  1. Carol says:

How much Hydrogen water do you have to drink to get the full benefits ?

    and to prevent Jet Lag?

  2. Alex says:

Can you add ionic silver to the water in the hydrogen generator? Will it interact with the PEM components or create a harmful reaction? I add ionic silver in my drinking water regularly.

    Thanks

  3. Andre says:

Well this is worrisome if you read through the studies…

As described above, recent studies indicate that oral consumption of hydrogen-rich water produces many beneficial effects on the body, including positive effects on the intestine, brain, liver, muscles and bones. On the other hand, a recent study [1] in mice showed that the neuroprotective effects of oral hydrogen water are mediated mainly by enhanced production of ghrelin by the stomach. Unfortunately, ghrelin is a peptide hormone that may induce many negative effects, including weight gain, fat deposition, reduced fertility and a higher risk of cancer [2,3].

Can hydrogen rich water lower stomach acid production in an autoimmune disease population suffering from low stomach acid already? any resources on how hydrogen rich water may positively or negatively impact an individual with gut health issues such as sibo, ibs, ibd, low stomach acid, gerd, etc. thanks!

  6. Jay says:

Is there a difference between taking Trusii vs. HRW Rejuvenation? Would you recommend one over the other? They both come with 60 tablets…is 1 tablet in a glass of water each day enough for noticebale benefits, or do you need several tablets/glasses a day? Also on training days would it be best to take it before you train, during, or after? Thank you for your time Ben

    1. steve krumins says:

Trusii is a scam. Don’t buy their junk systems.

      1. NM says:

        But ben has one

  7. Ed Arias says:

So I got some AlkaViva tablets, MiZ liquid and a TDS meter and did some expts, which worked out fine. Ann Arbor water is 300ppm TDS/600uS/cm EC. Using a 500mL glass GT’s Kombucha bottle with cap, 1 H2 tab in 500ml gave me 1ppm … 2 tabs got me 2ppm (20drops MiZ). So I asked myself, what would happen if I increased the TDS? So I prepared 500ml water with enough shilajit to produce 600ppm TDS/1200uS/cm and adding 2 H2 tabs resulted in about 4.5ppm.

I haven’t taken it any further, but I suspect there would be a limit … would it be 15ppm? TIA Ed.

    1. QQ says:

Hi Ed – I’m curious why you added shilajit and what the MiZ liquid was for?

Also, did you ever try the trusii tablets and succeed in hitting anywhere in the range of 7+ ppm?

      1. Ed Arias says:

the MiZ liquid is what appears standard to measure H2 in liquid. https://www.alkaviva.com/miz-hydrogen-test-kit
adding the shilajit was an experiment to see what would happen in increasing TDS … and as expected, the greater TDS the great H2 ppm.

    1. Bill says:

Is there a link to this company?

  9. Rich says:

Another question that has come to mind. I read the article (http://www.molecularhydrogenfoundation.org/core-information/understanding-ph/) which states that molecular hydrogen (H2) is a neutral molecule which, when dissolved in water, has no influence on the water’s pH. However I ran some tests using both pH strips and a digital pH meter, and the pH of the water I was using (filtered with alkaline minerals), was 9.2. After dissolving a single H2 tablet (from Trusii), the pH dropped to 4.5; thus my confusion. Do you have any thoughts or information on this as I am trying to learn more on both the subject of hydrogen enriched water, and alkalinity in our diet.

    1. Rich says:

      From Tyler:
The tablets also react with the water to produce H2 gas, which ends up changing the pH. I believe the tablets have some natural organic acids to help facilitate the reaction, which is why the water is initially acidic, but if left long enough likely becomes alkaline.

  10. Sandbox says:

Is there any contraindication (ie Would it be safe) to mix the Trusii molecular hydrogen tablets (mentioned above) into the same container along with an intra-workout drink “containing highly branched cyclic dextrins, essential amino acids and L-carnatine”? Or should they be on different days, or same day at a different time? Thank you.

    1. Bryan Ridgley says:

There should be no contraindication whatsoever!

    2. Rich says:

While I see no contradiction (from what little I know), I do know that you are typically advised to drink the enriched hydrogen water quickly, so I don’t know that letting it linger in an intra-workout drink and sipping on it for an hour or more is optimal. Just a thought that came to mind – please correct me if I am wrong!

  11. I listen to every episode, but this one I really enjoyed. Great science with great info. I checked out your recommendations and ended up getting Trusii. I used the whole bottle as directed and can’t say I noticed anything. Just curious if you tried it or if it was just the one that passed your tests the best?

    1. Gary myers says:

Did you ever test various H2 producing tablets and water products? I didn’t see a link in the resources to the results if you did.

  12. Rich says:

Considering that these hydrogen tablets are typically made from elemental magnesium, I was wondering if your body actually was able to absorb this magnesium? I had thought that the body was unable to absorb pure magnesium (hence the chelates or other carriers used), but from what I have read, it appears that after the reaction with H2O, that the cells do absorb it? If so, is it all absorbed?

So example, Trusii uses 80mg of elemental magnesium per tab, could I count this 80mg as part of my magnesium supplementation?

  13. amy says:

    Hi Ben,

Don’t know where but Ive heard that the bacteria in your gut, to use your word, make copious amounts of hydrogen and that supplementing with a pill is simply insignificant, not needed or beneficial… any thoughts on this?

    thanks much.

    1. Good question. It is one of the dosing enigmas with molecular hydrogen as discussed in detail here: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3680…. However, the fact remains that administration of H2 in water, or inhalation is still shown to be effective. In some cases more effective, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22608009. This may be due to the fact that H2 works more like a gaseous-signal modulator, and so an intermittent/pulse type administration is what is needed.

  14. Rich says:

I apologize for not having a better understanding of how the solubility works, but if H2 has a solubility of 1.6 mg/L, does that not mean that in 1 liter of water, only a concentration of 1.6mg can be reached (i.e. a concentration of 1.7mg or higher is not possible per liter?) If that is the case then 1) why are many companies (basically every single one I have seen) reporting tablets that produce 5-15 mg/L (ppm) and that you only need to dissolve in 250-500mL ? Am I confused as to thinking that with 500 Ml, you could only benefit from 0.8 mg of H2 (and the rest would just go into the air or something?)

Thank you very much in advance for what I hope to be a good chemistry 101 session!

    1. Alex says:

Dissolving is not the only way to deliver in water. While the dissolved limit under 1atm will be 1.6mg/L or ‘PPM’, the proprietary nature of the tablets allows for a cloud of nano bubbles to form in addition to saturation. These nanobubbles remain relatively stable and neither dissolve or dissipate, meaning the consumer will ingest the fully dissolved water + the cloud of H2 nanobubbles

    2. 1.6 mg/L is the solubility of H2 at SATP (Standard Atmospheric Temperature and Pressure) according to Henry's Law. You can increase the solubility by lowering the temperature, or increasing the pressure. See: http://www.molecularhydrogenfoundation.org/concen…

Tablets that claim to produce 5-15 mg/L may not be discussing the details with scientific accuracy. Each tablet will stoichematrically produce a finite amount of H2 (e.g. 3 milimoles), if you dissolve all that gas into one liter you have one liter, then you have a concentration of 6 mg/L. However, if you could dissolve all the gas in only 500 mL, then the concentration would be 12 mg/L, and so on. Of course there are limitations and conditions to this based on Henry's Law. Additionally, the tablets produce nano-bubbles which do not follow Henry's Law and thus allow for more H2 gas to be in water. At any rate, as soon as you make H2 water, whether it be a 1.6 mg/L or a 5 mg/L, the H2 gas immediately begins to escape in order to reach normal equilibrium with the atmosphere at a concentration of 0.000001 mg/L or so. Therefore, just like with carbonated beverages, it is best to drink the H2 water as soon as possible.

      1. pazl says:

But what is happening to the oxygen after the H is stripped away? Is that not also becoming diatomic? Or is there some mix of O2 and hydroxide?

        1. pazl says:

Oops. Nevermind. Just found the answer here:
“Magnesium metal also reacts with water to produce hydrogen gas: [Mg + 2H2O –> H2 + Mg(OH)2]. The magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH–)2) dissociates into magnesium ions (Mg2+ ) and hydroxide ions (OH-) according to the equilibrium: Mg(OH)2 Mg2+ + 2OH– 24 However, the reaction is not as exothermic and thus does not carry any risk of explosion.”

Too bad about the no explosion because that would be super fun.

    1. Interesting, I'll check it out.

  16. Ben,

In the episode you mentioned you would be testing the hydrogen products with the strip the dr. Mentioned. Do you have results yet? I’d like to buy some Ben greenfield tested and approved hydrogen tablets.

    1. Ian Hamilton says:

Jeffrey, not sure what ‘strips’ you are talking about. There’s only one reliable method I know, and that is H2 Blue reagent.

  17. Mitch says:

I’ve have a counter top ionizer for the past few years and am a bit concerned about leeching metals like described on the podcast, thanks for mentioning Ben. Is there a good way to be sure that I’m not drinking heavy metal rich water? Would a simple, Amazon at home heavy metal test do the trick? Thanks

    1. Yeah you can find some good ones on Amazon: https://amzn.to/2EBbZRC

    2. Ian Hamilton says:

Mitch, your concern is valid. Unless your water ionizer has top level heavy metal filtration it’s going to do some bad things. The best media in the world for this is KDF85. Your ionizer vendor will know, but ask for life-of-filter tests.

  18. Angelo says:

Ben, can hydrogen enriched be added to float tank water for an added float tank experience?

    1. Ian Hamilton says:

It could be a monumental moment if you allow H2 to accumulate in an enclosed space like a float tank!

  19. Steve Carter says:

Thanks for this Ben – what a discovery!

As a 49 year olde Half IM, hoping to make the the full distance next year when I turn 50 – I think this will be a deal changer. More important than that, I agree that this will be something we will all be talking about in the future – well us wise one’s will be – at least in the future.

Subscription ordered – can wait to post some results.

Really appreciate you revealing this – this is the most important thing you can do man – you are helping the greater good mate.

    Love from Down Under xo

  20. Zach says:

I just finished the podcast today and loved it. Can hydrogen enriched water be used preventatively? I heard a lot of talk on this podcast about using HEW to treat a number of issues, but wanted to make sure that its use wasn’t limited to treatment. Sorry if this was discussed and I missed it.

  21. John Welch says:

I love how eloquently, and directly, Tyler set the record straight on Kangen hydrogen generator systems (I refuse to call them alkaline systems). The world of water ionization is filled with a bunch of low-quality devices…alloy metals, weak mesh plates, leeching alkaline properties into the water…but, Kangen, is in a class by itself, the real deal.

Ben, this was my first podcast listen from you, and I will check out more in the future. For me, personally, Kangen has been the single best investment in my health, so I hope you give it a fair shake at some point.

    1. Ian Hamilton says:

With respect, John, the Kangen has the most outdated self cleanse system of any electric ionizer I know. And this is essential to constant production of H2. ANY accretion on the ionizer plates will drastically reduce H2 capabilities. Buy some H2 Blue and test it for yourself.

    2. Mike says:

      Hello John

I am a K-8 owner and was wondering if you tried the H2 blue test as Ian suggested? Also your results if tested.

      Thanks

  22. Nicole says:

I used to suffer from very difficult cramping before that time of the month. And a real loss in energy — this was all prior to consuming Trusii H2 (molecular hydrogen). After 1 week I noticed a difference in my skin (less dry) and I was waking up easily (not hitting snooze 4-5x’s). And fast forward 12 months. I have no cramping prior to my period. In fact I feel great all month – and I haven’t changed anything! Except added H2 into my daily routine. Love this molecule. H2 is a must for your healing, anti-aging and an overall wellness protocol.

    Nicole Alexandra

  23. Brooks Braun says:

I’m curious why the real information regarding the benefits of Hydrogen are not understood or being discussed. The cost of this tablet is prohibitive and the technology outdated. Maybe people would do better investigating the pioneer of stabalized Hydrogen, Dr.Patrick Flannagen. Hydrogen is Critical because it is the element that allows this one thing.. transmutation. This moves the discussion from transformation, of which the quick odd minds desire, and focuses on the next level, Super Radiant health,

  24. Dave says:

Trusii – So 1 pill is 15ppm or 15 mg per liter right? If we want 0.5mg/day then 1 pill will give us a 30 day supply? I’m sure that’s absolutely ridiculous, but if yes, will the hydrogen stay in an aluminum canister that long?

Btw why the ‘H’ is this podcast making me attempt math?!

    1. Steven Krumins says:

I’d recommend testing those previously mentioned tablets, you will find they are actually only 6.5-7.0 PPM on average of H2 (done in triplicate titration with methyl blue drops ). The systems from that company are even worse less than 1.0 ppm.

  25. Dave says:

So one Trusii tablet is good for one serving?

  26. Jennifer says:

Has anyone tested the hydrogen ppm created from the Trusii tablets?

    1. Hater says:

Why the hell are you scamming people? 15ppm? are you crazy? The maximum you can get with sea level pressure is 1.6 ppm! Check gases solubility. 1.6 PPM is MAXIMUM you can get in the natural environment with normal pressure. Can’t argue with physics laws!

    2. steven krumins says:

yes, trusii tablets are actually less than 8 ppm not the advertised 15 ppm

  27. Joel says:

What about molecular hydrogen and SIBO (small intestinal bowel overgrowth)? I was reading that SIBO can be caused by too much hydrogen in the gut, so would molecular hydrogen ameliorate symptoms or make it worse in your opinion? Thanks!

    1. Hey Joel,

It looks like one of the possible mechanisms by which hydrogen-water might indirectly help or benefit SIBO is by increasing an individual’s gastric ghrelin secretion via its cell signaling function in the stomach, which in turn has a beneficial effect on the increased production of gastric acid and improves intestinal dysmotility. Both of these (low gastric acid production and intestinal dysmotility) are hallmarks/characteristics and or precursors to SIBO. Intestinal dysmotility (dysfunction or lack of strength or coordination of muscles in the gastrointestinal tract) appears to be improved by hydrogen itself and also ghrelin improves it as well. Gastric acid suppresses bacterial growth in the small intestine and duodenum. Improving gastric acid production may improve or have a homeostatic effect on the bacteria in the small intestine. Since hydrogen water may increase gastric ghrelin secretion it may indirectly benefit SIBO in this way. Remember this is a possible benefit based on the data, and more research needs to be done in this area to confirm this benefits. But until then, there are many anecdotal testimonies about hydrogen water benefiting IBS, SIBO, Crohn’s etc.

  28. John Mills says:

All of the suggested forms of hydrogen water and devices are way too expensive to even consider. Unless there are devices to make this stuff for pennies (like Colloidal or Ionic Silver) there is ZERO chance I’ll ever be able to add this my regime. I’m afraid of the electrode deterioration that may occur with some cheaper devices. I’ll just stick to filling my jugs at the store via the reverse osmosis dispenser and maybe using a few of Ben’s dads portable water structuring devices and see how that goes.

    1. Ian Hamilton says:

John, my invention is a simple magnesium based- water filter than infuses H2. It may be more within your budget. We’ve delivered almost 10,000 over the last 3 years to people like you.

      http://www.alkaway.com

      Ian Blair Hamilton

      Founder, Alkaway

  29. Scott says:

Well, Tyler said it himself, “all hydrogen production is done with electrolysis”. Besides the tablet method of a chemical reaction release bonded hydrogen into the water hydrogen rich water products are most likely made with electrolysis. So, that means – like mentioned on the show, there may be a risk of trace metallic particles in water leaching from the electrodes – your putting your trust into the company’s not to be providing you with trace metals. If a person is still going to proceed drinking HRW, then why not just do electrolysis at home – makes me wonder about these colidal silver water producing kits people do at home.

Here is a nice little demo of a home kit product with decent explanation.

    https://youtu.be/FPFp1FrNSZk

    1. Ian Hamilton says:

Scott, yes, you can do it at home but no, all H2 is not produced by electrolysis.

  30. Ariel says:

Hey guys, just purchased tablets on the Trusii site and everything works fine! I’ve purchased a number of their nutrition and skin care products over the years and they are amazingly high quality! I know a few of the owners personally and they are really good people.

    1. steven says:

I have to respectively disagree with your assessment of what high quality people the Trusii owners are. My apologies in advance.

  31. Matt says:

Very interested in the Trusii, but almost $70 is a bit too tough on the budget.

  32. CJ says:

Ben- which one of the Hydrogen waters that you listed is the best in your opinion? What is a minimal level or ppm you want in a product? Have you been taking Trusii? When you go to the Trusii website and try to order, the buttons do not work to actually place an order and have you checked them out? They seem to have some complaints on the Better Business Bureau website. They are also nearly impossible to reach out and contact. Just an FYI for your audience as I hope they are a legit company.

        1. betsy maldonado says:

          Ian Hamilton,

I have 3 questions for you:

          1. What does your machine test out at as far as hydrogen concentration?

          2. Will the alkaline nature of drinking alkaline water from your machine cause issues with digesting food properly since acid is needed to properly digest food or is it just a matter of not drinking the alkaline water an hour before or after eating food?

I am completely confused about alkaline water.

          3. Last question… Tyler basically says that the only reason alkaline water has so many health benefits is specifically due to the hydrogen that some machines provide. Do you agree with this?
