New Discoveries Of The Week: Cool New Things I'm Trying, Books I'm Reading, And More!

My New Favorite Fast & Easy Way To Cook

I’ve been writing a cookbook (which I will announce more about soon) but in the meantime, I thought I would share with you a really cool cooking method I’ve been geeking out on lately: pressure cooking.

Pressure cooking allows you to create incredibly flavorful and tender meat—along with other foods like spaghetti squash, rice, and vegetable dishes—in a surprisingly short period of time. We are talking 20-30 minutes to make a dish that would normally take hours on the grill or in an oven. In the past week, I have pressure cooked a giant pork loin from US Wellness Meats, 2 enormous spaghetti squashes, and, as you can see in the photo to the right (and in this recent Instagram post), a bunch of melt-in-your-mouth short ribs from a grass-fed, grass-finished beef source.

My recipe for these ribs was super simple: pour equal parts bone broth (use code GREENFIELD to save 10%) and wine into the pressure cooker, along with salt, pepper, garlic, thyme, and rosemary—and a few splashes of Joey’s Hella Raiser hot sauce (use code BEN20 to save 20%). Just do a quick sear on the ribs to lock in the flavor, and finally – for the real magic – dump them straight into the pressure cooker and press go for about 30 minutes. Voila! Perfectly done ribs.

Does anyone else use a pressure cooker? If so, what is your favorite recipe? Let me know in the comments section below, and if you want the same pressure cooker I've been using, you can get it on Amazon here (4.5 stars with over 4000 ratings!).

Featured Product: Kion Colostrum

Jam-packed with vitamins, minerals, proteins, and enzymes, Colostrum has been shown to support your immune system, enhance athletic performance and recovery, make your gut impenetrable, enhance the efficacy of your probiotics, increase muscle gain, and much more.*

But, because it is sourced from animals, your colostrum supplement is only as healthy as the animal it came from.

To be sure you're getting the highest quality colostrum out there, look for a supplement that is sourced from grass-fed milk, minimally processed, and comes in a bioactive form.

Kion Colostrum checks all three of these boxes:

  • Sourced from grass-fed cows that feed on single-origin natural pastures (also GMO-free, hormone-treatment-free, antibiotic-free, and BSE-free).
  • Minimally processed and non-denatured to preserve the active nutrients and maintain the full range of beneficial proteins and peptides.
  • Comes in a bioactive powder form. It’s believed that colostrum may be best absorbed through the oral mucosal surface in the mouth. Kion Colostrum is not encapsulated, allowing you to receive the full range of bioactive nutrients.

You can take Kion Colostrum with water, add it to smoothies, or simply dump the powder directly into your mouth and allow it to circulate a few minutes before swallowing. (As an added bonus, Kion Colostrum tastes like rich and creamy mac ‘n cheese!) Speaking of cheese, colostrum is naturally very low in lactose, so I (and others with lactose intolerance) tolerate it just fine.

You can get Kion Colostrum here, and save 10% on your first order when you use code BEN10 at checkout.

I think it is imperative that our trusted voices – yup – that’s you Ben Greenfield – are especially careful with what they post – so they don’t contribute to the panicdemic

    1. A shame. I just issued a clarifying tweet about this. Thanks for brining to my attention.

    2. KD says:

I completely agree we should know the circumstances behind the vaccine deaths, it would be nice if the media etc. also reported all the co-founding factors in the COVID-19 deaths as well.

  2. Marshall says:

    Hey Ben!

Do you think the meat (or veggies) hold their nutritional profile with pressure cooking? I worry everything sort of gets zapped out. I hope I’m worrying unnecessarily because it sure is convenient!
Thanks so much for the info! While I find other emails annoying I truly look forward to yours!
