New Discoveries

Breathe Easier: My Top “Lung Health” Hacks

Wildfire season can make the air quality pretty bad (and frankly, the air quality can be pretty bad all year in a lot of places).

But wildfire season aside, the air quality this year alone has been pretty awful, and it's become critical to ensure your lung health is being properly cared for and maintained during these times.

Maintaining good air quality is essential to keep your lungs healthy, so here's my simplified guide for taking care of your lungs that I recently shared on my Instagram account (also relevant for issues such as COPD or former cigarette smokers):

  • Get a top-notch air purifier for every room. I use the Air Doctor. Think of it like a vacuum cleaner for your air.
  • Eat foods rich in omega-3, like fish, flax seeds, and chia seeds, along with citrus fruits. These are superfoods for your lungs that improve declined lung function.
  • Drink clean, pure water to stay hydrated and help your lungs function better.
  • Use a nebulizer with glutathione (Glutastat by Mitozen is a good one). It's like a cool mist you breathe in to help clear out your lungs.
  • Add eucalyptus to an essential oil diffuser.
  • Try acupuncture, which can release chemicals that dilate the air passages in the lungs, making breathing your purified, eucalyptus-infused air easier.

There are also some specific supplements I recommend, such as proteolytic enzymes (namely, bromelain) or, better yet, a higher dose of Kion Flex (4-6 caps empty stomach), Coenzyme Q10, L-Carnitine, and N-acetylcysteine (brands vary), Annatto from Designs For Health, and Vitamin C from Jigsaw Health’s adrenal cocktail.

Follow my Twitter account and my Threads account for more research I've come across or quick health tips about topics like lung health. They're both convenient platforms that work best for sharing the articles I find or the thoughts I have (and are also great platforms for communicating with me and sharing any thoughts or comments you might have on those articles, too)!

::: Get 50% Off Your First Order Of This Filler-Free Children’s Multivitamin Gummy :::

Whether it's due to nutrient-poor plants, nutrient-poor animals, nutrient-poor milk, or nutrient-poor water, most diets are now so micronutrient deficient that they require on average 27,575 calories to supply all the essential nutrients you need.

In other words, you would need to be stuffing your face all day long to actually get what your body needs!

Now imagine the implications for growing young children.

The problem is that most children's multivitamins are little more than candy with a fancy label, containing up to two teaspoons of sugar per dose and all sorts of artificial chemicals and gummy materials that no child or adult should ever consume.

Hiya, here’s your alternative. No, really, that's what it's called.

Hiya is a pediatrician-approved chewable multivitamin that is free of the added sugars and harmful ingredients found in most children's vitamins.

It was created with the assistance of nutritional experts and includes 12 real fruits and vegetables as well as 15 essential vitamins and minerals.

These include vitamin D, B12, C, zinc, folic acid, and a variety of others that aid in immunity, energy, brain function, mood, concentration, teeth, bones, and other functions. In essence, it contains everything youngins need to grow up healthy and resilient.

Plus, it’s tasty, and if you've ever tried to get your 5-, 6-, or 7-year-old to take your adult multivitamin, you know that's important.

As a father, Hiya was a game changer in raising my boys. Jessa and I have always aimed to educate our sons on different topics like nutrition, exercise, etc., and then let them make decisions themselves. I first started using Hiya, hoping to make one of those decisions just a bit easier, and low and behold, my kids were hooked (and not just my kids).

On many occasions, I’ve been known to forgo my own high-end multivitamin in favor of a few tasty Hiya chewables, and even though my boys are older now and don’t mind taking pills, Hiya is still their preferred multivitamin.

And now, just for you, I’ve worked out a special deal with Hiya. When you use this link, you’ll get a whopping 50% off your first order!

Asking A Quick Favor About My New Book Boundless Parenting: Tools, Tactics & Habits of Great Parents.

Boundless Parenting standing on deskAs you may know, in February of this year I released Boundless Parenting: a labor of love made up of interviews with some of the most incredible parents on the planet and their combined wisdom.

This book is designed to be a guide to, well, guiding your child in a world where navigating the act of raising a family has become a lost art.

The interviews in Boundless Parenting range from Bryan Johnson of Blueprint to my friends Dr. Dan and Merily Pompa, and many, many more. The text is chock full of all sorts of tools and tactics, from teaching your kids how to fast (and when it would be appropriate) to the ways Jessa and I have invested in the Greenfield family legacy. It has everything you need to go from lost-puppy-without-a-clue to grade-A super parent, and also has plenty of wisdom and actionable information for well-seasoned parents.

Now Boundless Parenting is available as the ultimate audio experience, as each chapter's narration comes not just from me and my wife Jessa, but also from each contributing parent's voice.

That’s right, you get to hear each parent read their chapter from their own perspective, making this audiobook come to life.

The parents, including my very own mom, my dad, myself, my wife, and many other models of practical parenting wisdom, delve into the fascinating realms of education, discipline, parenting, legacy, and so much more with specifics like:

  • The best methods for developing lifelong immunity, cellular resilience, mental toughness, and overall health in a child
  • How to manage your time, deal with overwhelm, care for yourself, and maintain high levels of productivity and health while raising children
  • Family mission statements to family brands, traditions, and routines that foster pride and a strong identity in children
  • Parents like Naveen Jain reveal how anyone can start a non-profit for their child for generational wealth building
  • The crazy, controversial primal secrets of “tiger dad” parents like The Liver King and Joe Desena
  • Lenore Skenazy on why she's America's Worst Mom (and why you should be too!)
  • Joseph Anew and Emilia Run's advice on respectful parenting, slowing down, and controversial topics like co-sleeping
  • Angie Fletcher on the intriguing traditions she began with her oldest child as a single, divorced mother
  • My own parents Gary and Pat Greenfield on how they raised me and my 4 siblings to approach the world in a far different, outside-the-box way compared to other kids
  • And much more!

I’ve even included a sneak peek just for you in a podcast I recorded, so you can start learning right here, right now!

Listen to me go over my love and logic parenting philosophy, how Boundless Parenting came to be, and other sections directly from the book.

Because parenting isn’t something you have to do alone. Remember the saying “It takes a village”?

So here's the favor: Listen to the sneak peek and if it strikes your fancy, let my book and the incredible parents in it be your village. Check out the audiobook release of Boundless Parenting here.
