Dr. Matthew Cook, of Bioreset Medical, is one of the smartest, most cutting-edge physicians I've ever met, and this is part 2 of my amazing two-part interview with him, recorded from my home in Spokane, WA.
You can listen to part 1 at “Immortal Cells, Biohacking Pain, Killing Lyme, Stem Cell Confusion, How Ketamine Works & Much More With Dr. Matt Cook.”
During that first episode we discussed:
…how he's used the nootropic methylene blue to solve a difficult medical case…
…how he's upgrading stem cells to make them far more potent…
…how he's treating depression effectively in as little as 20 minutes with a special brew that includes ketamine, NAD and vitamin IVs (Dr. Cook is now even doing telemedicine “Ketamine Resets” – use code BENDEAL for a $250 discount)…
…how he's reversing musculoskeletal disorders using something called “hydrodissection”…
Dr. Cook founded BioReset Medical Corporation and as acting President, operates a Regenerative Medicine and Pain Medicine practice that offers leading-edge non-surgical solutions in orthopedic medicine, sports medicine, regenerative pain medicine, and stem cell medicine.
He is a board-certified anesthesiologist with over 20 years of experience in medical practice. Currently, Dr. Cook is President of California Anesthesia and Medical Director of the National Surgery Center, Los Gatos, CA.
Dr. Cook’s early career as an anesthesiologist and medical director of an outpatient surgery center that specializes in sports medicine and orthopedic procedures provided invaluable training in the skills that are needed to become a leader in the emerging fields of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound imaging, nerve hydrodissection, and stem cell medicine.
During this Part 2 discussion, you'll discover:
-Dr. Cook's Opinion on the use of beta blockers in preparing for performance…9:30
- Gave a talk to over 2,000 doctors early in his career
- Was given a beta blocker by an associate; Heart rate went down to 25 bpm.
- Never taken another beta blocker since.
- Sweet spot for everything.
- Biohacking too high or too low is problematic
- Has used beta blockers with anesthesia to calm the heart rate.
-Plasmapheresis, what Dr. Cook considers to be one of the “next big things” in the medical industry…11:58
- Plasmapheresis
- A method of removing blood plasma from the body by withdrawing blood, separating it into plasma and cells, and transfusing the cells back into the bloodstream.
- It is performed especially to remove antibodies in treating autoimmune conditions.
- It has also been studied as a treatment for neurocognitive and neurodegenerative problems like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
- It’s kind of like an oil change in your vehicle.
- If there is systemic inflammation, often that inflammation is in the plasma of the blood.
- Different from parabiosis
- Same procedure as Dr. Mark Urdahl and I discussed on the podcast a few months ago. (Listen to the episode here.)
- Most people who seek plasmapheresis have serious conditions like Lyme, dementia, Parkinsons, etc.
- Effect on a healthy person:
- No negative effect. Nothing wrong with a thorough examination
- Length of the procedure: 2-3 hours, 1x/week for 6 weeks.
-Dr. Cook's thoughts on the use of cannabinoids in his practice…18:50
- We have cannabinoid receptors in our brains.
- Part of our nervous system is called the endocannabinoid system.
- Expect a surge of use in the next 10 years among health optimizers and chronically ill people.
- “Entourage effect”
- Unicorn: a company that is purifying cannabinoids and get all the solvents out
- Delta 8 THC vs. Delta 9.
- Rick Simpson Oil: highly potent
- What are terpenes?
- The terpenes are the flavor the smell and much of the effect.
- The effect of sativa or the effect of the indica is from the terpenes in that strain.
- Can be up to 100 terpenes in a strain. Can also control flavonoids…
- Unicorn can make them bioavailability
- We are going to be studying these blends
- Do you give a f*ck? Here's how to follow what's up with the Unicorn brand: http://unicorncannabis.net
-Dr. Cook's approach to dealing with gut issues…31:40
- Get a sense of symptoms
- Test for parasites, the microbiome, stool sample
- Food goes through the stomach, to small intestine.
- Small intestine is sterile
- Goes into large intestine, trillions of bacteria
- Parasites live in the small intestine
- SIBO: small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (Listen to my podcast with Dr. Michael Ruscio here)
- Anti-inflammatory diets
- Collagen, bone broth, colostrum is efficacious in healing the gut.
- Everything is fixable. “Bio Reset”
-What Dr. Cook likes and uses in his practice with peptides…43:55
- Peptide is a smaller version of a protein
- BPC 157 used in combination with stem cells and treating GI problems
- TB 500
- Thymosin used for chronic infections
- Peptides becoming common for treatment of chronic illnesses
- Immune over response and under response – Immune modulation
- Nootropic peptides: Semax, Selank
-What is “hyperthermia”?…51:22
- Used for treating chronic infections and cancer.
- Two options under consideration:
- High tech sauna
- Venovenous
- Malarial treatment: German doctor discovered a way to cure malaria using hyperthermia in the 1920s after WWI.
-Dr. Cook's approach to treating Lyme disease…59:17
- Similar approach as to the gut.
- Tick-borne illness
- Effects similar to syphilis
- Step back, get broadest possible level. Full assessment
- food allergies
- pain in joints
- Neural Lyme
- What modalities have been successful?
-How Dr. Cook teaches other doctors in these practices…1:09:00
-And much more!

My wife was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease at age 59. She had severe calf pain, muscle pain, tremors, slurred speech, frequent falls, loss of balance, difficulty in getting up from sitting position. She was put on Sinemet for 6 months and then Sifrol was introduced and replaced the Senemet. During this time span she was also diagnosed with dementia. She started having hallucinations, lost touch with reality. This year, our family doctor started her on Tree of life Health Clinic Parkinson’s Disease Herbal mixture, 1 month into treatment she improved dramatically. At the end of the full treatment course, the disease is totally under control. No case of dementia, hallucination, weakness, muscle pain or tremors. all thanks to Tree of Life Clinic, Visit Tree of life Health Clinic website www.treeoflifehealthclinics.com She is strong again and able to go about daily activities.
This really opened my eyes. The writing skill alone kept my interest. Thank you for sharing!
What injectable BPC-157 source does Dr. Cook use and provide?
Thanks for this. Chris MasterJohn (PhD in Nutrition) offers an explanation on why it helps to take TMG with Niacin, NR or NMN (balancing methyl groups) that you might find interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWLv_iTpsXA
Hey Ben,
I have a question for you, I was curious if my wife could take Thorne Hemp oil while breast feeding our new born? With our first child she got postpartum really bad, just curious on your thoughts. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
I always recommend people speak with their doctor about any supplements they'd like to take while breastfeeding.
Is there any drug interactions with cbd oil? My parents are hesitant to talk to their doctor about using cbd for sleep and stress but I think it would be a really good thing for them. My mom takes Lynparza for ovarian cancer treatment. Thanks for your help!
I'm not a doctor and this shouldn't be misconstrued as medical advice. I recommend speaking with a qualified medical professional… CBD has been shown to be a safe, effective supplement with a myriad of benefits, but I can't specifically comment on its safety with that medication, but you can find a lot of great info here: https://www.projectcbd.org/
I would like to take a CBD supplement to help me sleep. The problem is that they’re pretty absurdly expensive. Do you have a recommendations for what I can take at the best value. Thanks
These are my 3 favorite sources: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1e341eqop8x1Ic…
My question is, is there a time frame for when you can smoke weed and go to bed without having the THC impact my deep sleep? Is one hour before bed enough? Two hours before bed? More? None at all? Would appreciate the feedback and love all the great knowledge you share, thank you!
Reed
Is the bpc 157 available in capsule form to the public? If so would you share the link?
Saw it on amazon. But its gone now
Check out Dr. William Seed’s web site. I think it is there, however injecting it seems like a better approach.
Hyperthermia – when to treat your kids: I also think we over do antipyretic meds. I’m a paramedic and often go to kids who get too hot they have ‘febrile’ convulsions (in brackets as it’s often not witnesses by us). What can we do here, how can we treat/educate. I do realise this is yet another socially engineered fear but obviously as a parent and a carer giver I would love to know where to draw the line. Cheers Ross
Hi again..Just to clarify…. I was after treatment protocol/recommendations for infants/toddlers & what would be regarded a safe temperature before intervention. I realise that you still would have to consider the patients individual disposition and co-infections/conditions. So just in the case of a generalised fever that, for instance, gets classified as a general viral infection. I’ve got a 9 month old son who’s been fever free thus far but would love to have some advice in the above area. Cheers
In this interview Dr. Cook references an oral form of BPC 157.
Is it a pill form? If so, is it available to purchase?
Thanks for all your work,

I was diagnosed of Lyme disease four years ago. I was so terribly sick. I think my worst complaint was the severe headache. I was taken doxycycline hyclate 100 mg as treatment for Lyme disease, twice a day for 21 days. and didn’t seem to be improving. I did not display a rash or any kind of bull’s eye. Diagnosis was from blood test. We tried every shots available but nothing worked. My Lyme Disease got significantly worse and unbearable because of her cognitive thinking. In 2015, our physician advised we go with natural treatment and was introduced to Organic Herbal Clinic natural organic Lyme Disease Herbal formula, I had a total decline of symptoms with this treatment, the fever, joint pain, weakness, shortness of breath, and anxiety. and others has subsided.
Hi there, I contacted Clearlight Saunas yesterday and they informed me that strangely enough, the only place they can’t ship to happens to be the province I live in Canada and that the Ben discount is $100, not $450 as mentioned on Ben’s website. It does not note the Ontario exclusion anywhere that I can find. Sounds a bit odd to me and seems something is not on the ‘up and up’. Anyway thought you should know as it seems there is some mis-advertising going on somewhere. I was exploring the sauna for someone who lives with two serious autoimmune illnesses. Needless to say disappointed and not impressed. :(
Try www.saunaspace.com. They ship all over the world.
I have heard you and many others mention Rick Simpson oil for cancer treatment. Where can i find a quality oil? I live in Long Beach, CA. I have been in medicinal clinic that sell the oil, but i am skeptical of the quality.
Personally, I like Thorne Hemp Oil: https://goo.gl/QT1V66 … or BioCBD Plus: https://goo.gl/brzt6n
Ben, you and Matt mention the bpc-157 peptide pill in the podcast.
Are you talking about Dr. Seed’s Body Protective Complex+?
If not, might i ask what pill you’re trying?
I know you’re not a doctor but what are your thoughts on it? I get hung up on it being in a pill form and oral delivery. In my mind injecting has to be, and i’ve heard Seed’s talk a couple of months ago about it with Ruscio and explain it’s not but i can’t get past it.
I’ve contacted their support a few months back to get more info and was skeptical of the response i got about the details of the pill.
Your thoughts on that pill or the one you’re taking!
BTW……More podcasts on peptides please!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve been trying to find a doctor near me that does peptide therapy. I’m in WA, does anyone know how to find a Dr? I’ve already emailed IPS with no luck. Thank you!!
Hey, I go to doctor in Montana that has helped me out with peptide therapies. He does phone and Skype consultations. His name is Dr Jerry Taylor. Just google his name and his number will come up. He’s out of Havre, MT. Very good guy!
Check this out: https://goo.gl/HJW27K
What specific product for biofilm busters does dr cooke recommend?
They do different/specified Herbal protocols at his office.. He also mention rectal ozone/ozone therapy being effective. An anti-inflammatory diet supported with things like bone broth & colostrum can help heal your gut as well.
I’m sure you have a lot of listeners in Europe, me being one of them. I would be curious to find out which clinics you are referring to when you or your guest says something along the lines “… they do this in Germany…”. Would it be possible to provide links to the referenced clinics/procedures?
Ben – Dr. Cook broadly mentioned that he uses a urine test to test for mold in people. Any idea what test that is, what lab, and what markers to look for on the test? Thanks.
Not sure what he uses but my doctor used Real Time Labs for me the first time and then Great Plains Lab as a follow up after treatment. GPL is less expensive. Hope this helps.
Ben,
Do you have a source to purchase BPC 157 in pill form?
http://www.BenGreenfieldFitness.com/bpc
That link appears to be for the vial powder; do you happen to have the link for the pill?
