New Discoveries Of The Week: Cool New Things I'm Trying, Books I'm Reading, And More!
-Iliacus & Psoas. No, this is not an ancient Roman novel. Instead, it's a muscle that I've discovered that, on my body and a *whole bunch* of other folks, tends to be incredibly tight, ropy, full of adhesions and in great need of deep tissue work. I've been hitting mine every day with everything from a Pso device to a Rumble Roller use(code BEN for 15% off) to employment of a massage therapist to hit it with teeth-gritting precision. I'd recommend you begin to target your own iliacus and psoas if you have low back pain or hip mobility issues. Here's a diagram of where to find them.
-Underwater MP3 Player. After a week of teaching at the XPT course in Hawaii and Runga in Panama, I've spent a good amount of time surfing, swimming and spearfishing – all without missing a single audiobook chapter or podcast due to one of my favorite workout tools: an underwater MP3 player. I prefer the “H20 Audio” version, which is a simple iPod shuffle that has been waterproofed. If you're a water lover, you need to own one.
–The Golem & The Jinni. It's rare that I recommend fiction on my blog, but I do indeed read (and write) a fair share of it, and a new gem I've been delving into is a book entitled The Golem & The Jinni. No spoiler alert here, but if you dig both Arabic and Jewish mythology, you'll dig this one. It was recommended to me by a friend recently on this Napali coast hike.
