD is an anxiolytic, meaning it alleviates anxiety. It is not an ANTI-anxiolytic. This fact is obvious in the wording of the very first link: “Cannabidiol, a Cannabis sativa constituent, as an anxiolytic drug (PubMed)”.
The word is anxiolytic. This is a serious error and major error, mostly because it makes the writing and facts of the article seem shoddy. Since this is a serious scientific article about our favorite new cannabinoid, it should be corrected to show readers that it is a reliable, accurate article.
Fixed!
I have not read all 220+ comments, so perhaps this issue was raised, but I have read in multiple sources that hemp plants and marijuana plants are not the same. Various sites claim that this issue is confusing consumers and they state that (industrial) hemp plants tend to be low CBD and lack the full spectrum of cannabanoids, terpenes and other chemicals. They caution consumers to purchase only CBDs derived from female flowered marijuana plants if they want the full health benefits. They also state that CBDs in isolation do not work as well as when they are coupled with THC and other cannabinoids and terpenes. (Nature always knows best.) Your product is derived from industrial hemp plants according to BioCBD’s website. You have addressed the issue of the female flowers (thank you), but I am still very confused about this issue. Can you clarify? Thank you. P.S. I, personally, won’t be able to use your product because I am sadly allergic to turmeric, but I appreciate the information you have presented here. I will have to wait for another company to manufacture a water soluble product with a different carrier.
Really sorry to hear you can not use our products due to Curcumin. Regarding hemp vs marijuana… yes this is an ongoing debate and the truth is that it's a fairly new debate and a lot of science is needed to make any claims. Yet, we can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that CBD is coming from Hemp along with over 100 different components such as other cannabinoids, terpenes and trade compounds. And thousands of people are able to experience the benefits. Maybe you saw the recent multi-part series on CNN? They were featuring Hemp CBD. CBD in it's whole plant and "entourage effect" is definitely the way to go… stay clear of the isolates or the 99.9% pure cbd products. We proudly use full plant extracts with all parts of the plant. And they are very effective. Anyone that is claiming that Hemp CBD is not as effective should talk to the thousands of families that are finding significant benefits (we will are not allowed to make claims but you can find thousands of people speaking up online about the benefits of Hemp derived CBD). Thanks for your question. You might look into Liposomal CBD, While it does not have the active ingredients our products to, and they use a completely different way to make CBD more bioavailable, it might be good alternative. All other product have to add or remove something to make CBD more bioavailable… in our case, we add a powerful antioxidant/ anti inflammatory herb of Curcumin from Turmeric.
Hi Ben.
i wanna know that it’s your product also be used for diabets ans colitis ulcerosa..
You will find all the research around CBD and medical conditions here: https://www.projectcbd.org/endocannabinoid-system halfway down the page!

Hi Ben, I suffer from the many symptoms of Lyme Disease. One of the symptoms is lack of refreshing sleep. Can CBD oil or help me? If so, what is the dose? Thank you!
CBD can definitely help with sleep. You can read research on it here: https://www.projectcbd.org/condition/48/Sleep-Dis… The dose is going to depend on the product – I obviously recommend the product here https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/hemp and take 2-3 capsules shortly before bed to help with sleep.
Hey! Great article. My brain kind of hurts but I’m sure it will all be absorbed. Speaking of which:
I wanted to know something about your part in the absorption of CBD. You talked about how CBD is non water-soluble and the best way to get the full effect is to either take a large amount OR vaporize it which you considered to be annoying or unnecessary. I on the other hand have no quarrels with doing this as I am an occasional smoker. Since you didn’t elaborate much on vaporizing, does this imply that it is still an adequate route to getting a better effect of CBD?
Any information you have on this is greatly appreciated.
For efficient and target delivery without having to Vape so much that you risk sucking in a ton of the added vaporized liquids that you would need to vapor along with the CBD you really can't beat using the water-soluble capsule
Seriously people if you are not using cbd oil you should as it heals and cures.
Has anyone tried CBD as an antagonist to endocannabinoids, esp in the treatment of acne and hair loss?
Apparently over expression of CB1 receptors in keratinocytes can cause loss of hair proliferation if smoking THC.
An effect I realised after smoking the good stuff for 6 months straight.
Have you ever researched the combination of tocotrienols with CBD to make it bio available? The research performed by Dr. Barry Tan has been very thorough and shows a tendency to help certain chemicals transcend the cell wall. Just a thought and was wondering if you ever heard of it.
I haven't felt the need to further increase the bioavailability of our water soluble CBD, as the formulation is already 100% bioavailable.
I cant believe my dad is cured with the cannabis oil, after all hope has been lost.
My dad was diagnosed with a cancer, ( before i learnt of Rick Simpsons oil / RSO ) the hospital said to do chemotherapy and radiotherapy.. she did.. and went through a lot.. but no cure, after a while the doctors said the cancer was spreading and we could look for alternatives.. i searched the internet and found out about the oil.. asked alot of questions.. watched the videos etc.. we made the oil our selves but it couldn’t just work out we were doing more harm than good and the cancer was still there spreading, i searched more on the internet i found a testimony on how a lady got the oil via an email, i immediately copied the email: [email protected], i wrote to this very email and in an hour later i got a reply back asking me some few questions, and enlightened me on how to get the oil in the next 48hours, i placed my order and in the next 48hours the medication oil got to us. immediately my dad started using the oil, it been two months now, since my dad has been using the medication oil and his cancerous problems are gone this very fact was clarified by the doctor.
i put up this piece of testimony for the sake of those once who need this oil to please don’t die in silence their is a cure for your cancer today

Ben
you mention CBD here, there, and everywhere …I’d love to take it daily, problem is, I get DOT tested randomly. I cannot seem to find definitive answer, though looking high and low, Will this stuff trip a drug test?
what say you ?
thx
Not NatureCBD. Less than 0.3%THC and won't show on urine test.
I found all this very interesting and am looking to get involved. I live in the UK and i have managed to find this on Amazon, would this work?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0151P4KZE/re…
I know im a bit late to the party but am looking for some inflammation releif from exercise and sport. Thanks for any help.
we ship natureCBD to the UK. That is what I would use.
But would that other one work?
unlikely.
So naturecbd is the only one to get?
Seems like a way to sell this stuff. Thanks though.
Will NatureCBD help with ADD or ADHD?
You can find some good studies on CBD and ADD/ADHD here: https://www.projectcbd.org/condition/3/ADD-and-AD…
Thank you for the great write up. I believe CBD will get even bigger in the following years to come.

I have great interest in CBD and appreciate all the information provided, but I have one basic question regarding the nano-particle comparison especially since Bio availability and the ‘potential dangers of crossing the BBB’ by some in a concern. Simply how can you refer to the CBD ad a nano particle when, for reference, a sheet of paper is about 100,000 nanometers thick. A strand of human DNA is 2.5 nanometers in diameter. There are 25,400,000 nanometers in one inch. A human hair is approximately 80,000- 100,000 nanometers wide. This said, anyone who does any basic search (or research) will find that Nanoparticles are particles between 1 and 100 nanometers in size. You can see my concern with your comparison to a human hair (1/100th the width) is not even close; A ‘large’ nano-particle (100nm) would still be 1/800th the width of the most ‘thin’ human hair. Could you please clarify for me? Thank you!
Hey norah, 120 nm size and they have measured in a lab. Considering that your body makes it's own endogenous Endo cannabinoids that do indeed interact with neural tissue, crossing over the blood brain barrier should not be a concern here.
Does any of the CBD oil contain THCa? The precursor for THC?
Thank you
Not NatureCBD. No THC.
This article seems to suggest that CBD oil taken from hemp plants and not “Marijuana Plants” is inferior. Care to weigh in a comment Ben? Thank You.
http://www.chronictherapy.co/hemp-oil-vs-cbd-oil-…
The article is inaccurate. CBD oil is not mutually exclusive from hemp oil, nor is all hemp made from industrial hemp. The hemp for NatureCBD is organically grown, and the word industrial, while having a negative connotation in this industry because of the fact it implies the oil is dirty, only means to classify that the hemp is grown for production (hemp fibers, basts etc). The oil in NatureCBD is indeed CBD oil, and always has a CBD content above 30%. The only thing that separates NatureCBD from being medical marijuana oil is the high CBD content and low THC content (below 0.01%).
Hi,
I suffer from depression and am wondering if CDB Oil can help me. I’ve heard it helps people with anxiety but I do not have anxiety… Have studies shown it helps people with depression specifically. Any information you have on CDB Oil helping depression will be a huge help to me.
Recently a friend gave my 80 year old father a small bottle of 550 MG CBD Oil to help him with some chemo side effects. My father does not want it so he gave it to me as he knows I have restless legs at night with tiny little muscle spasms like little fireworks going off in both lower legs from the knee down when I lay down to go to sleep at night.
The bottle I have is small, like the 1.5″ tall with an eye dropper on the top. I think it says it is 16ml but its hard to read the type is so small.
Anyway, if I want to try it for depression how many drops of this should I take each day? What time of day? Do I put it under my tongue or on top of my tongue? How long do I hold it there before I swallow?
You can use CBD oil for depression and you can find all the related studies here: https://www.projectcbd.org/condition/18/Depressio…
I'm not sure on dosage for the oil you have, I can only vouch for my product NatureCBD: https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/hemp-…
Hi, I’m impressed as never heard about CBD before, I really would like to try but I’m not in the USA. Can I buy in a affordable price in the UK ?
Because, I suppose I have to take much more than 1 a day to feel the benefits and it”ll Be an impossible love due my financial conditions. :/
Its sad to know the history behind the weed, I hope the government stop sabotage the good things in order to profit, and this product could be more affordable to all people like paracetamol is. Stop hiding the true and making us puppets..how many will die from diseases and manipulation until they change? Is sad to know the true but makes me happy to know people like you, Helping people to awake and be cured by this cruel world ..
I hope I can be a consumer soon. Looking forward to hearing from you. If you can email me back would be awesome, I’m really keen to try this product.
You can order it to the UK from https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/hemp-… – we ship to the UK.
Hello:
I have previously ordered BioCBDplus Total Body Care capsules through CBDOil Review Website. You can also order it through the mfg website, www.biocbdplus.com.
A) You stated in a reply to another poster that
“NatureCBD uses same technology as BioCBD but with addition of ashwaganda and lemon balm. They are not the same product. I personally use NatureCBD.”
However, you didn’t mention in the “comparison” that biocbdplus also contains magnesium. What is the benefit of NatureCBD with the ashwaganda and lemonbalm (minus Magnesium) versus the BioCBDplus with Magnesium minus the ashwaganda and lemon balm).
B) The only ingredients in BioCBDplus are: BioCBD, Curcumin, Magnesium, Starch, and Cellulose. They don’t give the amounts, claiming proprietary formula, but state that there is 10mg CBD in each capsule (same as your NatureCBD). Other than 10mg CBD, what are the %ages of ingredients in NatureCBD?
C) They claim that because of the bioavailability, you only need 10mg (but say you can work up to 30mg/day).
However, the CBDOil Review website, after extensive research on all CBD products, advises that a starting dose should be 25mg per day. Please Advise suggested dosages for starting your NatureCBD, when to increase if you have serious conditions and how much to increase.
Thank You!
NatureCBD includes magnesium as well. So I believe that part of the Q is irrelevant. ;) we can't get out the exact details of the formula because then other people can claim it, steal it and use it – That's just part of being in the supplement industry. I advise a starting dose of 20 mg or nature CBD.
How can I get several copies of “I want my CBD” by Brian Popko? My address is POB 920 Seaside, Or. 97138
How can I obtain the booklet “I Want My CBD booklet by Brian Popko? NEWPORT BEACH, CA
THANKS
I'm not sure I understand what you're asking?
My husband is 52 and has brain atrophy. There is no history of Dementia in his family and they haven’t found anything else wrong with him. Trying to save his life but Ativan is the only thing that works to keep him semi-calm so he can be in a facility that can care for him 24/7. What CBD oil, if any, do you recommend and how much should he take with the Ativan at first to eventually be able to get him off that awful medication?
I am not a doctor and nothing I say should be taken as medical advice. You would need to work with your physician to trail CBD – but the stuff I recommend is here: https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/hemp-…
So am I to assume, due to no response/deleted comment that my simple question was too difficult to answer? With all the technical & correct information you have on you GREAT website, can someone (?) not simply correct or acknowledge the FACT the your NOT using nano-particle size product? I am truly interesting (for my wife) in CBD, have done my research, and I love working with numbers which is why if found this discrepancy. Comments welcome, but avoidance is disturbing.
Thanks again (hopefully),
Sorry Michael – I can't find your initial question. Can you please ask it again?

Stage IV lung cancer…Spread to bones in legs, hips, back, liver, lymph nodes, kidneys and base of skull…Large Cell Carcinoma…Not taking radiation or chemo looking for pain relief…Pain in legs and hips and back are now a 9 on scale of 1-10…What is recommendation on oils, etc…
I should begin by clarifying the fact that I am *not* a physician and this is *not* to be interpreted as medical advice. Please talk to a licensed medical professional about all of this!
But you could try the https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/CBD as one approach to see what happens…
I am about to purchase some of your product. It sounds great. But would also like to use vape oil as well as it sounds like that is a good way to get it into the body. Which vape oil would you recommend in conjuction with your NatureCBD?
Thanks for a great article.
I want to specially thank Rick Simpson for saving my friend’s life with his healing oil. some years back my friend Rose was diagonized with a deadly disease cancer of the lungs, we try all medication all to no avail, we also try to do the oil our selves but we were doing more harm than worse. until I saw a post on facebook on how the cannabis oil had cured a cancer patient, I quickly emailed the mail: [email protected] from that very moment we just have to give it a trier, instantly we got a reply from him asking us what the exact cancer problem that my friend Rose has, we explained every details of it to him and he told us, that his oil will heal my friend cancer problem only if we can order for it as soon as possible.
He calculated the dosage for us to buy i think the dosage he calculated was 60grams of the oil which we ordered plus 30grams maintenance free and also with a body lotion and soap. He told us that if we order it online now by the next 48hours the medication will get to our door step through the delivery services, we decided to give it a try and behold when we did exactly 48hours of ordering the medication came to our door step through the delivery agent and deliver it to us. immediately we emailed Rick back that we have gotten the medication, and the usage instruction manual was also delivered to us. my friend Rose started the medication immediately just after a month of using Rick Simpson cannabis oil, Rose is now free from cancer problem, she is living a healthy life my utmost priority of sharing this short testimony is for those that are suffering from my kind of cancer diseases or if your friend or family members are suffering from this deadly disease, please don’t die in silence there is a cure for your cancer today don’t waste anytime further you have to email Rick Simpson directly and save your live and the lives of others

Hi Ben, can you ship to South Africa??
We can definitely ship there but aren't responsible for what happens when it reaches SA ie. taxes, customs etc
I was wondering if and how it could benefit someone with ADD or ADHD.
You'll find all the info you need here: https://www.projectcbd.org/condition/3/ADD-and-AD…
Excellent article! How ever now I am confused. For optimal muscle pain/inflammation and recovery is pure CBD or CBD/THC combo the best bet?
ie: If just finished a 20km trail run, what is optimal for pain/inflammation and recovery?
Pure CBD
Several articles I have read indicate that a combination of THC and CBD is better than just CBD…
Do you think the bioavailability of NatureCBD will provide the same or similar benefits.
Can you recommend a blood test profile that can track a person’s improvement from the use of NatureCBD?
YES…THC and CBD combine quite well!
Re: blood test – depends on what you'd be using CBD for…for example, if inflammation, then you'd want HS-CRP…here is a good list of tests: https://greenfieldfitnesssystems.com/product-cate…

I do not produce cortisol and have to supplement it. You mentioned that it lowers cortisol levels. I was curious as to how? Is it an agonist, does it block production by the adrenals, or does it absorb/use the cortisol in your system? I am pretty sure it just causes a decrease in production due to it’s effects on the brain, which would not cause my artificial maintainence any issues, but it would be nice to know more. Without cortisol, your body can have major issues!
I believe it decreases actual secretion…as shown here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8257923
Im confused, doesnt that study show CBD stabilising and slightly increasing cortisol levels???
They can act very similar to an adaptogen, helping to increased cortisol when it is low and helping to decrease it when it is high.
This. Can you tell me if you ship to the uk? Thanks
We will but we can't guarantee it will get through customs.
Just curious,
How long has this product been out on the market?
About six months.
I was wondering how the CBD is extracted from the hemp, is it CO2 which I heard is much superior to chemical solvents?
Short answer: it’s CO2 extracted.
You can find it on the FAQs page, https://www.biocbdplus.com/contact/frequently-asked-questions, and scroll down to the question, “Where do we get our oil?”
The answer: “All of our hemp is organically grown and processed in ideal hemp cultivation climates around Europe, where it is multiple times, before the highest quality CO2 Extracted CBD Oil is sent to our labs. We then test the product again prior to being converted to our proprietary curcumin technology.”
And at the very bottom of the page, https://www.biocbdplus.com/contact/frequently-asked-questions, there is a more detailed, deep-dive response to the question, “What is the extraction process for the CBD in BioCBD+?”
Answer: “We use supercritical CO2 extraction. CO2 used for extractions does not contribute to the overall atmospheric CO2 levels.”
Hi Ben
I am wondering how well it works for back pain. I have a torn disc l1 s1 in my back and am currently takeing hydrocodone 7.5/325 tizinadine 4 mg and diclofenac would it work good so I can get off of all the pills.
I am not a doctor and this should not be taken as medical advice. You should consult your doctor before taking CBD. In terms of pain management, you can check out all the studies done on it at this website: https://www.projectcbd.org/condition/1/General

He did my parathyroidectomy and he is the best there is in this field. He can tell you if you need a repeat surgery and if it will help. He fixes parathyroids that were operated on by other doctors all the time and does a splendid job. Fast, almost painless, perfect. Please call him. Please. You shouldn’t try to live with a botched parathyroidectomy. Believe me it is so super dangerous to your health. Bless you Mike.
I’m taking CBD oil for pain of joints because of long term primary hyperparathyroidism that was keeping me from walking. Am doing much better. Call him.
Marilyn of Wisconsin.
Ben, can you make up a batch of high octane pure cannabis oil in eye-dropper bottle with out any carrier oils or minus any fillers? With little or no THC. Just looking for purest cbd oil that’s not watered down. If not able to drum up your own, then can you tell me where I can buy some? It’s legal here where I live, ( Alaska ) it’just not alveilable any where as far as I know. You could charge me a little finders fee, but have to wait until first of month because of my disably sitution. Thank’s for any thing you can come up with, -Brian.
Yep, here: https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/cbd.
I have been nerve injured by inhaling neurotoxic chemicals through an industrial accident on several occasions… low dose chronic exposure. Damage to both the CNS and PNS. I suffer from moderate to severe nerve pain and severe tinnitus in one ear.
Waddya think?
I would suggest speaking with your physician and reading through the studies found here: https://www.projectcbd.org/conditions
Thanks Ben… super appreciate the scientific articles. My physician is a goob… he told me to go to the local 7/11 around 10 at night… I didn’t think it was funny. He knows nothing about CBD. I ordered two bottles of your Nature CBD; what dosage should I be looking at for the nerve pain. I also have a close friend who has had shoulder replacement operations 5 separate times and now suffers from nerve damage and pain. Any suggestions (I know you are not a physician but just an idea)
Lastly, you mentioned to the post below me to check out biocbdplus … what is the difference between your product and theirs?
Thanks Dave
Dave,
NatureCBD has ashwaganda.. In terms of dosage it's ALWAYS recommended to consult healthcare professional before taking any supplements, including NatureCBD; as everybody responds differently to CBD. Depending on your tolerance of the product, 2-4 capsules 30-60 min before bed should be helpful; recommended upper limit per 24-hour period is 5 capsules
Thanks Ben… got a couple of bottle arriving today
And one more question (sorry)
Nature CBD hybrid-nanoengineered CBD oil extract from hemp.
It says from hemp and not marijuana… is that why it is legal and can not be found in blood screens?
Your answer is in the post above!
Hi Ben
Wondering about interactions between Ativan and cbd?
Hey Mike, this is definitely something you'd want to speak with your physician about. I'm not a doctor so cannot advise.
My 13 year old daughter has POTS (postural orthastatic tachycardia syndrome) and EDS (Ehlers-Danlos syndrome). The EDS causes joint displacement and severe pain we also think she may have chronic fatigue syndrome. Right now I’m giving her Plus CBDoil spray that I put in a vegan capsule because she doesn’t like the taste. Two sprays is 8mg of hemp oil and 1mg of cannabinol (CBD). I can tell it’s working because when I give it to her she doesn’t complain as much from pain. But trying to get her to take it on a daily bases is hard. My question is how long does CBD usually last in the system before I would need to give her another dose? She weighs 89 pounds. Also when she dislocates a joint will this help with the inflammation that occurs?
By the way I loved the article.
You will find all of the studies on inflammation here: https://www.projectcbd.org/condition/26/Inflammat…
It's hard to say how long it will stay in her system for as it's different for everyone. I suggest consulting a doctor.
Hi, Will you post to Spain? Thankyou
Yes, we can ship anywhere in the world, although we can 100% guarantee that the customs in your country will let it through, we've had really good luck so far.
I have heard that ozone injections can help grow ligament tissue and improvement joint stability and quality of life. I have heard EDS patients have had permanent relief with this therapy.
I’m trying to find research on the use of CBD during pregnancy. I have depression and anxiety but don’t want to take medication or smoke marjuana. Do you know of any evidence stating that the use of CBD during pregnancy is harmful to mom and baby?
I should begin by clarifying the fact that I am *not* a physician and this is *not* to be interpreted as medical advice. Please talk to a licensed medical professional about all of this! Studies conducted to evaluate the safety of CBD intake for pregnant mothers found it to have no significant effect on developing embryos: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7568154
How about the risk to babies if the mother is nursing and taking cbd?
This is something you will need to consult with your physician about. Here are a few directories that may help you find a good functional medicine or naturopathic practitioner in your area:
• HealthProfs.com
• FunctionalMedicine.org
• Naturopathic.org
• PrimalDocs.com

Hi Ben my son suffers with phycosis after 5 years of horrible drugs i took matters into my own hands.
Started reading about cannobis oil i introduced this oil to shane & after only the third dose i noticed a difference his now been taking it for 10 days.
I have never seen him so well.
My question is would your cbd caps be much better for him and are they big in size.
What would you recommend in a dose for him.
Can i contact you easy if i have a question.
I am in australia my supplier of the cbd oil is very easy to contact & i also have a doctor i can call to ask any questions.
Look forward to your reply cheers.
Hi Nicole, I would see if you can find your son's condition here: https://www.projectcbd.org/condition/1/General
We will vouch for the purity and superior absorption of NatureCBD at https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/hemp-… , although we cannot diagnose it for any specific medical conditions.
Hi, is NatureCBD a product I can use for the rest of my life every day or just for a certain amount of time?
Thanks so much, sounds like a fabulous product.
Stephanie H.
I personally use it every day. There are no long-term dependency issues, etc.
Ben, I’m curious. As someone who suffers from Anxiety and Depression and takes Ativan for these conditions… have you received any feedback from customers or “patients” regarding successfully treating anxiety and depression via Nature CBD. Also, were these people, if any, able to say “good bye” to their pills because I’d Nature CBD?
Not directly, no. But there is a tonne of research that's been done on it through projectcbd.org: https://www.projectcbd.org/condition/10/Anxiety https://www.projectcbd.org/condition/18/Depressio…
I have chronic pain, severe recurring depression, no energy, no motivation, just really just tired of pain and tired of being tired… I have tried medical weed for severe pain, it worked, it also gave me energy. But have smoked street weed ND I get paranoid. Dont want that, yes I have sleeping problems. Just tired of all the damn pills, that I know I will pay for later. I broke my back 5yrs ago caught mrsa, I just want to feel better. Is there any help? I’m about to give up. Ty

I wonder if you’ve every heard of someone who starts using the CBD oil and their anxiety and depression gets worse. This is what I’m experiencing now. I took Prozac for several years, but have been off of it for over 3 years. I was looking for a good alternative (the side effects of Prozac were unbearable). Maybe it’s a dosage issue. I have been using the drops, about 12 drops two times a day. This particular brand is 200 mg per dose (dose is 30-40 drops). I know you can’t give advice, but I just wondered if you have heard of this happening.

Does a bottle of NatureCBD contain 30 capsules of 10 mg. each? I assume some with rather severe pain would require at least 3 capsules a day to see results, would this be accurate? If so a bottle would only last 10 days.
Depends on how much you use, but yes, each bottle gets you 300mg of CBD…
I am having some major issues with major anxiety and major depression that seems to be treatment resistant. I am currently on 75mg of Zoloft, 12.5mg of Seroquel for sleep, 5 to 10 mg of Valium a day and several vitamins as well. I have tried a number of different anti depressants. Nothing seems to be helping much. Out of desperation I have been exploring other options. My question is can I use the oil with all these other meds. Clearly I can’t just stop them but am hoping if I could get the anxiety and depression under control then I could wear off the pharma meds. If you can’t answer this question could you direct me to someone who could. Thanks!!’
Brandi, I'm not a doctor and this shouldn't be taken as medical advice. I cannot advise on taking it with your current meds, you'll need to speak to your doctor about it. But I can say that there's be some great research into CBD's effect on depression and anxiety, which you can check out here. https://www.projectcbd.org/condition/18/Depressio…
Hello every one Hey! I can’t believe this. Glory be to God for leading me to this genuine Dr. Mark Sircus. I am so happy as i am sharing this testimony. I suffer from fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and migraines for years. I just started taking various vitamins including turmanic because nothing doctors are doing is helping. I take Topamax, Gabapenten, Pepcid, and Claritin and get steroid injections from time to time. I have a neurologist that wants to do Botox injections for the migraines. I’m wondering whether there could be interactions from any of this and taking Nature CBD. I don’t get much help from my doctors except more drugs which make me sick so I’m investigating on my own. Thanks.
You would need to speak to your neurologist about interaction with CBD – but if you visit https://www.projectcbd.org/condition/22/Fibromyal… it will give you all the info on the studies done around fibromyalgia. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Does it help migraines?
Yes – you can find all the info you need here: https://www.projectcbd.org/condition/31/Migraine
I'm curious about CBD and fatty liver. If I take this product of yours will I be able to reverse my fatty liver? You mentioned a little but about it. I'd like more info.
I'm not a doctor so can't give medical advice, but here is up-to-date research on effects of cannabinoids on liver: https://www.projectcbd.org/liver-disease
Hello- thank you for this informative article. I am very new to MM. I got my card two weeks ago to use it as a substitution for alcohol. I also have mild OCD and Tourette Syndrome plus I’m in perimenopause and suffer from dizziness and panic attacks. At first, I enjoyed an 8-1 CBD/THC tincture. But I felt diminishing returns in the calming effect so I went to 1-1. Then I stupidly added a THC tincture to the 1-1 and had a severe panic attack. Since then, even a 20-1 CBD/THC tincture makes me feel panicky. I fear that I cannot use MM and will go back to alcohol. There is one thing I haven’t tried and that is pure CBD. Goldmist has a CBD spray and I’m curious to try. From what I have said, do you recommend that I try CBD without the THC? The stress relief that I first felt was so helpful but it seems that I have become very THC sensitive.
It would be worth trying CBD without THC, yes. But be careful, as most CBD oils are not absorbable, that's why I created NatureCBD with tumeric.
I am on blood thinners due to blood clotting disorder. I have a brain injury and pain disorder. Will the blood problems prevent me from taking CBD or is there another way to take it without ingesting or smoking it?
I would speak to your physician about this, as I'm not a doctor and can't give our medical advice.
Hi
I wanted to thank you for this article, as it is one of the most informative and well presented explainations on the subject, which I have ever read.
I have taken CBD oil in the past, and am also a medical cannabis patient; however I have had some very bad interactions that I thought you might be able to help troubleshoot. I suffer from migraine, lower back pain, digestive issues and insomnia. Initially I saw great results in all aspects of my health when I began taking CBD and shortly thereafter augmented this with vaporized medical cannabis.
My question is specifically regarding CBD interactions with the endocannabinoid or limbic system and a mention made in your post regarding homeostasis. In April of this year I got a tube of "high CBD" oil which was foul tasting and made me gag. It did not sit well and my digestion went off. The company said that there was nothing wrong but by the end of the month I was in trouble. I stopped taking CBD and basically had an emotional breakdown. I went to a therapist to find out how and why I had basically lost homeostasis – precisely how I summarized my condition.
During the summer I changed my licenced provider to one who offers an exceptional, high-CBD strain they call Avidekal. Taking this can noticably improve my mental state to the point that I have experimented not taking it at all for a week, whereupon the loss of homeostasis begins to occur with more frequency. This month I made a butter from it so I can easily consume it every day before work without having to vaporize.
It is clear to me that the more regularly I take CBD, the more emotionally stable I become. Does your research in any way bear out or contradict my experience? It is not a question that my doctor or licenced provider can answer with any great authority.
You should also know that the company from whom I purchased the "bad" CBD oil was completely unhelpful or caring about my reaction beyond denying thier product had any hand in causing it. They offered no refund and told me to just purchase another tube. So It is with a certain amount of trust and hope, that I leave my story here for you to read, or ignore.
Thank you for your time and attention.
In short, I personally experience that same feeling of restored homeostasis when I personally use CBD, especially about 20-30mg in the evening. But it seems to work it's way out of my system within about 24 hours or so…
Ben, I have been following you for a while and wanted to know your thoughts on CBD oil and ADD.
All my thoughts are here: https://www.projectcbd.org/condition/3/ADD-and-AD…
Hi Ben,
Can CBD oil have any positive effects on chronic fatigue? (I couldn’t process ciprofloxacin and it basically poisoned me – the worst being CFS due to mitochondria toxicity – nasty, nasty permanent side effects!)
You definitely need to check this out: http://sensiseeds.com/en/blog/how-cannabis-can-tr…
Thanks for the link Ben! Sounds promising.
Hey Ben ! Really nice post. I just bought some CBD oil 20 % and on the webside Endoca.com they recommend that you take 200 mg 3 times a day which i think is a lot, but you still recommed only 10 mg ?
Best regards Jesper
That's because their CBD is ineffective, so you have to take craploads. You only need 10mg of NatureCBD.
Hi!
CAN I TAKE CBD OIL TO THE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTS?
we are planning to take CBD oil (what I need for my autistic son for our long flight next week) to our international journey.
It will be an international flight so do you think it will be OK to take it?
I have learned drug dogs might detect it. Can we get into trouble?
need your advice soon.
thank you very much
suzan
I can't 100% guarantee it, but I personally travel internationally with CBD all the time, with zero issues. There is literally close to zero percentage thc.
Hi. Can you recommend this to a 4 yr old boy diagnosed with asd + adhd? He is not mute but has a language delay/problem. If yes, please tell how many drops/times a day is good for him. Thank you.
Kat,
I'm not a doctor! Check out https://www.projectcbd.org/condition/3/ADD-and-AD… for info.
Your product is Nature CBD, but then your comparison is BioCBD+ vs the others.
BioCBD+ is twice the price of Nature CBD on CBD oil review.org
Are they the same product, if not, why does it seem that way?
NatureCBD uses same technology as BioCBD but with addition of ashwaganda and lemon balm. They are not the same product. I personally use NatureCBD.
Hi Ben,
I found your article to be very informative. My son has refractory Epilepsy and Type 1 Diabetes. I am very interested in CBD but I am concerned about how it will interact with the 3 AED’s he is currently taking as well as how it will affect his blood glucose levels as he is on an insulin pump. Do you know of anyone with a similar combination of issues? How they have handled introducing CBD to their regime? And if they are seeing positive results?
Also does NatureCBD contain phytoestrogens? I’m and getting conflicting information from different sources. I would like to try CBD myself but I am sensitive to phytoestrogens.
Thanks
Hi lisa,
This question is really best answered by a doctor. Dr. Koch is a medical professional and he offers $50 sessions for anyone that wants to speak to a medical professional. His answer is:
"As far as I know, CBDs are compatible. My daughter was on several epileptic meds while using MMJ and CBDs. Also as you know CBDs often help with Type 2 diabetes, but not so much with Type 1. However you should continue to monitor closely. My numbers have dropped a little since using CBD. As far as adding CBD to your routine, as always, start slow and build."
If you want more info go to <a href="http://www.cbds4health.com” target=”_blank”>www.cbds4health.com or email Dr Koch: [email protected]
I just wanted to clarify what exactly is added to the NatureCBD; is it pure turmeric or curcumin? Curcumin is extracted from turmeric and has been shown to be unsafe to take long term. Turmeric in its natural, unaltered form however does not have this negative effect.
Neither. The answer is "curcuminoids"…totally safe. Where did you see, btw, that crucumin is unsafe long term?
My husband is in the process of being approved for a kidney/pancreas transplant and since marijuana is not legal in SC he is having to go through an addiction class and test clean to be approved. He has been a daily smoker for many years and I was wondering if this would help decrease any issues he may have when he quits. He has some depression and anxiety especially lately due to medical issues. He is a Type 1 diabetic with CKD and will probably be on dialysis within the next few months. He also has diabetic neuropathy, retinopathy, and hypothyroidism Will your product be ok for him to take and will it help him? He cannot take NSAIDs due to his kidney disease. Thanks
If you go to http://www.projectcbd.org you can definitely see evidence that CBD may help with all of these, but i'm not 'allowed' to make any health claims myself.
I am curios about using your product. I have hyperparathyoidism that persists after having a parathyoidectomy. Are you aware of any benefits related to PTH levels and related calcium levels. Both remain high and I am suffering from recurrent kidney stones and now some bone loss. I am trying to avoid a do-over surgery to try to find elusive parathyroid tissue and also avoid bisphosphonates and Prolia.
Go to http://www.projectcbd.org you will see evidence for what CBD helps with, but i'm not 'allowed' to make any health claims myself.

Please, Mike Tassone, contact Dr James Norman of the Norman Parathyroid Center
Address: 2400 Cypress Glen Dr, Wesley Chapel, FL 33544
Phone:(813) 972-0000 9 am to 4 pm weekdays
Sorry got cut short last post. I also suffer from stomach issue as well as headaches neck spasms throat tightness and inflammation of stomach and throat. Fibro like pains in face and upper body!!
Do you recommend taking 1 pill at first? I suffer extreme anxiety and was in Xanax . Do you feel the effect right away or does it take awhile to get into system! I’m just wondering what to expect before I start!
For anxiety, I recommend starting with 2 unless you're a pretty small person (under 120lbs). Takes about 10-20 minutes to begin to feel effects…
Hi Ben,
What’s you take on vaporizing CBD, I’m no kid or pet either – so have no problem to smoke or vape it?
Great article, as always.
Thank you.
Definitely down with vaping CBD
Does your product work on RLS/RAS? I am desparate for relief. I’ve gone from only nightly symptoms to 24/7 symptoms. I am no longer able to function normally or work.
Since the DEAs rescheduling and massive interference in pain management recently, I can no longer get access to the only med that works for me, opiod based.
Please note, I am not an addict and have a several genotypes with specific alleles that prevent the the high but get all the benefits from pain relief. Cool for me, but the “Dr.s” want to keep sticking me will steriods. My autoimmune system is now completely compromised from all the steroids. My other pain I can deal with (just barely now) but the RLS/RAS is literally driving me insane.
Can your product help me?
Thanks
Desparate for Relief
Here's the deal: I can't legally tell you yes or no. But what I can tell you is that if you visit http://www.ProjectCBD.org the condition you are talking about is certainly discussed, and the effects of CBD on it are discussed in a favorable light….I hope this helps!
Hey Ben,
What’s the difference between NatureCBD and BioCBD? It seems like your name is connected to both.
Thanks!
NatureCBD is my brand and the one I recommend!
Hiya Ben!
In your youtube videos you’re using CBD in a syringe. What brand are you using?
Thanks!
Jeni
A brand that doesn't hold a candle to NatureCBD. I quit using it. It was called RealCBD.
Fascinating article–the biochemistry wasn’t boring, but I like that stuff–it explains things.
I’ve been reading a lot about hemp vs. marijuana derived etc. but my major reasons for looking into this are a strong family history of Alzheimers/Parkinsons, depression, anxiety, learning disabilities and ADD with some members of the family having insulin resistance, pre-diabetes, and obesity. CBD oil has very little THC–isn’t that the chemical that is helpful w/ Alzheimers prevention? Is there a product w/ more–but not illegally more–THC? Thanks so much.
You need to check this out: https://www.projectcbd.org/alzheimers-disease – a ton of research behind CBD and Alzheimer's, even in absence of THC.
Thank you for the educational article! I am looking into CBD oil for both my son and I. I happen to be extremely allergic to turmeric, however. Can you recommend any other brand that doesn’t have it in it? Thank you! (It’s for extreme anxiety and stress)
Unforutantley Curcumin (Turmeric) is what turns the CBD Oil into 100% Bioavailable BioCBD. The only product that doesn't have it is the Topical Oil, which is not to be ingested. It's available at BioCBDPlus.com and you get a 10% discount if you use the code ben10
I thought I read somewhere that tumeric needed to be activated by hot oil (like coconut oil) to release all its benefits.
That's one way to do it. Doesn't hold a candle to nanoparticles though. Cool thing is you can get best of both worlds and blend NatureCBD with coconut oil, butter, coffee, etc.
Hi Ben,
Just wondering if there was an update on when the NatureCBD pills will be able to be shipped to Canada. I’m looking to get some for a grandparent having issues. Thanks.
Kris, NatureCBD is available for international shipping now!
I was wondering as well if cbd hemp product is legal in canada? Have you recieved it yet?
Hi Ben, I take Tramadol for moderate to severe pain relief from an old injury. Due to tolerance the doc has kept upping the dosage and now I have to take enough that it causes undesirable SSRI/SNRI side effects. Are there any interactions between your CBD oil, and/or can the CBD potentiate Tramadol?
I'm not a doctor. This is not to be taken as medical advice. But I'm aware of no contraindications to using both simultaneously. CBD is so "new" that there's not a ton of research on interaction with pharmaceuticals.
Does your product have a drug interaction with birth control? That is a large concern of mine when looking into any herbal remedy I come across.
I have not heard of anyone stating any interaction with birth control. However, it's best to always ask your doctor.
Hi Ben,
My relative 68 years female has stage IV breast cancer with metastasis in the bones.
She is suffers from severe pain. Will your capsules helpful to reduce pain?
The study show pure CBD can cure breast cancer. The treatment starts with CBD dosage as a 1/2 grain of white rice 3 times daily and every 4 days double the dosage.
Please response to my questions.
Thank very much.
Gregory
I'm not a doctor and can't make medical claims. I can tell you that I have personally found CBD to relieve anxiety and soreness, and I have heard anecdots of people using both THC and CBD to help reduce pain.
I'm trying this to help with anxiety, specially during exercise, and during the day, should I take this before my Workouts or maybe with my vitamins in the am ? or before going to bed ?
Hi Andrea, take it in the morning with your other vitamins..
Hi Ben
Question from CBD/Cannabis oil neophyte:
I am in Santiago, Chile and have bought Cannabis oil here. It is my first time to try it. I am awaiting shipment from U.S. of CBD oil products. I realize you can not give medical advice nor am I asking for it–but if you can give me general directions it would be very helpful. Thanks, Jack in Chile.
I can't vouch for the CBD oil you're using. I just can't. But I highly suspect that it is not pure or not containing the amount of cannabidiol it reports…
Can you give a better recommendation for taking CDB? According to post #18, You take 1-4 capsules. Is this daily? Do you take less/more on strenuous days? With/without food? I’m sold on the benefits of CDB (and buying from you) but would like more direction on application.
Thank you.
I take three capsules in the evening with a glass of red wine, usually around 6-7pm and – that really helps me to relax and wind down in the evenings. It depends largely on what you are taking CBD for?
Taking CBD for general health benefits and possibly for the occasional stressful day from exercise or work. Been taking 1-2 daily since last week in evening as you suggested. Nothing noticeable or spectacular yet, but I’m optimistic. Not sure of the cost versus effectiveness of trying 3 caps/day.
Thanks
I take three capsules a day in the evening and love it. I'd try that and let me know how you go.
I would like to know since this product is supposed to be an anti-inflammatory if it allows repetitive stress injuries (wrist and forearm tendinitis) to fully heal and thereby eliminate the need for long term cost and use of the CBD.
(I am a 50 year old female…if it matters! Lol)
Yes, both the CBD and the turmeric are known anti-inflammatories, and much more natural than things like ibuprofen and advil.
hey, was wondering what is the best place to buy cbd oil to vape with? also how much can i vape the stuff ?should i only vape it once in the day? can i mix it with my vape liquid that i use all day long? will i get negative effects if i use it all day?
i appreciate the articular it was very helpful thanks
Daniel
Get it from an organic, local source in your state if it's legal. Otherwise, I really can't vouch for anything except these capsules: https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/cbd
Dear Ben,
I noticed that you mentioned having turmeric with your CBD oil. I've just ordered the Stanley Brothers CBD Oil tincture and I was wondering if I should mix it with turmeric before taking it? The dose is 200 mg per dropper. How much turmeric would I add?
Thanks!
Dude, I can't vouch for that stuff. I wouldn't use it if I were me. You have to use nanoparticle curcuminoids to mix with turmeric. That's not a self "hackjob". Gotta get it done by a lab. I don't want to get all markety on you, but really, I'd just get https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/cbd and send that other stuff back.
What are your thoughts on CBD oil vaping products and their effectiveness?
They work, but way less convenient than pill form, and you need to find strains that are actually organic, low in heavy metals, etc. I'm a bigger fan of a glass of water and a pill.
After doing a lot of research, i came across www.deltaliquids.com They are legit as every order comes with a batch report (upon request). Also, they have different strengths and flavors depending on how much you need. Check them out!
So you are saying that simply adding tumeric powder in my oil when I’m cooking it up to make my own pills (from my own CBD plants) will not make the CBD more bio-available?
Yep.
JENKINS,
USE THE CHARLOTTE’S WEB I DON’T KNOW WHY HE WOULD SAY NOT TO USE THIS. HAS HE NOT SEEN WHAT THIS STUFF DOES FOR ILLNESS. ANYONE KNOWS THAT IF YOU WANT A MORE ABSORABLE PRODUCT YOUR CAN TAKE TURMERIC THAT HAS BIOPRENE IN IT OR ANY FAT CONTENT SUCH AS COCONUT OIL,FLAX SEED, OLIVE OIL, ALONG WITH YOUR CBD
Great article. Will I feel results on the first dose, or how long does it take to see results?
Immediate. I felt my first dose within 20 min.
You are mistaken that there are 200mg in one serving/ one dropper full. There are 200mg in the whole bottle.
Ben,
Just received my CBD shipment, psyched! Do you find that taking the CBD pills on an empty stomach/vs with food makes any difference? Do you take it daily at a specific time, or as needed depending on the day?
My favorite time of day is in the later afternoon/early evening, with a glass of wine. I do 3-4 capsules then. Otherwise, 1-2 capsules when I'm just banging out emails and working…
Hey Ben, how is the recommended daily dosage ? and does the discount coupon not work anymore?
Hi Ben, You've got me really intrigued to give CBD a try; is it possible to get it in the UK?
Many Thanks
We're still working on international shipping – stay tuned!
Hi,
My mum has a pituitary tumour and looking into alternative medicine I came across your link. Can you please let me know if you think CBD oil could help my mum?
Many thanks,
Hello, great article! ANY drug interactions with Symbicort for asthma or Levoxyl for hypothyroidism? Also, is this safe to take during pregnancy or while trying to get pregnant? Thanks!!!
We have seen no study conducted for interactions with these medicines. It is always advisable to consult your doctor if you are on any medication. Same is true for Pregnancy . It is sensitive issue and any supplement should be used with Doctor’s advice.
So am I understanding you in stating that if I am on prescription drugs for Rheumatoid Arthritis that I should consult my Doctor regarding interaction of Nature CBD with these prescription drugs?
Interaction with the prescription drugs and any form of CBD, yes!
Ben, great stuff. Can you please disclose who the manufacturers of this product are? Your recommendation is important, but numerous companies have gotten poor reviews for products in this category. Your approval is important, but for any supplement (especially one this expensive), I'd like to know who else we're dealing with besides Ben as investor. Thanks.
Absolutely. It's James and Dr. Mewa: https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/2015/05/how-t…
Just took some more times to read whole article. However, happy to read. Always try to think about coconut oil. Seriously, coconut is a super food and can help us in different ways.
My daughter has Lennox Gastaut she's using CBD oil unfortunately it's not working but I know it does for a lot of people. This is a great article thank you.
Connie, thats common with CBD oil. Most CBD hemp oil products have an extremely poor bioavailability and most people simply don’t experience or feel any of the effects of the CBD they take. It would be worth trying NatureCBD to see if it makes a difference. We'd love to hear your feedback.
Based on your response to the herb-drub interaction question,
what is the list of side effects and adverse events possibilities for
your CBD product?
There are no known side effects with NatureCBD. Here are the known side effects of Curcumin and CBD: http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredi… http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22129319
Hi Ben, Great article. Y ou seem to have perfect timing as I have been researching Full Extract Cannabis Oil (FECO). What are the differences/advantages between the two different native compounds?
Full Extract Cannabis Oil (FECO) is also known as Rick Simpson Oil. Which has THC. Therefore makes you high. It's powerful stuff. Many people get knocked out by it, yet it's effective. Depends on what you are looking to do. Nature CBD does not have THC, so there is no high. Great for during the day or work. Active compounds in Nature CBD are CBD, Curcumin, Ashwagandha, Lemon Balm, Magnesium. FECO is just THC extracted oil.
Ben,
I just wanted to ask you what supplements in the 26 ways to recover article would be safe to take so it would not show a positive test even tho they aren’t nsf. I had knee microfracture knee surgery in the past and I want to keep that healthy as well as a groin injury I’m tending too. Plus always trying to get stronger. If you’d be able to just throw a quick list it would be greatly appreciated. I’ve already purchased the marine phyto but I want to make sure it’s safe before I take it
Tommy, these are the kind of details I get into in consults, but regarding the positive testing, check out my link in the article above to GlobalDRO. It's your friend. ;)
Thank you so much!
How is the best way to take cbd oil and how much. I got no instructions with it
This https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/CBD!
I wanted to purchase NatureCBD but it looked like I had to sign up for a monthly subscription. Am I not able to purchase it one time?
David – you can purchase it one time here:

I am interested in ordering this product, but am also currently residing in Canada. Will you send out an update when shipping has been authorized for Canadian residences? Thanks
Hayden, we're working on a way to make it known when we will be able to ship to Canada and will keep you in the loop. Thanks!
Did it go thru to canada ? im looking to get cbd hemp product too and not sure i live in canada too.
We can ship to Canada – yes!
was you able to recieve it in canada? i wondered if legal to get cbd hemp oil into canada?
Ben, my name is Tommy Shirley, I play in the Houston astros organization. I am a pitcher and I just read your 26 ways to recover, I had a few questions on supplementation. I wanted to see if I would be able to ask you. Your information is amazing!
I'd be happy to help you via a personal one-on-one consult. Just go to https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/coaching. and then choose a 20 or 60 minute consult, whichever you'd prefer. We can schedule ASAP after you get that.
Thanks for this article. I was just looking into this for my Grandma (pain control) so the timing is perfect. Now I'm wanting to try it, myself. Do you know if it has any known drug interactions?
Herb-drug interactions can be expected between marijuana and drugs with sympathomimetic activity (tachycardia, hypertension), central nervous system depressants (drowsiness, ataxia), and drugs with anticholinergic effects (tachycardia, drowsiness). So those would be the major ones to be aware of.
Hello have you noticed any interactions with anticonvulsants? I don’t take them for epilepsy but for bipolar. Any effects of CBD on moods?
Ben,
Do you know if this product can ship to Canada? Maybe Brock does. Just to clarify, the soonest it would be available would be in early July?
Thanks!
But I don't think they're regulating it too strictly.
Thanks. Sounds good. However, I am moving on June 29th. Should I be providing my new address?
Hi have you recieved hemp cbd product yet? Im looking to get a tinture and was not sure if i could as im in canada as well.
Ben,
Thank you for the great article, and for putting this product together.
Would you speak a bit more about dosage determination … and where to begin?
Thank you again!
I'd start with 10mg. That's exactly the dose in 1 capsule of NatureCBD.
Good morning! Reading through your article, I'm completely impressed and thinking of the various clinical applications (that depressed patient, that anxious one, my arthritic knees!) for the CBD's. THEN you talk about your product, the combination of co-factors sounding really great, but the nano-particles alarm me. There is a fair amount of research about the hazards of nano-particles in cleaning and cosmetic products, I'm wary of ingesting them for fear of nano-sized items going afield of where I'm intending them to go.
You clearly do your homework: why aren't you worried about nano-particle ingestion?
Thanks!
There has been some fear around subject of nanoparticles that has been spread by few scientists that are not educated on distinct differences between types of nanoparticles, and who are talking about a few specific nano-sized metals that may have a possibilities to bind to DNA (e.g. cisplatin nanomolecules used in chemotherapy, or carbon nanoparticles from tattoos).
